any thoughts?

i say lock her up. lose the key, and pay someone to shank her in the eye.

it may sound harsh, but i hope she goes the way of anna nicole. good riddens.

I agree with the sentiments regarding Paris Hilton. To me too she epitomises some of the more negative aspects of Western civilisation - egoism, materialism and hedonism. However, Shansuke does have a very good point saying that maybe we ought to be projecting peace and love in her direction.
Maybe the whole incident will act as a wake up call to Paris Hilton. She may change for the better, which in turn could influence other people that generally admire the girl. Unlikely I imagine, but certainly a possibility that I will be hoping for.

why bring miss hilton to these forums ?

Imo this forum leans a bit towards popular culture - as i feel the reptilian thing is more or less becomming. Subculture anyways.
I see tonnes and tonnes of replies in topics of no interest whatsoever and then some very good topics noone bother to read or reply to.

just wondering.

I don't follow the celebrity culture (what a waste of time and energy!) but I do think she's been treated more leniently than if she was a non celebrity.

well umbrex, people are free to post and respond to anything they like on this forum, granted some of the good stuff is never responded to and some rubbish gets pages and pages, but thats the way it goes i'm afraid.

Goal didn't hurt me any, and it will teach her a valuable lesson in life. Money can't buy everything http://www.lifeshore.com/smiley/data/media/2/3D_emoticon_40.gif at least now she knows!! Who did she think she was, jumping in to the drivers seat with her profile?? just asking to be arrested in my opinion, and plain arrogant to boot!!

this is my point, she thinks she's above the law, maybe this will bring her down to size a bit, as someone said, maybe something good will come out of it.

She might be off to jail for a short stint but i bet it wont be the same treatment as the rest of us would get- i expect she'll have her own room with en-suite and luxuries etc....sure to her it'll be like another episode of the 'Simple Life', poor little rich girl has to do time, it'd be like luxury to you or i!!

She wont learn, it wont deter her- she'll probably just build herself a private road to drive on or something, to people with that amount of money (she's been brought up that way), the law is beneath them and money does buy everything. Look at what the rich do when they get caught out- buy their way out of everything with an expensive lawyer, unless it suits the agenda to make an example of you or you are no longer required and have done your bit! just my two cents worth on this waste of space excuse for a human being!

Sad thing is that there are people committing far more serious crimes that get off with no time at all. I think she's like every other spoiled kid her age, except she's got more money.

This is just another distraction...

Paris Hiltons infamy is purely out of the result of how the public responds to her both negative and positive. She works for a quite a few entertainment corporations because they all want a piece of her. They know how to exploit her in a manner that the public will respond.

Now that shes going to jail, the media are having a field day.

When i think of Paris's popularity and her personality i dont think about her stupidity - i only think of the stupidity of the public.

i was drunk when i started this thread last night. i didnt mean it quite as harsh as it sounds.

It just gets to me that the media deals with her predicament as if it is life altering news for the whole country. its considered "BREAKING NEWS!!" its not going to be too long before they are interupting regularly scheduled programming to keep us updated on her latest pimple.

Just another blonde mind controlled sex slave as far as I'm concerned. They are out of control until they are brought back into line by their masters.

We like to see the rich brought down a peg or two don't we though ? Its called ' schadenfreude '. The lives of the rich and famous are like a real-life soap opera , so no wonder people are interested and no wonder the press cover it all. It sells newspapers and magazines.

Is it a distraction - yes , it sure is. But also a sticking plaster for your internal despair at the unfairness and cruelty of the system. When you are ready to move on , a teacher will find you.

thanks for that mirror mrguitarbear, it's funny how something should make sense, but you need the right moment and place for you to realise it.

Paris, Britney, Anna Nicole, Hasselhoff, etc, etc., are all part of the "dog & pony show" used by the media to keep the masses entertained and distracted.

So, the people don't have time to wonder how many died in Iraq this week, or why the hell we are there in the first place, or why our leaders aren't arrested for the crimes they commit, or why they're putting up another cell tower down the street when the reception is fine, or why all those airplanes keep spraying that white stuff all over the sky, etc., etc.

Why do they use brain-dead celebrities doing brain-dead things as a distraction? Because it works.

Ahh! Just a couple of days ago. I was on the 'puter and the TV was going. I heard some drunk guy rambling on and it was the video, taken by his daughter I think they said, of him grovelling around on the ground trying to eat a pizza. Somethin' like that anyway.. I didn't take too much notice. :D

the sad thing is the sheep actually look up to these celebrities, why? fame/ego, money/power.
