View Full Version : I'm sick of it

It's sad that my work takes up so much of my time, that I have decided to write this WHILE AT WORK because I don't have any personal time anymore.
I had some personal time over the weekend and yesterday, but I was so sick of being behind or working with computers, that I didn't want to be near one.
Today, well, this morning, has put for a path infront of me, that I have decided what I'm going to do.
First of all, I have never had happen to me, what happened to me this morning.
One of the directors(the C.F.O.) of the company I work at came in this morning, and asked me where I was saturday.
Saturday, I was suppose to be here out of "own choice", meaning, I could come if I wanted. However, I had allot to drink the night before and the next afternoon(when I woke up) I decided not to go. My colleges had said they would only be there between 10am and 4pm. I woke up at around 1pm, and it takes me two hours or so to get out to my job.
No, imagine you're sitting at your desk, and a director comes up and asks you where you were saturday. You already think this guy looks like a snake, but imagine the shock and confussion you get when after you tell them "no, I over slept due to a late night" the first words out of their mouth is "What the fuck is wrong with you?!"...
I was called a son of a bitch, irressponsible, and that "if I don't show more passion for my work, I'll be fired and gone by friday"..
All of this yelled at me infront of my other colleges. The only other time someone has ever yelled at me infront of others (or by our selves) they usally got my fist in their face.
But out of confussion, and wanting to keep this job for alittle longer, I just said "sorry, it won't happen again"...
Now, I later found out that there was somethign that was happening, and when my colleges couldn't get ahold of me(I called my telephone service, there was a problem with the servers that day) they had to work an extra 8 hours just so they could make the dead line.
Now, I'll admit that I should have called in and said I'd not be coming in. But fuck me, you don't pull that shit with me...
And after my 6 months, this place can fuck it's self.
Wanna know where I work?

Fook me...2 hours to get to work!
You should have left that place a long time ago man! Four hours out of your day devoted to getting to and from work....thats 20hrs a week! Fuck that shit.
But yeah...i think your boss was way out of line. Jeesus thats no way to earn the respect of your staff!

You work at The Hague don't you..
Nobody should ever have to put up with that shit. Don't go back even if you have to spend thousands of Euros setting yourself back up again.. its not worth it. Forgive, forget and move on. Rapid.

In nature, baboons form social groups based on pecking order with the alpha male at the top of a hierarchical pyramid with lower and lower ranks further down the pyramid. The baboons are very aggressive and the hierarchy is held together by higher ranked baboons dominating lower ranked baboons. A baboon that has been bullied by a higher ranked baboon often in turn bullies other baboons that are lower in the rank.

h1s_l0rdsh1p,
I don't know anything about employment laws in The Netherlands but you might want to check with a lawyer to see if you have a case for harassment.
I think you would in the USA.

I don't live in the USA. And a lawyer isn't going to help shit. It's one of the "golden rules" of the stock exchange. He with the gold, makes the rules.
However, I work in IT, not in stocks. Although I do have to work with that shit half the time.
I work for a company called Van der Moolen.
And trust me, this place is so corrupt, that an ex-director said to a news paper last week that "the only thing left expect from this company is to find a weed-plantation inside the headquarters". Funny enough, I work, but no weed. :(
But I live in Vlaardingen. So my traveling is like this:
I'm out of my house by 5:30am.
I catch the 5:51 train to Rotterdam Central
I arrive at Rotterdam at 6:10 and catch the 6:29 train to Amsterdam
At 7:38, I make it to Amsterdam, and I finally arrive at work at 8:05am.
Today I arrived abit early because I took a tram. Normally I walk it.
So yes, traveling time is a bitch. But I'm gonna be talking to my maneger today and see what's happening. I'll admit, I'm abit of a deviation here. I'm the only who walks around in Converses or Vans the entire day. With baggy pants and a t-shirt.
But still yeah.

Let me say this much.
My true passion is helping people with their problems, mostly emotional, and discussing philisophical and deep questions.
I have always wanted to study psychology, but have never had the money to pay for it. Plus I still need to take the tests.
Yes, I'm good at computers and I don't mind working with them. I love working with computers. I love making things, helping people with those kinds of problems. But I don't like actually have to do the computer work that a job requires.
My passion is to help people. I wish I could join peace corps or something like that. But it's all a scam anyways.
What should I do?

well not a bad passion to have....
not saying that my life is dandy and where I want to be, but one thing I can say is I have allays created certain opportunities I can look at... just kind of in limbo at the moment but I can see roads ahead.... its more a case of me waiting for my self to take a choice and have more belief in my self.....
but its because I defiantly believe those choices are real and beneficial that they are there....
If your not into the whole LOA thing I wont ram it down your throat but I would recommend this book
Amazon.co.uk: ask and it is given: Books@@AMEPARAM@@http://ecx.images-amazon.com/images/I/41jl9RxxUaL.@@AMEPARAM@@41jl9RxxUaL
if you are un happy with your scenario which you clearly are then have you not already made things clear to your self? ....so now they are clear you just got to look out for the next step... but it should be a good thing..
I know its not always easy to keep positive but it does work.
I have been down for a while.... but now im coming out of it and looking back and where I was down actually now just looks like something I had to go through to give me my current state of mind...where im more positive and focused..... if you were happy before then you would not have realised you are not doing what you should be doing... so it shows you are healthy !

Move to a country in the EU, or indeed any other place where your IT talents will be appreciated. The beauty is that you don't HAVE to work there. Get a job closer to home (this will save you 20+hrs a week) or work from home using your IT skillz to help PC illiterate people.
There must be more than one IT job going in Holland surely?
I used to work with a colleague once who hated the boss and whined constantly about how the place was run and how things should be done. He got to moaning and griping at me at an office party once and was starting to really get on my nerves. Eventually to get him to shut his mouth i said... 'if you don't like it why don't you fuck off then???' This stopped him dead in his tracks...I think he saw sense in that statement as he left the company not long after.
So in short...if you don't like it....you have a choice innit?
Make it.

Look, I do computers for 2 reasons..
1: Because they are needed and it's best to know them to help others with it.
2: Information. Everything can be found if you know how to break in.
Anyways, but I was thinking. Maybe working closer to home is better. Hopefully not for a company that trades stocks in a company that abuses animals. (HLS and Van der Moolen)
Anyways, I want to be a good person. I don't want my hands in blood.
But I first need to secure a few things first.

I know what you mean. I think what I need to do is get myself working on this.
First thing, is making a plan.
I've decided that I will work for atleast another 2 years(anywhere) and safe every penny I can to start on a bachelors or associates degree in basic psychology.
After that, I'd like to go for my psychology. I think it will take around 4 years all together. After which, I could go after a masters after a while. What do you guys think?

I know I'll need it though. My biggest problem is going into school and not arguing with a teacher if I feel they're wrong.
I mean, yeah, I hold and share allot of the same beliefs as people here. However, I have a bit of a post-modernist belief as well. Which might make a teacher fail me, or might enlighten them. But, life is boring if you don't take chances, right? :)

I know exactly what I'd say:
Enjoy your wealth and power while it last, because people like me are starting to pop up in numbers everywhere, and are starting to see past this veil of demi-godhood you've made for yourself and we are NOT scared. Because we know, you are just as vulnerable as the rest of us. ;)

It's a scare tactic to bring you back under control and into the herd. This person has no respect for you, or for your colleagues, because shouting at you in front of them is very uncool. Not just for you, but for them also. It's a tactic to scare them at the same time, just in case any of them feel entitled to their own time or freedom. Just in case anyone thinks that their freedom and their personal lives are more important that the agenda of the stock exchange. You're not entitled to any human activities of your choice, you must be a robot. Sleep, work, eat, sleep work, eat.....
You know what is right for you and for how long you can stand it, so do what you must, but I don't think this prick deserves your loyalty or respect. To him, you're just a herd animal.

good advice. i spent 12 years working for fortune 500 companies. i just gave my two weeks one day. my company was laying off 150 people. i 'survived' the axe. so, i walked into my boss' office, and said, "take me instead. i can't see myself working here in five years anyway, and it wouldn't be fair to someone who really needs this job."
they looked at me like i was from mars! :D
do it now, before you get tied down with legal documents and commitments. nobody owns you. they call pension plans "golden handcuffs" for a reason. :o i had a great one, that would have been worth well over 300k if i'd still been at that company. my soul was worth much more to me.
if you're doing i.t. work, freelance is my advice. that's the way the job market is going, anyway. just by a book on marketing and p.r. learn to promote the business of hislordship, inc. it's not really as bad as it sounds. :)

Shit..
I've thought about doing freelance. However, I need to get the diploma's to "prove my excellence" to places.
But that could help me. I've decided that I'm going to safe up around 15,000 euros and get myself in to university for psychology. But I'm going to promote pure objectiveness. Perhaps skitzo's aren't "just seeing things". Perhaps they have a chemical function in their brains which allow them to see more than us.

CCO can mean different things. But ours is Chief Compliance Officer.
Fuck, the title says it all really. He's the twat who makes sure all the RULES are followed. The guy at school who took down all the names of classmates misbehaving when the teacher was out. :D
And i bet he enjoyed every minute of it too!!
