I read those comments and was greatly encouraged. I was looking at stories this time last year and reader comments on the BBC were depressing.

Even though I see the nightmare unfolding with frightening speed, I can't shake (not that I'm trying too!) the feeling in my gut/intuition that a major awakening is under way. I bloody hope so too.

I like this idea.

For too long, Joe and Jane Public have looked the other way while the tiny minority, about 3%, of the population trash public property (ie OUR property) and/or make the lives of the rest of us, an utter misery.

With 6 million extra eyes on our streets, that's 1 in 10, nearly all with mobile phones, the next time one of the ferret-faced types urinate in a bus shelter or phone box, spray/scratch their names on a bus/tube/train window, mug a bloke on his way home in the evening for his take-away etc. etc......then he is minutes away from facing a policeman/CSO.

Now if we could only have another 50,000 prison places to get them off our streets forever.
