It is my opinion that nobody is banned for having an opinion. They may be suspended for becoming abusive whilst giving that opinion.

Those who are banned are trolls, those who continue abuse after being suspended on a number of ocassions, forum spanners who just post garbage to get a reaction, and those with multiple ids.

Maybe a mod will clarify this :p

A person should not be baned permanently. If Admins want to punish a person than ban him/her for TEN DAYS only.

Ban should be a punishment and NOT an execution, or David Icke has to review his INFINITE LOVE idea. :)

Exactly, these words could be anything. For example an apple could be called fuck and vice versa. Would you feel insulted if anyone said if you wanted to eat the "F" word? I believe that it was the ultra-liberal attitude towards the "F" word from Harris (he expressed his opinion in official statement regarding that matter) which led to the downfall of his Forum.

The "F" word is a very diverse, and, useful, explanitive. It's a word that has many meanings. Even those with a very good command of "English" linguistical skill , use it today in all walks of life.

When I first clapped eyes the Gizeh Pyramids, at first I had no words at all, just sheer Awe.....when I did think of a word later in my mind it was "FuuuuuuuK" like meaning "WoooooooW!!

Should we scensor the mind of another, is it really our job to judge, I KNOW its not my job.

Nobody gets banned here unless they have displayed repeatedly abusive behaviour towards others members or moderators. As you all know, swearing is not a big issue here unless its abusively aimed at another.

We debate long and hard about those who are banned because it is not something any of us like to do. But some people just refuse to respond to friendly reminders, and the warnings we issue.

We have a job to keep this place as user-friendly as possible for ALL members, and we wouldn't need to be here doing it if all forum members could modify their own behaviour while in the company of others. Our role is to decide what is acceptable or not acceptable within the forum guidelines, and there are times we make decisions based on information that has not been posted on the threads.

The only thing any of you have REALLY been asked to do here is be polite to and respectful of others.

Is that REALLY that hard for some to accept that you keep feeling the need to poke sticks at the moderators?

Problem - people are posting crap and insulting each other
Solution 1 - lets ban them
Solution 2 - lets give them a ability to filter it out

Problem - there is a tree blocking the sunshine from shining in though the window
Solution 1 - we demolish the house and rebuild it few feets away
Solution 2 - we get rid of the god damn tree

Quite often there are multiple solution to a 1 problem. Some solutions work better depending on the situation.

Religious people say: "GOD loves every one of us" meanwhile they go out and march protesting against gays or say the believers of their faith are better than others.

People in this forum who have power say: "Icke is right when he says people are free to express themselves as they please and get/not-get offended by it", while they ban the crap out of people for what they say.

I'd like to think of myself as an adult and I can make my own decisions, I don't need anyone to babysit me and say what I can be told and what not.

I have seen people get banned and then go on another forum and completely lie there arses off as to why they were banned.....

I think people get the wrong idea when the word 'freedom' gets mentioned. Yeah freedom is great. Freedom means that you can do what you want. Its your life. Ok fine do what you want. But just remember that with your freedom comes consequences.

Yes one is free to do as one pleases. This does not necissarily mean that you can do what the hell you want without reprisal or consequences.

Freedom of choice is fine. We all have it. (to a certain degree) But freedom from consequences is a totally different kettle of fish.

There have been replies from moderators on this thread, and still there has been no direct discussion in regards to the issue that I have raised. Five moderators, to my knowledge, have either replied or viewed this thread. What would be the point to "kick it upstairs by PM to Sean" ???

If a 'Forum Advisor' (Montag) abuses their authority for whatever reason, and then the matter is discussed and nothing eventuates from the discussion, do you think that bringing it into the open might be a good way to engage a broader discussion about the issue ???

I was the other forum advisor online the day this happened, and as you are aware, ALL members are at all times invited to address any problems they have with moderation (including FAs), and we then discuss such disputes in the moderators forum. Generally we seek a concensus of opinion, and go with the majority. If we cannot decide, we then take the dispute further up the ladder to Sean who will generally make a call either way in his capacity as Webmaster/Administrator. You are of course quite at liberty to go directly to Sean yourself at any time.

Its not too late for you to contact me (or Sean) with regards to this matter, and in private I (we) will discuss it with you and will seek opinion in the moderators forum.

We have what you could call an unwritten policy, in that we prefer to keep these communications within the privacy of those involved, and this is why I personally don't enter into these sorts of discussions on the threads.....which can be very distracting to other forum members, and counter-productive in the long run for sorting out the problem.

So if you'd like to PM myself, another FA or Sean and outline your complaint, please know it will be posted in the moderators forum, considered seriously and given urgent attention by the moderators who are available.

This of course goes for ALL complaints members have with regard to moderators and Forum Advisors. Given that the moderators and the FAs here did not decide on the forum guidelines, yet have been tasked with the role of interpreting them to the best of our ability (for the great good of all forum users), I really don't know what more I can offer you at this time.

andrew wilson is king of the mountain/son of the godhead, they all had the same ip address. m3 was banned for spamming the joint with abusive posts the other night.

This thread has raised some good issues and has got me thinking.
Should people be banned permanently? Now I don't think so... before I did. A sliding scale as someone suggested sounds good to me... allowing people to cool off when they crack the shits or whatever.

It's no secret that I thought m3 should have been banned. Now I think a permanent ban wasn't quite right, maybe he did just crack the shits after too many drinks or whatever... one problem though was the deliberate lying. Should we let people continually lie? We know he was because people caught him out on different occasions and he admitted to it on more than one occasion. Maybe my ideals interefered with my decisions when dealing with him. I'm sure plenty of people on here bullshit, but he was someone who was doing it to stir up trouble. He also was personally abusive to people and had heaps of warning s about it. We're not fucking baby sitters. If people get drunk and be abusive or something then they can get stuffed IMO.

Forums are supposed to moderate themselves.
If m3 had personal problems there are a lot of people here he could have spoken to. It's not up to us to second guess every abusive poster. If my mates come over to my house drunk or in a rage and abuse me, and won't listen rationally, them I 'll tell them to fuck off. I'll see them again but not if their still a prick. btw - I wasn't here when he was banned so it wasn't me (just letting you know so people can't cry 'conflict of interest' after my run ins with him) ... I did see multiple "your all fuckwits, etc" posts throughout the forum and that is why he was banned.

I know some mods just thought he was a troll and others thought he was not but was just lonely or something.

I have been told by users that this place is a comfortable place for them to share their personal stories, etc. Maybe that is because we're kicking out the abusive users? Do we want a free for all, or do we want a place we're people can explore their feelling s and share them with others without being ridiculed?

I dunno, I wasn't at the other forum so I can't compare the two. If people want another one like that why doesn't somebody start one, start their own 'unofficial' david icke forum?

I have definetly been over zealous in the past. So it is good to bring up these questions. I've wanted to ban some people and other mods have told me to chill out. Mods fight all the time btw. We're not some cosy group who plot how to ban everyone. I have changed my views on a lot of stuff here in relation to being a moderator. I can see where I have let my ego make decisons. We're adjusting all the time, we aren't ban happy robots.

At the start this forum was under attack, you guys know that. So there may still be some mod apprehension from that. How can you have discussions and share info when people are deliberately fucking up threads?

I was just about to post a reply about happiness when the arguing started and thought: Typically! People can´t even talk about happiness without arguing!! So I didn´t post anything!!! Besides I really agree w Pollock about the f-word and what content it should be used in!!! I was from "The Forum" and I never did shy away from controversy, and that's why my thought's dwell on the possibility that there was some form of 'usercleansing' going on.

I think the point is.... the genral issue has been raised... so She has used this opertunity to explain to users that if they do get a telling off by a mod and they feel its was not justified that contacting her by PM is the thing to do and she will look into the situation and make sure a Mod has not made a mistake or somthing....

It is my opinion that nobody is banned for having an opinion. They may be suspended for becoming abusive whilst giving that opinion.

Those who are banned are trolls, those who continue abuse after being suspended on a number of ocassions, forum spanners who just post garbage to get a reaction, and those with multiple ids.

The issue was discussed on the moderator forum and yet there was no reply to any of the questions that I raised at the time of the infraction notice. Personally I would rather sort it out with an open discussion as has been done on this thread so that everyone can see that therre is nothing being hidden and they can make their own judgements about the situation.

Nobody gets banned here unless they have displayed repeatedly abusive behaviour towards others members or moderators. As you all know, swearing is not a big issue here unless its abusively aimed at another.This is a Lie, Else how do you justify, me being banned, for standing up for myself being accused of being a drunk parent, and then being malled in the "back room" of a PM!

We debate long and hard about those who are banned because it is not something any of us like to do. But some people just refuse to respond to friendly reminders, and the warnings we issue. Maybe because your consensus is utterly wrong about banning someone. Are you always correct?

We have a job to keep this place as user-friendly as possible for ALL members, and we wouldn't need to be here doing it if all forum members could modify their own behaviour while in the company of others. Our role is to decide what is acceptable or not acceptable within the forum guidelines, and there are times we make decisions based on information that has not been posted on the threads. Why does anybody have to "Modify their behaviour" while here? Isn't it a Right to express yourself? Just because a handful of people on this forum decides that what somebody says is inappropriate, doesn't mean that it is.!!! Regardless of your "so called Guidelines" as they are just that.

The only thing any of you have REALLY been asked to do here is be polite to and respectful of others. I have been only that to people that have treated me likewise, So how did I end up BANNED?

It is clear that from time to time there are some forum members who act abusively towards each other (some humans are irresponsible and that is the problem). I'm all for respecting others beliefs, but if they attack me in any way, and I am undefended, by the moderators, what am I to do? or anyone for that matter?

Hi Phoenix :) I'm very surprised this thread is still open.

My original username Trinity1 was banned a while back. Although I don't recall being given a specific reason, it was apparently because I was being "insubordinate" by way of asking difficult questions. I repeatedly had those posts/threads locked/edited which I was most disgruntled about.

I received some "infraction points" before my banning for various misdemeanors including posting a one word response. The one word response wasn't an insult or swear word... it was simply the answer to a question.
