Just heard an interview on the BBC with someone called "Professor West" - a "recession psychologist".

Apparently all that is required to improve the confidence in the markets is something called LEADERSHIP.

The BBC commentator was interested in this new concept and wanted to know more.

The Professor went on to say that the apocalyptic imagery generated by the media was a big part of the downturn in the markets along with the fact that our leaders (with a small l) don't understand how to lead.

The presenter went on to say that a big part of the problem was the uncertainty that politicians had to deal with.

The professor quoted Winston Churchill as someone who managed to overcome adversity.

The report finished with the BBC switching to more doom and gloom about the markets.

More LEADERSHIP please, less anxiety generating MEDIA PORNOGRAPHY.

LOL, it was leaders who led us into this mess.

We need more taking repsonsibility for oneself.

Should I have handed over my heard earned cash to a pension fund that I didn't understand? Run by people I didn't know because they were "leaders" and I was a "follower", or Sheeple if you will.

I guess this would be ok if we all went back to living in caves.

Without leadership there wouldn't be all the services we depend on and the world would just be chaos. Human nature cannot be trusted to live in harmony without some form of leadership.

So we do need some form of leadership.

That'll never happen. You can't solve problems with the same level of consciousness that caused them

Dry, grey men with undererved academic qualifications will always give stock answers to extraordinary problems, like "more Leaders". The Crystal-Palace of scholarly redress is responsible for more damage to society and retardation of real knowlege than any other establishment. This Professor should be ignored.

If your government (you) has a good idea, offer it out to everyone else, those that agree you work with, those that don't you don't.

If your idea has a negative impact on others, they don't agree and you do it anyway, expect to recieve a negative impact in return.

I agree with what you are saying 1694 about the lack of responsibility and accountability amongst the people chosen to lead, and that people should learn to be more independent in their lives.

The way i see it is that this is all part of good leadership. Whether you are leading others, leading yourself, or whether you are being lead, you still need to have great leadership.

My view is that it isn't so much a problem for people to follow leaders. But that they are sick of being lead by people who are either not listening to what the people want - or are seemingly following a completely different agenda than they were ever voted in for.

So i think leadership is good to have, but the problem very much lies with the quality, consistency and trustworthiness of the people chosen to lead.
:)

Not as much money as you can make screwing the markets up obviously.

Great Leadership is the most scare resource we have today.
