Last week I was looking out the window up at the moon and noticed in the position of the moon, the clouds surrounding it and me,it looked like the moon was the center point of some sort of atmospheric dome,I was able to see the curvature of the clouds from the moon, looked pretty feckin cool.

So I'm talking to my g/f on the phone about it and she asks me to take a picture, and I tell her the camera isn't good enough to pick up on detail I was seeing,so back and forth for a few seconds and finally I decided I would if nothing else to make her happy

I go out into the garden and hold the camera up at arms length and take about 3 shots, the 2nd 2 just had a dark sky with a moon in the far distance, but the picture below is the first shot I had taken and you can just about make the moon out lower down the picture.

It was taken on an average digital camera,I wasn't smoking, and it was dry night so it wasn't my breath neither.

I'm interested in what people think ???

Where's the moon for scale?

Sorry, meant to add that I have seen this phonominum (spelling :) ) of the clouds seeming to suround the moon too. We all do anyway, to a lesser effct, when there is a cloudy sky and the moon is shining through, seeming to be on this side of the cloud base. I think it is all to do with the fact that the moonshine shines on the clouds that are thin, and because they are thin, is able to shine right through, making it look like its this side. And the huge 'halo' or ring of clouds surrounding the moon as the clous float past is the same, only with lighter or rather whispier clouds.

Dunno what the photo is though untill I get a scale. Do you have the others?

Also, its not you, but these type of pictures get my goat.

When we look at the orb things, or indeed anything that has no scale content, we cant always tell how far or near they are to the camera. We could with a 3d image.

I was just browsing the web and have seen some good ideas. I will post them on the orbs threads.

Thanks Tom for pointing out the scale issue,I have circled the moon in the picture below,if you can make it out

As I said in my earlier post that it was at arms length, above my head,so this looks pretty close to the lens, unfortunately the other 2 pictures were just dark shots with the moon in the distance so I didn't keep them.

Thanks again Tom for the taking the time to reply ;)

It is similar to what you sometimes see in so called "haunted" houses.
A flowing mist, Interesting.

have you ever come across sylphs?,might be an explanation, difficult to tell as it was hard for you to get a really good picture.
