Moore blames women for bad TV
Eccentric astronomer Sir Patrick Moore has claimed that TV is worse today because the BBC is run by women.

The presenter of The Sky At Night also belittled female newsreaders in an interview with Radio Times, describing them as "these jokey women".

Sir Patrick, 84, criticised the BBC for showing interesting programmes very late at night, especially the 650th edition of The Sky At Night, which was put out at 2am.

"The trouble is that the BBC now is run by women and it shows: soap operas, cooking, quizzes, kitchen-sink plays. You wouldn't have had that in the golden days," he said.

"I would like to see two independent wavelengths - one controlled by women, and one for us, controlled by men. I think it may eventually happen."

The TV veteran also said he would "rather be dead in a ditch" than appear on Celebrity Big Brother and he compared the soap opera EastEnders to diarrhoea.

When asked about his television "guilty pleasure", he said: "I used to watch Doctor Who and Star Trek, but they went PC - making women commanders, that kind of thing. I stopped watching."

Sir Patrick has presented The Sky At Night since April 1957, making him the longest-serving television presenter.

The xylophone-playing cricket enthusiast was knighted and appointed as a member of the Royal Society in 2001.

His interview in the next edition of Radio Times is part of the magazine's Great British TV survey, which asks TV celebrities for their thoughts on the current state of British television.

I wonder if he's gay, anti female?

I find it funny what he says about Big Brother and Eastenders. :D

Soap Operas are so unlike real life in so many ways. They go from relationship to realtionship every other week, if this was real, no one would want to go out with them after they'd slept with the whole Village or Town.

If you watch to many soaps you may find yourself acting and speaking some of the lines from these programs. Maybe that's it... it's about programming the people who watch them.

His comments would seem to be more propaganda to drive a divison between the sexes. Man TV stations, more gays would watch that. But I'd probably find myself watching the Woman TV station if I watched TV.

As you mentioned the soaps i've recently noticed how much the consumtion of alcohol plays a big part. Not only in the fact that a lot of the scenes are centered in and around a pub but their crackin open bottles and cans left right an centre at home too.And when it flicks to someone who's not down the pub they're often sat at home looking miserable.

He would, I think, be somebody worth spending time with.

Moore discussing Edmond Halley, 2nd Astronomer Royal
..It is also reliably recorded that when the Czar of Russia came to England to learn about ship-building, he became very friendly with Halley at Greenwich, after a far from teetotal evening, the czar climbed into a wheelbarrow and Halley pushed him into a hedge. Significantly, the Observatory files do contain a receipt for repairs to a damaged wheelbarrow.

Yes, I think I would have liked Halley. I am sorry that he died over a hundred and eighty years before I was born. Typically his last act on Earth was to call for a glass of wine - and drink it!

Patrick Moore wrote some brilliant sci-fi novels which I read when I was a kid , I loved them !

I think hes maybe a bit harsh , saying that the poor state of TV is all women's fault , but British TV has really gone downhill and if he believes thats the reason then at least he is being honest. However a lot of women don't watch much TV because , like Patrick , they feel its gone downhill !

The new Dr Who promotes homosexuality , bisexuality and lesbianism a lot so maybe its a bit much for an old guy like Patrick Moore.

I doubt it.

I think his attitude might come from a terrible tragedy that occured in his youth. He was deeply in love and engaged to be married to a young female paramedic. But she was killed suddnely when her ambulance was blown up by an unexploded bomb (this was during the Blitz in 1943). If rumours are accurate, since that day he's never been laid once! His rejection of women could come from a desperate urge to bury the grief he still feels. It may be a long time ago, but some people never recover from a tragedy like this.

He's dead against the Apollo hoax guys. Whenever they make a debunker they interview him.

What's the pivotal evidence most quoted by the debunkers?

Basically that all the photogrpahic anomalies can be explained away as tricks of the light etc. But what they do is take the photoes where this could explain it and ignore those which can't. And they laugh at the idea that NASA could fake it if they wanted to. What, tell 18 men who've sworn allegience to the US govt not to lie? With the exception of Armstrong, all of them were military officers and nobody else has ever "been there".

NASA also has less than a total record of truthfulness, in fact many a pundit reckons their acronym should stand for Never A Straight Answer. They whitewashed the Nazi record of Wenher von Braun and others and made them into household names. Do you know what von Braun's job was before he joined NASA? building V1 and V2 rockets to slaughter the innocent people of London during the Blitz!

But all we hear is: "Yeah, but when thet sent people to the moon they stopped lying." Bollocks!

Haggers thats complete rubbish like all the allegations you make against NASA.

Armstrong was in the Navy (LTJG), Harrison Schmitt was never in the military.

It never ceases to amaze me how you always think you know things most people dont know when in fact you know very little.

You continually accuse people at NASA of being liars murders and embezzlers but cant back any of it up with proof.

I surpose its easier to believe Apollo was faked when you know nothing about it.

What photographs get ignored because they cant be explained. Catalog numbers please not one of those doctored pics from Aulis.

Haggers will tell you if hes truthful the Hoax guys cannot be trusted. They have been caught doctoring photos and telling lies to bolster their claims time and again. Its ironic really how haggers goes on about NASA being liars when in reality its the hoaxers that keep getting caught.

Don't mention Bart Sibrels secret NASA film lol.

How come you class proving you wrong as being abusive?

I don't. I class calling me names and saying nasty things about my character and personal life as abusive. Because I won't descend to your level and hit back, you justify it by exaggerating an innocuous comment I made. This is just an excuse. You simply dislike conspioracy theorists and like giving us a hard time.

You did the same thing today on DC about David Icke. You pour scorn on his Peru experience because he got another woman "up the duff". You sound just like the sleazy "news" reporters who wrote ignorant and judgemental things about it in the so-called "news"papers at the time. You make no attempt to try and walk in David's moccassins at all. It didn't even happen in Peru; it happened in Canada.

I should warn you that this forum is far more carefully monderated than DC. You won't be able to get away with the same shit here that you do there.

Thing is haggers unlike DC you wont get banned for not agreeing with you. You cant rely on a mod bailing you out when someone exposes your disinformation and foolishness. I'm sure i wont get banned when i expose the total rubbish you post.

When all said and done been banned made little difference on DC anyway.

Now why do you keep making up disinformation about Apollo then feeding it to people whats your agenda. Aulis, Rene, sibrel and co make money from their fabrications what motivates you?

Did you really believe what you posted about Armstrong and the others, did you just take it as fact when some Conspiracy theorist told you or did you make it up to try and impress people?

As for David Icke i have no intention of being anything like him and if you ask me dressing up like him and wearing a wig to emulate his hair style is taking your hero worship a bit too far.

Now off you go running to a moderator to see if you can get me banned. After all you wouldn't want answer any questions would you?

So much for the ignore list :D

Hate to sound sexist

but i probably agree with what Patrick Moore said

I've worked for companies run by men and women and the ones run by Women lack something that makes them edgy and competitive

I have mostly worked for Technical companies - so this may be a 'man and technology" thing that I have witnessed

Women in my opinion make much better organisers than men - I believe that they can multitask in a way us men never could

In the tests done to select fighter pilots, women nearly always come out on top - however men are able to continue to concentrate and remain focused under extreme stress and make the best fighter pilots.

apologies if this has offended anybody - i'm certainly not sexist

Both men and women have inhearent strenths and weaknesses, in equal numbers and with many exceptions on both sides.

I still say that Patrick Moore sounds like he's covering up his grief. As I say above, he suffered a heart-breaking bereavement. It was long ago when he was a young man, but some people never get over it.
