Russell Crowe is reportedly to play late comedian Bill Hicks in a new biopic. An inspired piece of casting or a joke?

Crowe's too old - leave Bill alone.

Just read Kevin Booth's book 'Agent Of Evolution' and watch and listen to Bill's original output. All you need.

They should let Doug Stanhope play him. He really is the only comic around that could even do him justice.

Oh I'm glad I reread that then. As I misread Russell Crowe as Russell Brand. Now that would be a dire piece of casting...

I agree 100% , tho I must admit I always thought hicks was more than a comic not sure what I would call him but deffo allot more than just a comic.

I have no idea who Doug Stanhope is. OK just looked him up. A good comedian does not necessarily make a good actor. He has his own style similar to Bill Hicks but different, and that would be the problem.

Russell Crowe may not be the nicest person in the world but he is a fantastic actor and really gets into his part, so I think it will be interesting.

Russell Crowe????? A legend portrayed by a lemon!

Paint drying is more interesting than him, his career took a dive down the shitter after Romper Stomper. Definitely a film I will not watch.

I think it may awaken people to a certain extent , so looking at the big picture it may be good thing,

however anything that goes through the hollywood system is liable to be wishy washy and quite possibly untrue , any film has to be dumbdowned and altered with a formula to make loads of cash , its what its all about after all

Russell Crowe = 44 years old now
Bill Hicks = 32 years old when he died

Exactly what period of Hicks' life will Crowe portray accurately?
Fuck off Holly Wood.

I imagine the very idea of a biopic would have revolted Bill, but I'd need to hear from his friends like Kevin Booth and his family to confirm this.
