Disconnection Week is all about disconnecting from your TV, Internet, Radios & papers for one week. We want as many people from around the world to participate in this so we can show them that this propaganda is making us unhappy and is hypnotising us.

Firstly however this needs organising. What we need is -

A website to promote this week (this all will come under DI)
The perfect week to do this experiment
Advertisers to promote this week
People to take part!

If your interested and can help in any way then just post on this thread of feel free to personal message me. Also we will be holding meetings at 7GMT ever Monday to sort this out.

Let free this world from this curse!

Lets get disconnected!

Tell us what you think and hopefully by December we’ll have something up and running!

Does this forum come under things to be excluded, if not why not?
I have spent many hours reading stuff onthese forums, and I would say it's a form of entertainment as well as info and misinfo:

Yes

Mainstream news does creep onto this forum.

But if this leads everyone off the rubbish that is the TV then that’s the best thing that could come out of this.

nice idea, i think people must be less influenced by the mass media.. i'm already proud no tv user ;)

but on the other hand most people hate to change any habits so.. lot of tv addiction,, internet addicts, anyway it would be awesome to go walk in the mopuntain instead of watching some retard show or anti-news ;)

but most imp. thing is that while ppl are at work its inevitable hearing radio or tv... or you meant just stop consuming fm/tv/net while being home?

If a whole workplace can take part in the project as well then cool. You can say stuff it’ll save energy and you never know some mainstream newspaper may get involved in this project as well…

Mind you they’d get involved with it for the wrong intentions so that’s a no!

But Hopefully most people will book time off work to get involved with this project. We need a good week to have it on. And we need to get it up and running ASAP so people have time to prepare for it also.

I think this is a great idea.....although I can see how some mass mediaholics are going to do it hard going cold turkey.....particularly those who are addicted to personality gossip.

But we'll be able to spot those suffering serious withdrawal....particularly at supermarkets, as they will be the ones causing all the trolley traffic jams in front of magazine stands as they slow down to crawl speed to get a quick side-ways glimpse at what the covers say Angelina and Paris are up this week. :D

Only thing for me is i'll need the internet to do university work. lol

Apart from that and avoiding the urge to go on facebook ill be ok! :D

Yes

Mainstream news does creep onto this forum.

Which is why I will probably be spending less and less time on these forums.

As for the project, it's a good idea, although I plan to stick with my regular dose of Planet Rock - as long as I can get my frigging headphones to work.

Yep! Great stuff from those who showed up this morning. Hopefully more will join in and really get the ideas flowing as how to get as many as possible involved in this project.

If you work in a place with lots of employees, rev them all up and try for 100% participation.

When in the Outback for a while, with nothing else around, a different feeling comes over you. I've spent far more time than most westerners travelling and being away from artificial things. Everything modern is stressful, electric light, traffic noise, concrete architecture, mobile phone masts etc.. I know full well what it is to be away from the man made environment this is why I'll be spending more than a week away at a time of my choosing.

I'm fortunate enough to believe in my convictions and be able to act on them.

I'll never forget the shock of watching TV again after being away from it for a year. As Stephen Fry once noted: 'Nothing in nature is ugly, only man made things are'. (Or words to that effect).

Getting away from the urban stress and electo smog does sound fantastic. I've only really done that once when getting away and I could really notice the difference in clarity of mind and spiritual contentedness.

It seems that in the uk, no matter where you find yourself, there is a phone mast near by. I'm sure the affect of these creeping in has been that gradual - a bit like the worn out shock absorber on a car. You really notice it once it's replaced.

My pc packed up a couple of weeks ago, it took a couple of days to repair. I noticed that I did think differently during that time, I found it easier to focus on the more relevant priorities. Cutting back, there is a definite improvement.

Are yes... But what if, the PTB latch onto the idea and re-schedule some dastardly deed to occur at the same time...?

Personally, I don't think we should take our eyes off them for one second!

this sounds like a plan to get everyone used to not having the internet, my advice is get in as much now while you can, before its taken away from us or some catastrophe knocks it out completely.

Well I think this is a very very very bad idea. Let those stupid kids (illuminists) run around making stupid plans and me missing out on that? No way dude. It's far too fun to watch :D

You guys go ahead and even board up your windows. I'll be having a smoke watching our kids kick their own head in.

I'm going to disconnect from my 'current' entire reality in a years time.

I'm saving up right now... ill be selling everything i own, including my music recording, studio equipment, guitar, bass, also my motorbike... in 12 months time i'm qutting my job, cancelling my internet, cancelling my gym membership, moving out, and i'm off travelling aroung India for at least a year... (I dont want to come back actually)

Everyhing which i currently identify as 'me' and what i do in my 'life' i will be getting completely rid of. I'm looking forward to it alot!

Anyone up for that?

...still waving, and wondering if maybe Reconnection Week isn't a better name for it.

Then again, since I didn't turn up for the meeting I think I'll politely tell myself to shut the fuck up.

I don't know how you can part with your guitar. For a musician, its part of their identity. Its what they run to, when they are down. But if you are going to to stimulated by travel, then maybe you won't miss it.:) Sounds like a great plan.....total freedom....I love it.

If not a Monkey House, then the world increasingly resembles a hive which, thanks to the mass media, vibrates at the same frequency. For example, when the stock market is plummeting, everyone is panicking. (When Money is God, an economic downturn becomes a spiritual crisis.)
