This is the camp site you stay at there.... i am pretty sure its the only one... of course there should be B&Bs around the place if you dont like camping... allthough its a pretty comfy camp site.... shops 10 min drive away and loads of pub food and stuff...

http://www.cropcircleconnector.com/anasazi/barge99.html

Also this place is well worth a visit..... only 10 min drive away..

http://www.timetravel-britain.com/07/April/avebury.shtml

It has a really really old church near it bang on a lay line... somthing very odd about the church...only small but interesting...

its another stone circle like Stonehenge but much bigger...and the pub thats smack bang in the middle?? "The Red Lion" ...mmmm

Yeah the church at Avebury is right on the ley lines. The male & female lines actually cross just behind (close to the stones). I did some dowsing there are few years ago, it was amazing. Silbury Hill & West Kennet Long Barrow just down the road too!!

I have some time off early June so I might head on down for a few days to take in some of that earth energy. I really need to take some time out.

Hi all

Yep, the Barge Inn is a good place to camp. My friends and I have been using it as a base camp for more than 10 years when circlehunting or visiting Avebury for the Summer solstice. (Warning - the camp site gets very, very busy on the solstice and is often not too pleasant - brew crew and weekend millionaires). May and July though are fantastic times to visit - you've always got the pub if it rains. ;)

If you want a fire - it gets very chilly, even in Summer - take a barbeque or a brazier (we made one from an old washing machine drum and bolted 3 copper pipes to the side for legs). You'll get grief from the owners if you're daft enough to light a fire on the grass!

I can more or less guarantee that you'll meet som interesting folks - often after dark around a fire and enjoying some nice herbs.

As for circle hoaxers - yep, they're around too if you know who to ask, but don't let that put you off - even the hoaxers have some interesting anomolies to report.

And lastly - on a summer's morning with the sun just appearing and the mist rolling accross the fields and the canal, take a quiet stroll and listen to the dawn chorus - it is trully amazing!

Peace

yeah it was quite a creepy chruch.... you could feel somthing about the place, I actualy had a vibe that maybe the odd sacrifice took place there behind closed doors...., the cross was also very creepy...just a wood cross with barb wire rapped around it... and im not sure how old, but a very very old copy of the bible was there on a table for all to read...

I got the feeling you get a few hoaxers that are only to quick to mock anyone who think they are anything more than human art.... but as usual they just ignore facts.... you also come across quite a few people who you can tell are too self contious to let on that they feel there is more to it than a human thing... but they are afraid to let it on.....

I dont care, I allways come out full force saying what I think they are.

its the kind of place you can go there and do nothing but still not be bored :)

Well I can't speak for those who will be attending (I live in Oz so its a bit of a hike for a camping trip for me), but I'm sure many on the forum will be really looking forward to meeting you M3!

You should definitely go along and enjoy the experience amongst friends.

Crop circles IMO contain messages as I'm sure some of you will agree - and I've found that to distinguish a fake crop circle from a real one is quite simple - a real one in no way damages the crop itself while a fake one will either look shoddy or the crop will be damaged. (sorry for the size of the pic)

Well that's that settled then!

I just hope somebody takes a video camera on this trip....be lovely to see you all, and the crop circles too of course, but also M3's talk on Freemasonry sounds like it may be the highlight.

Then you could post the vid up on YouTube and post the link here.

I was there last weekend (bank holiday),It was brilliant.
loads of interesting people ,just one big party atmosphere

I highly reccomend it, if you get thirsty and like altering your brain chemistry.

Although the pub is expensive
£3.10 a pint for heavens sake!

just got my computer back, after being infested by virus???

I now have one less company to trust H.Packard, they sent me a pup back, but at least its working.

Anyhow I'll definately go to the barge again,I got the impression that most people were familiar with each other

The Barge Inn Isnt exactly ay Avebury,Its in the middle of nowhere,

The nearest town -Pudsley or Devises, about 8-10 miles away,Its best to be well stocked up with "provisions" before you get there

I spent 5 hours wandering about for a local shop, but there arent any ,its a great place to be lost in especially when you find the canal, you can choose to go one way or the other

one way will lead you back to the Barge Inn ,the other is a very pleasant walk ,
whatever way you look at it ,as far as choices go its a win, win, situation,

if your going the wrong way you can hitch a lift on a canal boat ,what a way to travel!

I would really like to get a few shots on film of crop circles, not filmed any before.

It would make a great little film.

A-men to Hp- everyone should give a miss to any company that lays off 6000 workers!
A camping thread? I must say some of the chaps do appear very camp indeed. Take a peek at the "David Icke Stole My Bike" thread.
