History books no longer to be written???

Statement just made on BBC by our PM Gordie Brown about the election of Barack Obama:

"This is a moment that will live in history for as long as history books are written."

What a strange thing to say, "for as long as history books are written"!!! Any ideas what he could be suggesting there or is that just a normal thing to say?

Maybe they will be written digitally and just like all of the truth on the internet, they can be wiped into oblivion for all time with one flick of the switch of HAARP.
