there's probably already a thread on this but I couldn't find it.

Most of us are aware that 911 has been predicted in works of art like the Lone Gunmen TV series pilot, the cover of the hiphop group The Coup released in early 2001, and the cover of Dream Theatre's Live Scenes from New York City released on 911 and quickly withdrawn due to it's cover feauturing a big apple and a NYC skyline burning.
But Radiohead got one step further.

This is a flyer I was handed for the Belgian Radiohead shows on mo 11 SEP and TU 12 SEP 2000.
I saw them that year on my birthday SEP 15 in the Netherlands.
It's very spooky that the artwork depicts people falling from high towers
Much more weirdness was to come in the artwork of their summer 2001 release AMNESIAC.

NOTICE TO THE PUBLIC

we are not scaremongering this is really happening--while you were asleep

(under the graphic)

RADIOHEAD
under a big top
trickledown compressor
unsurpassed novelties
giant cogs turn
well adjusted
the ice age is coming
rubber bullets
last remaining
polar bears
a genuine freakshow
150.000 volts of electricity
mobiles chirping
cracks appearing beneath the veneer
abbatoir noises
weak reception
our name is legion
carrots & sticks
packt up like sardines in a crush tin box

(very small print)
SHELLSHOCK, PARALYSIS, SLEEPWALKING, any Child who is Backward in Study and BAD HABITS of any kind PERMANENTLY REMOVED, Etc.
For a due appreciation of the above INCOMPREHENSIBLE MUSICAL COMBINATION much and a little more is depending on the Imagination of the Audience.

FEAR STALKS THE LAND!

I am awake at 4AM to the terrifying undeniable truth that there is nothing I can do to stop the monster

---------------------------------------------------------------------

So we've got this flyer one year in advance, having not only the 911 date but also the second date stupid bloody tuesday.
According to the flyer the capacity for the concert was 10000, which was the estimated deathtoll on the day itself before it turned out that loads of people hadn't arrived at work in the towers yet, or were warned.

There's an interview with Radiohead's Thom Yorke in may 2001 in the NME mag in which he states that if he would tell what he knew he'd be done in by MI5.
It seems to have been purged from internet, hope someone can dig it up again.

Here's another great pic from their June 2001 Album Amnesiac, It's not the WTC but it features twin towers prominently

There is a lot in Radiohead's artwork, my scanner is broke so I can't upload any stuff now, but in their summer 2001 album Amnesiac there is also a pic depicting a load of twingraves.

3 questions:

does anyone know which city is depicted in the pic above?
does anyone know what the starconstellations in it mean?
can anyone dig up that interview with Radiohead's singer Thom Yorke from may 2001 in the NME mag in which he states he's been threatened by MI5?

Thom Yorke’s NME interview

Posted on May 8th, 2001.

Thom Yorke has spoken out against the secretive power of the UK intelligence service, MI5, in an exclusive interview with NME.COM.
MI5, which is famously secretive and unaccountable, is involved in intelligence work to investigate and counter covertly organised ‘threats’. These include terrorism, subversion, espionage, serious crime and the proliferation of weapons of mass destruction.

Talking about the ‘Reclaim The Streets’ protests last year, Yorke claimed the authorities were closely monitoring protesters. He told NME.COM: “I know some stuff about MI5 that would shit your brain. But I can’t tell you, ‘cos they’ll do it to me, too. Seriously. And I’m not winding you up, either.”

Thom Yorke has broken his silence to give a rare interview, which will appear in next week’s issue of NME (May 15). The singer, who has not spoken to the paper for five years, explained his decision to relent. “I just got sick of holding grudges basically,” said Yorke. “Enough’s enough, it’s boring and I can’t be arsed any more, really.”

Wow that guy is amazing!

I used to have these kind of visions as a kid and i would draw and paint them, but ive lost alot of them from moving house etc over the years. There is one that i dont think i have anymore :-( that i just remembered from watching this. I would have been about 1994 i painted it and depicted a world and space with a God figure floating behind the planet and giving it the middle finger and on the countries of the planet were words and stuff and sharks in the sea and im sure America had a plane crashing into it! Hope ive still got it somewhere!
