Hello, I was banned from a website a couple of weeks ago and they told me I wouldn't be allowed to re-register:mad: Anyway, I went to the library and did it:p So what I want to know is; Even though I registered at the library and activated the account from there.....would they still be able to see that I was banned if I post from home:confused: Thanks

Most likely.
They're probably done an IPBan.

I am still able to post from home though, but I just wondered if they could still trace my IP even though the one I registered with was the librarys.

they'll be able to see, if they do an ip track, your username will show up with 2 ip addies, one will be the library, that will be cool, the other one will show your new and old username.

yes, your ip isn't only 'active' while you're still logged on, it's actually logged in the forum database, from the admin login when you see the memberlist, you can see the username, email and ip adress (at least thats how it is on the forum i'm admin on, and at the bottom of each post it gives the ip adress), and if the admin are on the ball, and they check ips regularly, they'll eventually see that your second username has the same ip as your first login.

LOl unless you use a proxy or does the proxy show up too? theres privacy services that can hide you're IP or does that not apply to all sites?

I can get on the site with that one but I can't access the forums:confused: However I can access a different forum I was banned from:cool: so thanks for that, not that I have a habit of being banned from forums of course, it was just a bit too fluffy and they didn't get my humour:D

If you don't have a static IP address (one that stays the same) you could just restart your modem/router/re-dial and your IP address will change. It will still be in the same IP range though, so if they IP range ban you then you will be banned reconnecting or not but then they risk losing other people besides you getting banned. :)
