View Full Version : How many Gamers!!

I'm starting to learn who's real, who's "fake", who's who, who's a 1user and who's a gates slut. And I'm still not sure about the apple freaks.
But I want to know;
Who here is a gamer?
you don't have to be a total "OMG! I M 1337 Gam3r 3xtr33333m!!" or some bullshit. But here loves playing video games?
I don't care if it's something that needs a 512MB graphics card or if you're into the 8-bits (:D). I'd like to know. And what you play?
I personally.
I love the 8 and 16 bit games. Golden Axe is one of my favorite 16bits. But on 8bit, it's Heavy Barrel and Contra for the win. Not sure if anybody knows Heavy Barrel. The game on the Famicom was nice, but the arcade version was fuckin'-A!
I have a Wii, but only the Wii Sports game for it. (Don't have the room in my place at the moment) But I've played abit of Red Steel and Zelda: Twilight Princess. I am a !!!!!MASTER!!!!! at Tony Hawk games. I'm not kidding. Play me and watch how badly I ruin your shit at any of the Tony Hawk games. :p
PC gaming though. I play a few fps here and there. Was up till 1am playing Black Hawk Down. Still made it to work by 7:30. Don't ask how. :p
But there are two games I am loyal to. Ever talk badly about them, and I introduce my shoe to your throat.
WarCraft 3 and Elderscrolls 3: Morrowind.
I'm excellent at WC3. But Morrowind. My gawd! I was like a crack addicted with that game. I missed 3 months of school because of that game once. I was that addicted to playing it. I'm over that addiction. Haven't even touched Oblivion yet. I'd probably cum in my pants from that game. So I'm waiting until I'm an old fart to play that.
I'm looking forward to playing the game Portals.
What about the rest of you?

morrowind elder scrolls is also pretty cool, i bought an old second hand pc and i got a box of discs with it, amongst it was elderscroll, so was pretty stoked.

Before I found this forum I was playing Ceasar 3 constantly. Now I have a mac and C3 is only available on pc and my pc is a 12" laptop. No matter how good the game is I'm not going back to squinting at a 12" screen ever again!

I mostly play World of Warcraft, but picked up Lord of the Rings Online this weekend. It's a beautiful game, and they did a nice job with it, but there's something about it that I cannot put my finger on that keeps me from getting immersed like I do with WoW.
I also like the WWII first person shooters. Call of Duty and Call of Duty 2 are fantastic games. As are the Medal of Honor games, though some show their age these days.
And Oblivion is a great game! Very addictive. :) The graphics are amazing (Lord of the Rings Online is just as beautiful) and the game play is lots of fun.

I love playing the old megadrive games from time to time, with the emulator Gens (http://gens.consolemul.com/)
I downloaded a torrent last year of the entire collection. around 5000 games! They're great to play when you have mates round.

I'm a huge games fan, this year I've played over 300 hours of OBLIVION
System Shock 2 is my all time favourite (hence the avatar), a must play for any gamer. I love a good shooter, but they are getting a bit 'samey', but I'm hoping thats all going to change with the release of Bioshock in August.

I believe games are and excellent form of escapeism that you interact with, as opposed to just letting TV wash over you.
But games do get in the way of everyday life, if your not careful.
Tonight I'm playing Half-Life 2 :)

The Tomb Raider games - Done them all.
Max Payne 1&2 completed.
GTA 3 , GTA Vice City , GTA San Andreas , Liberty City Stories and Vice City Stories - all done.
Done most of the Crash Bandicoot games as well.
Band of Brothers - both games completed.
I don't play any more though , most games are just pale imitations of previous classics now. My greatest moment was completing ' Brian Bloodaxe ' on the ZX Spectrum , also completing ' Frankie Goes to Hollywood ' on the ZX Spectrum in a mammoth 12 hour session ( there was no Save facility ! ).

Big into gaming. I follow the industry, did some time as a pro and would like to get into design work somewhere down the line. I play everything, but retain a special love for well crafted RPGs, story-driven adventures and completely unique and quirky independent games.

It's an online game called "There". Think msn messenger, but in a 3D world where you can meet up and build your own communities. Me and quite a few on this forum meet up there and discuss things in real time. It's well worth a look.

Yup, since the first nintendo, I also remember some of those really crappy pong like games you could get for the first personal computers, gosh they where high tech back then, I was awestruck!
Then it was the supermarios and sonics, then computer evolution drew me to tombraider and such.
My last fav games where oblivion elder scrolls and halflife2, but I dont feel I have enough time to sit for hours and play after my son arrived, so now I mostly play some racing games, need for speed is the game of the moment!

You young whippersnappers don't know how lucky you all are with all these new fangled games and whatnot !
When I was young all I had was a ball and a piece of string to play with at home !!
And I had to walk 3 Miles through knee high snow with a broken leg to get to school .
Back in the day if I wanted to enjoy a Video game I would proceed 4 miles through thigh high snow to a Video arcade where the music of the day would fill the air.I would listen to glorious foot tapping tunes from bands such as Adam and the Ants,Culture Club,Human League,Depeche Mode, Devo just to name a few.
The games I enjoyed most had names such as Donkey Kong, Pacman, Centipede, Scramble, Defender, Frogger,Phoenix, Pleaids, galaxian.Games with heart and soul.
Anyway that's it from me. Time for a nap.

anyone remember king's quest? that was the shit at one point, i grew up in a tiny town and once a year we'd go to the city to visit family and i'd get all the games i could and copy them for friends at home, i was the king for a while, then i discovered girls and that was the end of my gaming for about 5 years, when i finally got back into computers they had this new contraption called a 'mouse'.

distraction.
Who does it serve to have so many minds distracted in this way?

i love playing games, but i do agree lime, but it's like any media, it's not inherently bad or good, music, books, games, movies, tv, the internet, you name it, it has it's good and it's bad side, plus all work and no play...
but if it was to go away tomorrow, i'd probably not miss it.
i do wonder about kids though that never get out, never play outside, there's no balance, just playstation or computer games all day, topped off with generous amounts of tv, thats not good at all.

Kids of the last ten years are known as the Playstation generation. When I were a lad I hated being kept indoors.
