I drove down to Manchester on Monday to see Roger Waters at the Manchester Arena. I wasn't all that excited about it (I love Floyd, but I thought 'Perfect Sense' was going to be the highlight of the evening. How wrong I was!!)

Here's Roger talking about the wall Israel have built around Palestine (expect the usual nauseous presentation from ITV. My retort to the reporter/this coverage comes after, bathed in tears)

now, a song for the ITV presenter - Roger Waters - Mother:

Hey Auron,

Manchester is most defitely a shithole. I worked there for a couple of years, on and off, opposite 'Strangeways'

but what can I say? - ('and the Germans killed the Jews, and the Jews killed the Arabs, and the Arabs killed the hostages, and that is the news' :-

Perfect Sense - YouTube

it touched me deeply

Hi King and I am all I am, great links cheers.

I saw Floyd at Earls Court in the 90's and I love Gilmour too.

I didn't have very high expectations of Waters (I was keeping a promise to go and see him with a friend) but it blew my mind, better than Floyd at Earls Court!. He did the whole of Darkside and loads of other Floyd greats, including 'Sheep'. The whole gig had a massive ant-war / bush thing going on, and a very moving speech about some arabs that took him in when he was hitch-hiking. Thoroughly recommended.

cheers,

shodan

hey shodan

that is great!!
i love aware people who use their position of fame to speak the truth from their hearts, to thousands of ears, like human beings should.

they automatically gain enormous respect in my mind, simply for being human
and speaking the truth, not some rehearsed shit that someone else wrote for the mases.
people do not even realize how much influence and power musicians have.
because we all listen to those that we like more openly than those that we dislike.
imagine all those fans, when their hear from their favored musicians, how open they become to what they are hearing.

so, kudos to Waters!
and F$%^ those boneheads like Bono.

Hi guys

OMFG!!!! Just got back from the gig at Earls Court.... WOW what can I say... it was just the most amazing gig!!!:D  On par, if not better than when I saw them at Earls Court in the 90s!!! Lots of anti-war stuff going on, which was really touching & sent shivers down my spine, loads of Floyd classics in the first half (which were a real bonus) & followed by Dark Side!!! Brilliant light show... flying spaceman, infamous pig & pyramid - great stuff!!

I got a few pics & will post them tomorrow (as I'm a wee bit tired right now!).

Hey shodan, did you notice the green illuminati pyramid & all seeing eye on Money?

Totally amazing time - WOW!!!:D

Gilmour accepted knighthood a few years back, and I don't know when Roger was knighted(I feel like it was recent but my memory is lacking).

I saw Roger's show back in Semptember the two nights he was in Massachusetts, and it was an incredible 2 days. I loved Leaving Beiruit, but I was disgusted and slightly embarrassed by a whole section of the crowd cheering USA USA USA during that song. They totally missed the point and were blinded by their idiotic patriotism.

Roger, being the showman he is, closed with Bring the Boys Back Home. Everyone was singing along; it was a very moving show.

I also saw Gilmour last year in NYC; it was also an amazing show with the highlight being Echoes played in full. David's show was very intimate yet musical, but Roger's show had the power and message that made it that much better. That's pretty much the reason Pink Floyd was so good though.

It's cool to see this topic on here as I am a huge Floyd fan, and I have also wondered about the two of them accepting knighthood. A bit of info here: In the DVD Live at Pompeii, they mention they're all sons of British arisotracies with the exception of David Gilmour. They could just be joking, and/or it could mean nothing at all.

The songs that we sing at their concerts have lyrics dealing with death and insanity. I've thought maybe that generates a lot of energy for those symbols. I don't believe they are really on the dark side though; the overall messages of these songs are good.

My favorite line of theirs
"Strangers passing in the street
by chance two seperate glances meet
and I am you and what I see is me"

Hey Lookfar, I'm glad you had a great time, the ant-war stuff was brilliant. I didn't notice the pyramid and eye, excellent that it was there :) .

I did notice that on the flying pigs arse was written 'What an asshole Dick Cheney is' :D

About the knighthood thing, I really do hope it was naievity on Gilmours and Waters part..... and Bono, what a nightmare, I hope he's just being thick, but I don't know, something not quite right.

peace
