What is wrong with the quote funtion button, it only seems to allow quoting links now, Every time I use it, it is emitting text other than URL's. Strange, very strange, any ideas anyone?. It used to be O.K

I think it didn't work for you on the other thread emma because you were quoting a post that already had a quote inserted in it, so YOUR quote functrion only picked up the link that was outside of the inserted quote.....if you get what I mean :D

I run a forum too, my quote function quotes everything, on here, I have to spend a long long long long long long long long long long long long time making my posts because the quote function on here doesn't work as well as others.
I also have to spend a lot of time editing mistakes out but I cant blame that on anything
EDIT everyone is using the quote function I guess, any 'changes' that can happen????
its far easier to remove quotes you dont want to use, than open many windows or going back all the time, finding the quotes you want to use

Yeah, this is where the "copy and paste" thing comes in really handy, then you can enclose your paste by highlighting it then pressing the "quote" funtion. You can then write above it joe blogs said like this....

Yeah I know.... that was the point of my last post. :D
One reason the quote function only quotes the latest post, is that its tedius to scroll through posts with multiple quotes within quotes within quotes....

It took me twenty 'backs' and at least that many copy and pastes and I still Don't have the quotes I am refering too, can you see...
And saying it is tedious to read posts with lots of quotes in just..... who said it was tedioius, is someone else making our decisions for us?
I think its important to read what people are referring to, they are providing the information to help the reader make a more balanced decision or choice.
IF WE encourage others to ignore what is relevent or important, where does that leave us, ..... open to constructive criticism ???
I believe its important to read all the way to the bottom of a post

is this an accusation that emmas computer is at fault ?
I can see people will not like me for this

Forgive me I know you are a forum advisor, your pooint wasn't very clear, it came across to me as 'use copy and paste and the back button lots to quote what you want to quote, as we have switched off the full quote function.

Thanks for the one reason sean, I think its a problem, you don't, I can see how you don't see it from other users angles, THE point in using quotes is because you want to refer to things people have said without taking it out of context, one decision makes that VERY tedious, would you rather I didnt subscribe and encourage others to use this site by financing it (in a small way, I admit)
I am just trying to communicate effectively, there are other groups that try to stop you doing that, but that is why I payed to come to this website INSTEAD!
the quote function doesn't let you quote within quote within quote, automatically. It uses the last posters posts and puts that in quote tags. If you want to quote more, you have to enter the bb code. simple as.

It took me twenty nine minutes to do that last post. maybe i dont have time to subscribe to forums yet!
I can see why david icke, chooses not to openly use his own forum, which is great by the way, it is one of lots that are full of people coming together and communicating effectively
I feel sorry for the people who agree with all we say but cant be arsed to do anything about it,
Don't worry, it'll come quicker in time.

can you point me to a page that tells us about that? because if you quote 1 person that has quoted another person, then you dont get what the original quote says

Yes, the quote function automatically grabs the posters quote you are quoting from, ignoring any other quotes they have reffered to unfortunately. So if you want to quote from a post that has another quote inside of it, you'll have to do that manually.
Main reason - if the quote function quoted the whole post, including all the quotes contained within, you might end up with posts that have 100 quotes nested within eachother.

it does in the private messages please dont turn it off there, It allows me to easily remove all the quotes I dont want or need and so saves bandwidth for everybody.

Thanks for your time sean, I honestly really do appreciate it,
I really do understand where you are coming from, honestly, I know most things about the code that makes up this forum, please trust me, I don't need it explaining but others might, if you feel it necassary to explain, please do, for others sakes, they may not understand, but I do.
and I know the real reason why the decision is taken, but I think it destroys free speech as people will find it tedious to keep threads going to a point.
whats the aim of this forum? I could answer for you, but that would mean I am not allowing your choice, to come before I respond.
EDIT: your quote advocates ignorance....
