Perhaps the same reason humans help animals, a sense of compassion, desire to improve well being for other creatures, etc.

Yes, there are some people that help one another. But I do notice even since I was a child how community spirit has diminished, how people have been coerced into thinking the bogey man is behind every door and so they barely speak to neighbours or strangers. :(

It would really depend on the species. Some may want us as food, others may view us as pets, some as slaves. Then there are those who think we have room to evolve and others that just love us. Idk, I have no idea what any of the species and their values are like. But there will be mixed views. Some just may be amused to watch us, whether we succeed or not.
That's also why you don't really know how to approach any of them because how are you going to know if they are negative or positive?

According to the channels of barbara marciniak, there are a couple of reasons, at least for the pleiadians. The Pleiadian teachings can be likened to that of a shaman, that ancient sect of consciousness which has served as intermediary between the realms of the physical and the spiritual, leading people to self-discovery. . . . The Pleiadians, through Barbara Marciniak, get their point across in a simple, entertaining manner, not entirely unlike good guru wisdom but on a more cosmic level.
She explains in her books that Earth is a library of information and humans are the only keys to activate this information.
Light in these terms are synonymous for information.
Also in her book "Earth: Pleiadian Keys to the Living Library" they explain that they feel responsible for our current situation, somehow... Although I'm not sure exactly how. And now they're trying to correct their mistake.
A lot of her information (that pre-dates Icke's work on these subjects) are very very similar. She also mentions the reptilians in her work and their role as our unseen controllers.

Well I suppose it save a lot of time not having to do any real research.
For example Pleiades is a new star cluster, younger that earth sun, the stars of that cluster are still young and hot and are unlikely to have produced any planets suitable for life, in fact any good telescope will show the Pleiades is still surrounded by nebulas gas’s left over from its creation
The little purple people who live in my upper right molar tell me that people who “channel” info should be punched repeatedly until they admit they are “making that shit up”.

Yeah. The Plejarens (which everyone says are Pleiadians) told Billy Meier that they weren't from the Pleiades and that they couldn't support physical life in the Pleiades.
However, the Pleiadians are a different group everyone mixes up. The Pleiadians are not physical beings. They are other-dimensional beings, similar to the reptilians. The Pleiades do not support life in this dimension.
