I know there are some other Goa/Psy music listeners on this board!

To those that do lets talk about Shpongle!!

To those that don't know, what the fuck are you waiting for? Eat some mushrooms and get Shpongled!!!

Where is Shpongleland? A multi-verse not very far away where
queues and noise don't exist neither pain nor fear, scary faces
or bad smells just peace and pieces, and perfect weather :)
Sucking the big toe of humanity, your armchair turns into an aural spacecraft, catapulting you through the veils of reality and consciousness into a psychedelic adult theme park: Sonar Ballistickle, Soma sucking cyber sorcerers floating weightlessly on the threshold of bliss, creating psycho-geometric, atomic telepathic shimmering incandescent dream dilations.
This hybrid exotic seretonin drenched electro-plasmic dripping brain forest moves with endless hallucinogenic changing patterns while, unnoticed a million angels dance on a pinhead.
Fun-Shui, Phrenological escapology; the divine moment of truth, the inevitability of the unexpected - the vortex of the cortex. Knowing what we don't know, while sampling the cosmos; from the darkness to the light; from the unreal to the real. from death to immortality...

they're ok,
i prefer simpler music now tho..
they're bit too hectic

or no music at all, that's nice too :)

I used to love shpongle & goa several years ago. It was like a soundtrack for life.

Now i never listen to it at all. Dont think i could get into it if i wanted...

How come? Did you just grow tired of the genre?

me personally shpongle & goa sounds too forced/too unnatural.

i could enjoy like one song,
but then get bored of it...

calmer natural music or preferably silence even, digests much better.

i guess so.. It seems a bit sterile & empty now - all top-end & 4/4, whereas now I crave basslines & breaks. I can remember someone saying that on a forum years ago when i was a trance-head & i thinking they were missing the point completely cos its all about alpha waves. or something.

I think my set & setting changed a lot around the time i went off it too, moving to a new area, using smaller speakers & taking less drugs - i sometimes wonder whether that caused some sort of neurological shift back to normality, iyswim - rendering me less appreciative of the trance-state. Im also not associated with the free-party scene anymore, so i guess that plays a big part as theres can be a lot of association involved in music appreciation.

Another thing, when i was listening to goa-trance which has faux-asian influences i was in a heavily asian populated area, then shortly after moving to a more african populated area, i slowly got into hip-hop. Ive idly speculated whether, despite keeping pretty much to myself im picking up some sort of psychic influence from the mere prescence of my neighbours. Or maybe not, just thought id mention it :)

Yeah i know what you mean, if i exclusively listened to this kinda music it would get old...

I became infected with psy when i saw the master in action -Simon Posford- at a live Hallucinogen/Shpongle show in August last year (at Eureka Springs). It was also the first time i dosed LSD (after already taking mushrooms twice in the previous two months), peaking to Shpongle's set was something i will never ever forget, it was the most holy, spiritual, unbelievable experiance i've ever taken part of. And it wasn't exclusively chemical-induced either ;)

I think psytrance is at the very cutting edge of music and is the most 'evolved' music so far, if that makes any sense.

Anybody interested check out this essay on it:

Hmm that's really interesting, thanks for sharing! Your surroundings could totally affect what music you tune in to. I've only been listening to this stuff for almost 2 years, and have been to a handful of psy-parties, so i'll keep going with it for awhile i suppose..

I first discovered shpongle when I got into dmt fittingly. Listened to a lot of them when I first got into smoking it. They seemed to make everything calmer when Id come back. Went through a big faze of listening to them, but im back to my old ways of drum and bass techno and rock, like a lot of housey stuff at the moment. Will listen to them on occasion, they are amazing!

I liked the stuff Posford was putting out as Shpongle up to and including the first album, but when he started putting all the girly voices on it, I was put off in a big way.

I dissagree man, the female vocals on Dorset Perception, Once Upon The Sea Of Blissful Awareness, and Invocation are some of my favorite tracks. It added another dimension to their sound.

The first album is my favorite too though.

Shpongle ftw!
Are you Shpongled? is (without a doubt) still their finest album.
Can't wait for the releaseparty of Ineffable Mysteries from Shpongleland.
I hope there will be more of the Are you Shpongled?-sound on the new album.

Eureka Springs?!!! Is there a fellow Arkansan on this board??

I currently like a guy who likes the crap out of Sphongle. It's not my cup of tea however.

I listen to Sphongle occassionally, but I prefer Hallucinogen when I'm in that kind of mood. The last couple years tho I have gravitated towards trip hop.

I used to chat with 'Get Shpongled' on the Deoxy.org chat, it was one of the members of Shpongle, a wise and psychedelically enlightened chap. ;) He may still frequent the chat if you want to talk to him, although they're probably too famous to talk to commoners now lol.
