Unvailed as a way of punishing those who cannot afford there rent will receive a Rent-Dodger Sign post on the side of there accommodation!
For everyone to see this may not even be legal iam unsure but the fact remains confidentiality the basic of everyones Human Rights may be slowly destroyed.

How will parents explain to there children what the Sign means ?

Property owners bump up the rent and its the familys that suffer buy to rent should be regulated somehow.

"There is no such thing as a free lunch"
Maybe if they taught this to there kids there kids wouldnt grow up to face the same problem

It is regulated by the market. If the rent is too high no one will live there, if someone is prepared to pay it they should be allowed to, not blocked by someone who wants to live there and not pay.

Crime and punishment.

Well thats a private landlord whos put that sign up, fuck him tbh just tear it down.

I also see it as a return of karma for landlords they saw an opportunity to profit from another human being and essentially make something from nothing the same way investors do and that is simply out of alignment with the universe in my opinion and so the return for them now is a whole lot of trouble with tenants not being able to pay rent and property prices collapsing a lesson well deserved.

Only to have missed a payment or too and are left to face total social embarrassment which may even lead to harassment.

Those who would most likely to be affected are the ones who genuinely can't pay and would be ashamed at being unable to pay anyway.

There will be the others who will see the sign as a status symbol much the same as those who revel in having asbos and tags.

Either way it's not really the right approach.

you seem to be under the impression i have this problem when i do not iam warning everyone of what is happening making people aware. and as for your comments about the children and there perants you must understand that the kids could face bullying and aggression shown toward them for reason that are unjustified the children have done nothing but be born into this world and cannot be judged by the parents actions.

You are almost right, if you can't afford the rent, move out. If the rent is too high, then no one will rent it and the person who overpaid for the house and can't cover the morgage gets it re possesed and looses all the money they put in so far.

That is the Karmic justice of free markets.

when I was made redundant I blew all my savings on our car as it was on 4yr finance and we wanted rid of that... it did skint us paying it off, but at least we own the car.... it was about this time I decided to become as self sufficient as possible. At the end of the day whatever UK laws are used, human rights laws do say you have a right to shelter. I can never understand why greedy banks don't rent these houses to the people in trouble if they have to repossess at least they're not forcing people into desperate measures then.
I mention this as I've just watched a women who had over £200,000 in Icesave and fears she is going to lose her house as she can only apply for up to £50,000 of it. Why don't people like this pay off their mortgage rather than keep loads stashed away...

all the bigwigs are hiding and giving our written statements for just before tomorrows markets... sounds dodgy to me, people want to know now.

Where to?

I have personal experience of a shite landlord who served notice on me cause my rent was 3 weeks late. The Reason: my newborn son was rushed into hospital for major heart surgery. He even had the cheek to say that I "should make the rent my priority".

But I suppose I would have deserved a "rent-dodger" plaque would I?

You dont pay for paediatric heart surgery here mate.

Oh of course, you're absolutely right.

I should have spent the nine hours of my babies surgery time getting up off my arse, travelling 60 miles back home and making sure my (childless) landlord had his money.

Forgive me, I thought there was something called "compassion" but it must have been a dream. :(

Maybe there was a que on the NHS and they went private.

The situation I am giving is of course hypothetical but the logic stands.

If it makes you feel any better, your landlord was a complete cum dribbler, but sadly they were "right."

I agree with the points made in the above posts. I remember back when I was younger I was claiming housing benefit and many times the claim would stall due to incompetent admin. Fortunately the housing association I rented from were used to these backlogs and so I didn't get in any trouble for it. Had I been renting from a private landlord and this stupid method of shaming tenants been implemented, I would NOT have been happy.

Why didn't you pay your own rent, at lest in the interim?

Would you have objected to a "Benefit claimant" sign?

Since other peoples taxes paid for your housing.

Why didn't you pay your own rent, at lest in the interim?

Because my rent exceeded my income.

Why didn't I move somewhere cheaper? THERE WASN'T ANYWHERE CHEAPER.

As I've spent the past decade (and more) paying self-employed tax, taxes on my businesses AND employed many others, I think I've MORE than paid my dues.

is that what actually believe?... you actually think if everyone on the country could meet their payments and worked with no benefits claimants you would pay LESS tax?... is that a dream all extremist right wingers have?
You talk a lot about 'other people' and 'they' but never actually for yourself,. I take it you own your house and car and it is all paid for?
once you have all you want in life why is it so bad to do for others and help with a little compassion to humanity..or is it because this stands in the way of greed?

Yep.

I have the outsanding debt of my morgage which I pay through my self employment.

My car is probably has less market value than I pay to keep her on the road, she has value to me though as she does what I need for work and pleasure whilst being cheaper than buying new.

Once you have what you want in life you should be free to volunteer what you want to others.

How can it be justified to be so anti government invasion of privacy and self determination EXCEPT where it benefits them.

well if your business starts slowing down and find it hard to hire, you might be glad of people like me who work for free just to help out a while with odd jobs. (you might even think you've already paid me for it with your taxes, either way doesn't matter) not all are successful this doesn't IMO mean they deserve to fail (this is if you live near York)

with you on this one tracker, the old blitz-spirit of community will provide counter posters - naming and shaming - on boards on flyers etc etc. ...

eg " this man just evicted a 90 year old woman for being £20 short on her rent"

eg2. " this landlord turfs the children of our community out onto the street"

or stronger language a la your post.

looks like as usual saving the banks first, then ....., then .... then the multiproperty owners .... the people at the bottom get shafted, top down disgrace.

communities [geographical and local ones] have to come together on this, and come together strongly before all those in the potential "oppression chain" get bought off. turn it around and send power back up the chain.

tell dem " not one member of our community will be branded or evicted due to the greed of bankers or the corruption of politicians. not a single one." ... thats a powerful social message, to bring people onside.

from this position bail out comes from the bottom up, through people, the ultimate asset.

on the surface - the headlines this looks promising and a sign of progress. a little deeper and it might be "anti-nwo-cover" -ish, like a "left-cover" towards a system response to siphon"ordinary" peeps away from truthseekers - "rational underground"[tm] etc: Chicago's Cook County won't evict in foreclosures By DON BABWIN – 1 day ago CHICAGO (AP) — The sheriff here said Wednesday that he's ordering his deputies to stop evicting people from foreclosed properties because many people his office has helped throw out on the street are renters who did nothing wrong. also the signs selling houses for banks, paint over them telling them the mortgages are now paid off by the government with the bail out and stop it going back to bank & market traders
