What do you want to bet they'll now be an intelligence report about Weapons of Mass Destruction in Cuba!?:rolleyes::rolleyes: It's so predictable. Wherever oil is struck war breaks out;
"for God and Country and... what time does the bank open?":D:eek:

It is comical.
Oil rises because the world is running out of oil
Then 3 months later the world starts finding oil all over the place.
sigh.

Yeah, maybe Ian Crane is right when he says that Peak Oil is a total scam.:confused: This is especially the case if oil is not a fossil fuel (Background: http://www.davidicke.com/forum/showthread.php?t=26909 The idea that oil is a fossile fueld like coal and gas etc dates back to an 18th Century Russian geologist whose name escapes me. It's is repeated "knowledge" that is rarely questioned, but in some places in Siberia they've left depleted oil wells and comke back a few years later to find that pressure has built up again.:eek::cool: and more oil can be extracted.

If it ever came out that oil is a renewable resource and not a fossil fuel you can imagine what it would do to the price!:D:eek:

good point about oil not being a fossil.
the oil in cuba is one mile below the seabed.
how can fossils be that deep?

The oil comanies will be descending on the country liek a pack of wolves and will demand complete control of the deposit. If the Cuban govt balks in any way they'll end up like Mossadegh's Iran: depsoed in a CIA coup, a new "missile crisis", a Bay of Pigs again. Or something even more bizzarre!
I can see the headlines now:
BEAKING NEWS!- Osama bin Laden Holed Up in Cuba!
The US State department today deamanded that the Cuban govt hand over Osama bin Laden to justice. Just this morning it was revealled tha the renegade warlord has been taking shelter in a cave in Cuba!

I am suspicious of the US/Cuban supposed animosity, if the US wanted to take over Cuba they could have done so at any time after the demise of the USSR. The US has been accusing Cuba of sponsoring terrorism, actual terrorism and being involved in the arms trade, they could have swamped Cuba in say, 1992 onward but didn't. It's not like the US to have such a thorn in their side for decades, especially one being so near. I can't see the US being cautious of taking them over, the Bay Of Pigs was the last attempt that we know of yet that was unbelievably half hearted.
Then that's just me be being totally sceptical.:p

Obviously Cuba must still be useful to them in some way... For now;). How long will its usefulness last?
