Party leader Liv Signe Navarsete has considered to draw the Center party out of the government because of Tjenestedirektivet.
In the Norwegian EU delegation's meeting room on Thursday at 0900 Center Party (SP) Head Liv Signe Navarsete made it clear that the party takes dissent on the so-called Tjenestedirektivet. This means that SPs ministers will vote against the Tjenestedirektiv when the matter again comes before Christmas to be treated by the government and the party's at Stortinget.
- Norway should refuse
The recommendation to take dissent comes after a unanimous advice from both county leaders and parliament. The Center believes that Norway should therefore refuse to follow Tjenestedirektivet which is EEA relevant. Navrasete answered no on whether she had considered pulling out of Stoltenberg government. She said that the party has achieved much in the government, but that they would put down the foot of this directive.
- Can not guarantee
The reason is that the government can not guarantee that the directive will ensure that Norwegian pay and working conditions will apply to foreign workers. The party believes that the directive, which is part of the EEA agreement, opens for social dumping.
Q But you sit in a government and take several dissenting in the European Economic Affairs? - I see no other cases where it would be natural now. It is not so that we often dissent, "she says, and says that the same happened under Bondevik first government, when SP went against the so-called veterinary directive.
- Not at war
Navarsete attempted to allay the impression of contradiction in the government. There is no talk of war. We have respect for each other's point of view, "she said of her government colleagues.
Labor is for the Tjenestedirektivet, and will gain support in parliament from the opposition so that it is adopted. So therfore Norway for the first time will use the booking right in the EEA Agreement, also known as the veto right.
