Magnetic Energy

I'd like to hear your thoughts on this, I believe David has covered it a few times. I've always felt that people have this certain energy that attracts them to other people and events. It's the reason you walked down that one block and had a chance encounter with an old friend. However, it could easily be seen as simply the way things work out and that things are bound to happen, with or without the "energy". For me, I'd like to believe in this magnetic energy, it explains so much.

There are two kinds of magnetic attractions. One is ego-based. The other is holistic attraction.

Using ego-based attraction you can attract good things or bad things. With holistic attraction you can only attract good things.

This is how it works: with ego-based attraction there is always more or less conflict between the ego and the rest of the world. Holistic attraction on the other hand is never in conflict with anything. That's why it is called holistic.

Self-sacrifice and service to others is the opposite of ego-based attraction, but that is NOT the same thing as holistic attraction. Only when both the ego and others are included can there be holistic attraction.

One idea - I don't know if it works - is to use both ego-based attraction and holistic attraction at the same time; to use holistic attraction for basic needs such as money, and ego-based attraction for more interesting things.

Some people find attracting money interesting, but often that can be merely hidden fear of survival. Letting go of that fear, if possible, should result in a tremendous relief.
