Update - 27th July 2003

I've received a number of emails regarding the small LED device found in the field. This was found by my colleague Freddy Silva on the morning after the formation was reported. He passed it onto me for subsequent analysis (as I've studied electronics). It's a very simple device consisting of a green Light Emitting Diode (LED) connected to a battery via a small on/off switch. It was wrapped in plastic tape, which was still sticky and indicative that it hadn't been left out for long as there was no weather erosion on it. Indeed, it still worked and could be operated.

I've no idea what it could be used for other than a sighting device in the dark. It might have been dropped by hoaxers or it may have been deliberately 'planted' by debunkers/hoaxers.

The device is still in my possession.

Anyone know if this LED device was ever traced to any person , was it Military in origin ?, having a kind of debate with some dudes on a football site asking about it, one question from one of them was " why would aliens use sticky tape and a not so advanced device if they are so technology advanced"?. i did state it could have been left by debunkers, anyone in the know about this, cheers in advance for any info on it.:)

"Beware the bearers of FALSE gifts & their BROKEN PROMISES.
Much PAIN but still time. BELIEVE There is GOOD out there.
We OPpose DECEPTION.
Conduit CLOSING (BELL SOUND)"

Probably some home made torch or IR flicker device. I wouldn't worry bout it anyway, weather a debunker left it or not. No 1 can debunk that crop circle!!!!!!! But they have tried though!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

It sounds like something I built years back and took up to the field and left there. The idea was I could see it flashing from my bedroom window at night. :D

Maybe a fake car alarm that someone discarded for one reason or another?

The device is still in my possession. Not very useful as a sighting device and it sounds like someone has a hole in their pocket. Obviously someone was there.

As for tracing where it came from, that seems very unlikely because LEDs are as common as muck.
