Hi , I'm just back from the vets. My daughter's cat got 'tinged' by a car down one side. Upper jaw has teeth bash upwards into jawbone that may need an operation if he can't eat in a couple of days. Hope you don't mind me posting on this subject, but I'm home alone and feel like shite.
His paws are damaged as well...all 4 of them. I can't stop crying. It's nice to know you are all there.

Tinmenace, Tony, Shodan, Cheeb, Limelady......many thanks for your feed back, makes a difference...a trouble shared and all that:)
The pain killer has zonked him out (hopefully for a day or so) they say they do their most healing when asleep. Just to see him with the tongue stuck out and drooling...ugh!...poor wee thing. Apparently that happens if they have taken a hit from a car.
I took some 'Rescue Remedy' to calm me down and I'm OK too.
This wee cat has used up just about all of his lives.......
Love

Poor baby. If he's completely zonked, be sure to turn him around every so often so that he doesn't get sore.

Yes, I love all animals but cats and I have a special connection. Mine have me very well trained indeed. Although they have a cat door, they still have me open and close the front door for them :D
My husband says I spoil them (with love), but the thing is that cats were worshiped as gods in ancient Egypt, and they've just never forgotten it. *shrugs* :D So, really, what is a mortal such as myself supposed to do?

Hi Pollock....sorry about Samson...big hugs to you both. Tinmenace...I personally think the domestic cats are more than pets.....they are here to relay some wonderful spiritual knowledge to us...not least unconditional love...that goes for dogs too.
I have photos of kitten to send through...just not sure how to.

OK so I don't want to throw a dampener on things but just want to relate this story...
When I was a kid I chased a friend into the road. He was hit by an articulated truck and pretty much killed instantly.
It was a very sickening scene.
Years afterwards I was walking my dog and he bolted out in the exact same spot where the kid was killed.
It was like the dog understood my unresolved grief and wanted to help me through it.
In the hours leading up to his death we had this amazing communication like both of us knew he was going to die but he was letting me know not to be afraid.
It was about 10 or 12 years ago but I still think about it.

Big Hugs TC. Yes, I can understand how that would haunt a person.
We are all here to do what we are all here to do, and everything happens as it should.

i hope your daughter's cat recuperates soon Lemonique, but as many have said here, it takes a lot to keep a cat down.
my girlfriend had a cat when she was young, some friend of humanity shot it, they thought it must have gone away to die, but three weeks later it was back, as if nothing had happened.
best wishes that side.

Hi Lemonique,
I just wanted to pass on to you my enormous love and support. I am also an avid animal lover. Especially cats. My friend just had to put her cat down and it was not easy for her, understandably.
All I can say is this ... When I lost my younger brother who was murdered in 1984, he was 23 and I, 24. I used to say one of the biggest comforts I realized having was the 'knowing' I was not alone.
Know this: YOU ARE NOT ALONE and I am sending you, your daughter and the kitty, a big hug.
I have been there, done that.
It is the little things in life that mean so much.
A simple smile along the way, a hug, or a gentle touch.
Even a kiss …
And may we never forget this.
This is how we can move mountains.
I will tell you a very humbling story that comes from the deepest recesses of my heart and caused me to react in a moment of my life.
One that I feel would make a world of difference if we all took the time?
To breathe,
To live our dreams,
To do what we know to be right!
To take one step back,
Removed from this manufactured reality.
To create co-existence and come together in harmony.
I was driving alone on a single road towards home one day on the Isle of Wight. The sky was grey, the clouds were high though, not low, and the rain was falling gently, but enough to get truly wet if you stepped out in it!
;)
To my left and to my right were rolling green hills of the countryside.
I noticed something in the road ahead.
It immediately puzzled me as to why all these cars were passing over it as if they couldn’t be bothered?
Then when the car in front of me passed over this object that I saw from the distance before, and was now directly in my path and soon to be under my wheels?
I stopped my car!
Put on my ‘emergency’ lights.
This is when “Time stood still”.
Nothing mattered but the Here and NOW.
I got out of my car and walked towards this object in the road.
The rain was pouring upon me and upon everything around
Including the object on the ground.
I knelt down and realized it was a wee little rabbit.
Thank goodness it was not hurt.
It was frozen, afraid and all alone not knowing its way home.
The cars piled up behind mine … but interestingly?
Not one honked their horn.
They seemed to be waiting patiently?
I was in a world beyond
Nothing mattered but the safety and love of another life.
As I was kneeling beside it
Watching the raindrops hit and bounce off its beautiful long eyelashes
I said “You must go, for if you don’t, someone is surely to run you over”
I patted its little bum gently as I said this and eventually,
it hopped off the road into the green grasses.
A car coming from the other way was a woman who rolled her windows down and obviously saw what happened and said “Good on ya!” as I got up to walk back to my car. (She noticed me two days later in the grocery store, funny enough, and introduced herself. And here I thought I was invisible! ;) )
It was an experience I will carry forever.
These things are not explainable as to why you do them.
You do them because it is what is right to do.
No matter what.
It was so beautiful and I am telling you this to let you know that you are not alone Lemonique… nor is your family, your daughter nor the kitty being loved and cared for during this time.
I hope this has helped lift you and everyone in some way?
Much love, pamela
This is co-existence and love without condition for me:

Yes, that was a beautiful story.
Lemonique, I hope and pray for your cat's swift and complete recovery. the good news is that if a cat can survive an accident like that then they usually learn their lesson and are much more careful on the roads in future.

Thanks Hagbard!! Really nice story Pam! thanks for that too...Garth...hey brother, what can I say? X, Lumukanda hi!, I know someone who (brace yourself) hit a cat over the head with a hammer a couple of times  they thought they were doing the critter a favour by 'putting it out of it's misery, as it was supposedly really sick or something. Guess what? yep, the cat came back!! better than ever:D never looked back, and if there had been any sickness it was completely gone! I kid you not.
Truth Commission...thanks for your words.....makes us wonder why these things happen..it's all for a reason we know not much about. Love to you too.
I have lost a baby in the past, she was born handicapped, she died at 8 months, so one knows about some of these things.......(no replies to this please)
The morning report on the kitten is quite good. He's lifting his head, and eyeing up the birds shadows on the curtains (he's got as much chance of catching a bird right now as whistling Dixie with a mouth full of water:D
We will check with the Vet later re progress. He hasn't had water or food...which is a bit of a worry.
Thanks all.......nice to see there are animal lovers out there just as daft? as myself.

He probably won't be in the mood to eat for some time, and will probably get quite skinny, especially if he was hurt around his mouth.
Check with your vet, but I would get some high nutrition milk (like kitten milk) and mush in some high quality wet food so he can almost suck it up, y'know?
It'll take some time for him to heal, I reckon.

[QUOTE]IRIDESCENCE: Yesterday in Brazil, at the Curitiba Botanical Garden, photographer Mendonca Jr glanced up from the statuary and beheld a colorful iridescent cloud:
http://spaceweather.com/swpod2007/28may07/MENDON%C7A-JR_strip.jpg
Photo details: Sony H-5, 200mm, ISO 100, 1/1000 sec.
"The silhouette below the cloud is not a real person, but a statue called the Mother," he explains. She is located at the center of a fountain--hence the splashing water.
There is water in the cloud, too. Tiny water droplets diffract sunlight, giving rise to the cloud's soft pink and green colors. The key word is tiny. For diffraction to work properly, the cloud's droplets must be about 1000 times smaller than the ponderous drops we see splashing around the statue. Tiny droplets, big droplets. Altogether, "it was a lovely scene," he says.[QUOTE]

my heart goes out to you!! must have been awful for you and your daughter lemonique and more so for kitty! i have always had my cats as indoor cats as i was too scared to let them out living by busy roads but i relented when i saw how happy they were being able to have their freedom so i let em out now- i do worry but the funny thing is- we live in a cul-de-sac/close so they never venture any further than our close, they never go near the main road! Milo likes the car park at the back of the house and Katy mans the front - Tom is like general manager who swaps between the two over-seeing all areas!! lol!! :D
i'd be heart broken if anything happened to any of them but i suppose we must let them take their paths too! My cats are never considered 'just cats' they are well and truly part of the family and treated as so, and i suppose as we dont have children they are my babies!! :)
anyway- all the love and healing to kitty-and a speedy recovery!:)

Hi Lookfar, Thanks!!! Kitten is now at the Vets for his Operation. Apparently, he has a tooth that was bashed sideways into his gum...this will be removed. Boy, was he a lucky cat! could have been a heck of a lot worse.
We live in New Zealand. My daughter's cab driver was a huge big Samoan guy. You know the type (don't mess with me babe ) Hmphhh etc
Well, the cat was doing a fair bit of wailing in the cab....this guy started talking to him....all cutsey like. Turns out he has 3 cats himself.....Bootsy, Mitzy and Kitten (Another one:confused:) Ha Ha Just goes to prove you can't go by appearances eh??
Thanks for everything,
