The number 1 and 11

Have you noticed on some days that certain numbers will really stick out? And if so, why is that? Today, I have really noticed the number 11 today, and in a really big way. Let me give you a small example of what I'm talking about. I went to the store and purchased several money orders, the change I got back was $1.11. Later I went to the post office because my husband wanted to pay one other bill, and to mail the other money orders. On the wall was a digital wall clock that had both the time, the month, and day. On the clock it said 11:11 May 11. There were some other things I saw today that had 11 on it, but I'll only mention the first two to give you an idea of what I'm talking about.

This is not the first time I have noticed things like this, but today it seems like this number is really popping out alot.

The number 1 occurs more often in numbers than 2-9, and 0 since it is the first number. For example, 10, 11, 12, 13... and 100, 101, 102 and so on.
