Windows Live Messenger error code 81000314
Problem description
When you start Windows Live Messenger you cannot sign in, and you get error code 81000314 along with the message:
Signing in to Windows Live Messenger failed because the service is temporarily unavailable. Please try again later.
Error code: 81000314
the error continues to appear it is most likely because the Windows digital signatures system is damaged or corrupt. To resolve this you will have to register several dll files that are required for Messenger. You can do this automatically by running a batch file we created or if you prefer by executing the commands yourself.
Automatic solution
First you will have to download this zip file which includes a batch file that can register the dll files for you. After downloading unzip it and run register-messenger-dll-files.bat, a black screen will pop up and update you on the process. When done your Messenger should work again!
Manual solution
First open a run window by clicking start, then run. Now, type the following command and press enter:
regsvr32 softpub.dll Wintrust.dll Initpki.dll Rsaenh.dll Mssip32.dll Cryptdlg.dll
If you use Windows XP you should open another run window after running the previous commands then type the following command:
regsvr32 Dssenh.dll Gpkcsp.dll Slbcsp.dll Sccbase.dll

FIXED NOW STRANGE IT IS AFFECTING MANY:)

hey! I get that! Its only been recent though, I thought it was something to do with me upgrading my MSN
Gets a bit embarrasing as I try to appear offline, sign out and the bloody thing opens up, gives my game away :D

That coud be it I have two versions of msn on my PC. The windows messenger and the upgrade from about 6 months maybe a bit longer called windows live messenger.
Not got round to deleting the old one I'm paranoid it may mess up the new version (what a decision )I know if I have a power cut or have to restart my PC and I haven't signed out of msn (forgot to) when PC restarts I get that message said I was signed in on another computer (I wasn't)
But I'm signed in on the older version "windows messenger." And also appearing on line :o
So, have to sing out and close that one and start up the newer msn!
Besides gets a bit claustrophobic on there at times.
BTW can't sing in

delete windows messenger, live is the newest and the one built in is prone to spam messages.

Hi ES, I upgraded from windows MSN to windows live MSN about a year ago but recently I upgraded it again. It has other benefits that the other live MSN had like 'history', a way to save conversations
You probably got the new one too, my upgrade was about 2 months ago

Perhaps it depends on which version you`re using. I use a portable version of Windows Lite (won`t try it till tonight though) and it works all the time.
