Fulton John Sheen
Sheen, Fulton John 1895-1979, American Roman Catholic clergyman, b. El Paso, Ill., grad. St. Viator College, Bourbonnais, Ill. (B.A., 1917; M.A., 1919). He studied at the Catholic Univ. of America (B.A., 1920), the Univ. of Louvain (Ph.D., 1923) in Belgium and the Univ. of Rome (D.D., 1924). Ordained a priest in 1919, he joined (1926) the faculty of Catholic Univ. He was appointed national director of the Society for the Propagation of the Faith (1950), titular bishop (1951) of Caesariana, N.Y., bishop (1966) of Rochester, N.Y., and titular archbishop (1969) of Newport, England. Bishop Sheen was known for his attacks on Communism, Freudianism, and birth control and his support of compulsory religious exercises in schools. An outstanding orator, he had large radio and television audiences. He was the author of numerous books, including The Cross and the Crisis (1938), Communism and the Conscience of the West (1948), Life Is Worth Living (5 vol., 1953-57), Life of Christ (1958), The Power of Love (1965), Guide to Contentment (1967), and Children and Parents (1970).

August 13, 1904, in Long Branch, New Jersey according to his death certificate. I did not find his baptismal record in either New York City or in New Jersey. Since he was baptized in West End, New Jersey his birth most likely also occurred in New Jersey. The birth probably occurred at home and was not reported.
Baptism: Charles Walsh, born in unknown, August 13, 1904, child of Joseph Walsh and Maggie Langan, was baptized in St Michael's' Roman Catholic Church, 800 Ocean Avenue, West End, New Jersey, by the Rev. Edward Cahill, on August 21, 1904, sponsors, Michael Walsh and Ellen Walsh.

Charles Walsh graduated for Regis High School in 1921.
Career:
Charles played minor league baseball in Salem and Lawrence, Massachusetts. He once pitched a doubleheader and won both games giving up only one run. In 1927 he was signed by the Pittsburgh Pirates. He stayed with the Pirates until 1932 when he joined the New York City Fire Department.
From an undated newspaper article:
"Walsh has been in professional baseball for only two years, and has brilliant prospects. In 1925 he was with the Watsons in the Bronx, and also pitched for the Seventh Regiment. He was signed by Salem of the New England League and made a splendid record with that team in 1926.
In 1927 he was transferred to Lawrence, and despite poor support attracted sufficient attention to warrant his being drafted by the Pirates"
Charles Walsh was a member of the New York City Fire Department for 30 years. He served for 10 years as the Company officer in Harlem and 14 years as Deputy Chief. He taught fire administration at Queens College, Rutgers University and the Fire College of the New York Fire Department.
Charles wrote several books on firefighting including, Firefighting Strategy and Leadership in 1963, Modern Guidelines for Fire Control in 1970 and The Fire Problem and Its Solution (Second Edition) published in 1992 at age 88.
He was awarded the George W Steele Award for Literary Achievements in Fire Science and Education given by the New Jersey State Fireman's Mutual Benevolent Association on October 15, 1976.

Jersey City,NJ - New York City Fire Department Battalion Chief Rochelle "Rocky" Jones will speak at Saint Peter's College at Noon on Monday, March 22, in Pope Lecture Hall on the College's Jersey City campus. Jones, who is the highest ranking female in FDNY history, is the featured speaker for the College's Women's History Month celebration. The event is free and open to the public. She began working as a firefighter inWilliamsburg, Brooklyn and then transferred to Engine 159 in Staten Island. Jones was promoted in 1995 and became the first female lieutenant in the FDNY. Four years later, Jones was promoted to captain and was the Commanding Officer of Engine 4 in Manhattan's Financial District during the events of September 11, 2001. Jones lost 14 firefighters who rushed to assist in theWorld Trade Towers attacks, including Paul Tetgmeier, the brother of Saint Peter's College Assistant to the Vice President of Student Affairs Susan Tegtmeier. "My brother loved Rocky," Sue Tegtmeier said. "She had the respect of all of the firefighters who worked for her. She has been an incredible help to our family as we continue to recover from losing Paul. She has been with us at his Memorial Service and the 9/11 memorials and anniversaries. I am thrilled that Rocky agreed to speak at Saint Peter's. I can't imagine a more inspirational person to have on campus during Women's History Month. So folks what did we notice apart from the obvious in the above? Notice the date of March 22? March is the third month therefore 3 22! Whats significant about this? Jersey City,NJ - New York City Fire Department Battalion Chief Rochelle "Rocky" Jones will speak at Saint Peter's College at Noon on Monday, March 22, in Pope Lecture Hall on the College's Jersey City campus. Jones, who is the highest ranking female in FDNY history, is the featured speaker for the College's Women's History Month celebration. The event is free and open to the public. Call 201-915-9140 for more information. Jones has been a FDNY trailblazer since joining the department in 1982 after spending the first six years of her professional career in the banking industry. She began working as a firefighter inWilliamsburg, Brooklyn and then transferred to Engine 159 in Staten Island. Jones was promoted in 1995 and became the first female lieutenant in the FDNY. Four years later, Jones was promoted to captain and was the Commanding Officer of Engine 4 in Manhattan's Financial District during the events of September 11, 2001. Jones lost 14 firefighters who rushed to assist in theWorld Trade Towers attacks, including Paul Tetgmeier, the brother of Saint Peter's College Assistant to the Vice President of Student Affairs Susan Tegtmeier. "My brother loved Rocky," Sue Tegtmeier said. "She had the respect of all of the firefighters who worked for her. She has been an incredible help to our family as we continue to recover from losing Paul. She has been with us at his Memorial Service and the 9/11 memorials and anniversaries. I am thrilled that Rocky agreed to speak at Saint Peter's. I can't imagine a more inspirational person to have on campus during Women's History Month. The FDNY administration was a man's world until Rocky came along." Since 9/11, Jones has continued her rise up the FDNY ranks. She was promoted again in June 2003 to Battalion Chief and now serves at various locations throughoutNew York City. Saint Peter's College is the Jesuit College of New Jersey. Founded in 1872, Saint Peter's has an enrollment of more than 3,000 students in undergraduate and graduate programs. The main campus is located inJersey Cityand a branch campus, specializing in adult education, is located in Englewood Cliffs.
