I recently found this website with a pile of disinformation about a lot of occult symbols, and given that someone might mistakenly take this information to be accurate, I thought I should clear some things up in the interest of the truth.
First point is the Egyptian cross, the Ankh. The Ankh doen't mean lust, as this website claims, but represents life. It's actually a heiroglyph meaning life. It doesn't get any simpler than that.
The peace sign, although I have no proof of this, I've long speculated to be related to the Futhark rune Algiz, which means protection. When turned upside down, it resembles the "broken cross" which is inside the peace sign. As anyone who works with runes can confirm, when you turn a rune upside down, it reverses it's meaning. Thus, you reverse protection, and you get vulnerability. An interesting idea, since most people leave themselves vulnerable when they are at peace.
The symbol of the SS. Unfortunately, also incorrect on this website. The nazis, being all about their germanic heritage, took the SS symbol from germanic runes. The Sol rune, also known as Sowilo looks like a lightning bolt, but represents the sun. They took two of these, put them side by side, and made it their symbol.
