does anyone know of a good, very simple firewall that installs easy?
I am looking for something that can control outbound traffic easily.

I want to be able to see what application is making what connection and be able to stop it
from connecting to some internet server without my knowledge.
in other words – I need to be able to selectively give a yes or no for each app that requests
outbound connection.

if there is a firewall that does not require install, that would be even better.

just imagine you have a cracked application and you need to know if app
"phones home" but you cannot really install it because it runs on a server with teamed NICs.

I've heard that Zone Alarm is a good one. I use an external router myself, which has it's own built in protection. I'd recommend getting one.

I use the Filseclab firewall which is free. It's powerful and easy to use although it does need installing.

Zone Alarm apparantly reports your activities to Mosad.

ZoneAlarm will let you do that. They have a free personal version and a Pro version that costs something. I use the free one.

I've been using ZoneAlarm (free version) for over a year and it's done a good job so far.

Mosad can kiss my ring!. :D
