What is the point of ethical Vegetarianism?

Really. Vegetarians annoy me especially when they say its for ethical reasons, if you don't like the taste of meat thats fair enough, I can accept that.

So you don't like the treatment of animals in meat packing factory farms, the torture and mistreatment of animals? Then why do you still drink that milk and eat that cheese Mr?

Ethical Vegetarians are ridiculous. Eat animals or don't - there is no in-between. If you are an ethical vegetarian then you are a hypocrite.

Discuss.

Let me reply firstly by saying Im not a vegetarian
But I can see that me as myself -(if you believe in the reps) do not like to be 'eaten' (for my 'negative' energy or whateve) so why should other beings be subjected to such things as well?

Doesnt make sense tho, if it was a choice between starvation and killing an animal for its meat - id choose the latter? What else are you supposed to do?
Such is the nature of this Ouroboros based reality :(

I think it's virtually impossible to not eat animals. Even things like candy and medicine often contain products from animals, such as gelatin: A colorless or slightly yellow, transparent, brittle protein formed by boiling the specially prepared skin, bones, and connective tissue of animals and used in foods, drugs, and photographic film.

Shoes and wallets are often made of animals, etc.

I used to be one for a brief time 'cause I thought it was cruel for one to end a life so one could eat it, so to speak. I still feel that way, but I'm no longer a veggie. I lost too much weight (almost to the state of malnutrition for some reason) and eating chicken seems to take care of that. But I also don't like the smell or taste of meat (as in beef/lamb etc.) so the occasional chicken and maybe fish is the only thing I'll have.

Until I figure out how to put on weight without eating fellow animals...

That is exactly what I mean by Ouroboros reality! Its almost as if we were created to kill and eat - I think it is cruel as well, but what can you do? If you didnt kill the chickens the foxes would!

Meat is essential because of its high protein content and other nutritional values such as iron - that is why many veggies can become anaemic and also be physically very weak - im not saying you cant be strong without meat, but meat is sooo much more nutritions for this then plants.

Some attitudes from meat eaters like yourself avatar really get on my wick.
I've been vegan now I'm veggie.

We can choose to eat free range eggs. You can't stop a chicken from laying eggs.
If a cow wasn't milked it would become bloated and die okay! So we're doing the animal a favour by eating cheese.
So we don't wait until the animal is killed to eat eggs or drink milk. what's hypocritical about that?

Alot of medicines are now veggie friendly there's other substances they use.
Takes knowledge and practice to know what's in certain foods, reading the ingredients on the packaging before buying them. They put a V which says suitable for veggies or vegan on a lot of stuff too.

You can choose not to buy leather products also. Only way around not using photos is to used a digital camera, then upload them onto a computer, then uses an advanced printer if you want photies.

There was a documentary in the UK,many moons ago about trees and plants
and do they feel pain.
I think it was done a little tongue in cheek, but they recorded the sounds of plants and trees being damaged by being pulled out the ground violently or by breaking a branch on a tree.
Thought it was a little disturbing at the time.
...the sound they recorded sounded like an high pitched squeal.

AVATAR....You're a vegan haha. I said I used to be..... Never been big but I lost some weight being vegan, but the strange thing is I've not put on any weight since becoming veggie again which is about 2 years now.

Guess some peoples metabolism is different. So if you're a vegan give me some tips. How can you get enough vitamin D and B12 and what ever else is needed.???

Plants feel pain too, so we shouldn't eat them either?

Modern processing, chemicals in the food and animal rearing tech aside Animals are soul beings plants are not. Animals have blood, plants do not. The blood of an animal carries its etheric properties which when consumed by you or me effect and influence the etheric properties of our own blood. Lowering our frequency, in New Age terminology.

Chlorophyll is very, very similar in chemical composition to our own blood. Consuming chlorophyll boosts the "frequency" of our blood.

It boils down to this :

Eat death or eat life (or both)

I wish Idealogue was here...

It's good that products are labeled in that way. I often check what the products contain, especially food and drinks. I still buy products with animal ingredients, but I want to know what the ingredients are, and often when choosing between similar products I choose those without animal ingredients.

Vitamin D is the easiest one for anybody to collect and store regardless of diet. The best source is UV light. Get some sun, get a tan lots of Vit D there are the body stores it all year round. This is why your nails grow faster if you spend alot of time in the sun.

B12 is a tricky one if you believe what is said about it. It does exist outside the animal foods but only in things like TOP quality Kombucha, not all kombucha. A friend of mine did much research in regards to diets etc, and he believes that B12 is a con. Its the only thing they say we need that we cannot get from a Vegan diet. It doesn't make much sense when you think about it. I decided to just not bother with B12 and forget about it. So far so good. If you are concerned about B12 then find some local chickens owned by someone you know and trust and consume their egg yolks.

I believe alot of the things they say we need meat for are produced by our own body and that this knowledge is surppressed. Sunlight and water can trigger many reactions in the body alone. Why do we need protein from meat when your body will begin to produce its own after a while. Again sunlight is important for this process.

The body is quite amazing and adaptive.

I have no "beef" with you or your view at all sir.

I have "beef" with veggies who are doing it to save the animals but still use dairy products. It just makes no sense to me.

If food tastes and preferences are your reason then thats OK with me.. at least you are not pretending to be something you are not.

I'm not a vegan nazi btw ;)

It just seems a little pointless arguing about being a vegan or meat eater when two-thirds of the world hasnt enough to eat.
Im sure some starving child wouldnt give a toss what he/she was eating as long as it kept its body n soul together.

What is the purpose of eating ???

By your understanding of this question do you choose what you eat.

Is it only humans that choose what they eat?
we know lions are meat eaters, giraffes are herbivores.
Could they change their eating habits,if they had to?
course they could,it must have happened to all animals
over the millions of years.
Adapt or die.
You eat to survive,self-preservation.that is the one n only purpose.
Of course we humans have taken that a few steps further.
comfort eating.etc.

I've been in two minds lately ....I don't know which way to go vegan or back to eating meat because I'm so thin, maybe meat would put some meat on me. I do weight training and need lot's of protein and have no car so have to walk everywhere etc. you wouldn't believe how much i can eat enough for two people easy and stay the same weight, I just seem to burn it all off.

Theres been a tin of pork luncheon meat hanging out in my kitchen for months, my friend gave it to me for my dog, he uses luncheon meat when he goes fishing as bait to catch carp.

I almost opened it just was thinking of going halves with the dog, then I read the lablel it contains(sodium nitrate an alleged preservative but some experts say it's poison if you have to much even small amounts can be bad)

I don't fancy eating meat bit like an ex alcoholic feels about drinking and imagine it may give me indegestion problems etc.

I am the same. Can eat and drink shitloads without putting on an ounce of weight.

Your comment about being too thin brings me to an important point regarding Veganism... regardless of how ideal of a diet it may be in terms of health and morals it is definitely not for everyone.

Generational traits and genetics it some people make it very hard for them to be Vegan.. if your recent ancestors, lets say the last 20 generations of your family for example, have all been heavy meat eaters this has had an effect on the genetics of your intestinal make up and the ability of your body to process plant proteins effectively for example. So your body cannot cope with being vegan and gets ill and thin unable to process the food properly.

However this change over in diet can also effect your weight via a power struggle between parasites which can last an entire lifetime unless treated.

Eternal_spirit it may be worth doing a simple parasite course with tinctures of

Wormwood 5ml 1x day
Olive Leaf 5ml 1x day
Cloves 5ml 1x day
Green BlackWalnut Hull 10ml 1x WEEK

Blackstrap Mollasses is also a super food for anyone concerned about not getting enough. Try giving your old momma or grandma a tablespoon or two of this stuff a day and 6 months later you will see a BIG difference, more vitality, etc..

But I digress...
