Allways when i'm making a post here the login timeout kicks in , am I the only one pissed off by this or can it be fixed ??

I've lost a LOT of posts because of it, like having a few widows open for reference, by the time ive made a reply , or a post the site tells me im not frikkin logged in!!!!!

Can this be bloody fixed sao as we can log in and out when we want, it pisses me off no end.

I cannot be on my own here surely ??????????????

i dont think its zone alarm because i havent got it, but i get the time out things, what happens i think is just put your details back in and then it confirms your post i think, but im not sure, i copy then paste mine just so i dont have to write them again if it goes too pot.

No TW don't use it , so you put in Zone Alarm, before that did you have this problem like me ??

Since this site's been a testbed, and then going full on i've had the problem.

I don't get this problem anywhere else I login to at all. Weired maybe its a site thing I reckon because Its hapening to someone else here too.

I think its the forums foblem maybe, but hey I might be wrong...I like the way it clears the cookies though.

But you know when you are doing a long post , and it dissapears, its so annoying to try to re-post what you said, and by then your focuss has gone and you don't put half as much into the post as you did when you first tried to post it . LOL

Nice to see you P:)

Thats a good idea I suppose copy and pasting them sepratley, Ive put the details in again and got thrown a white page that don't load in a bigger post anyway.

PROBLEM REACTION SOLUTION LOL Something must be done lol by the powers that be ...:)

I experience the same timeout whenever I'm on here. I've not timed it but the account does not have to be inactive for long before you're logged out. I do think it's too quick tbh. Webserver default timeouts are normally around 900 seconds which = 15 minutes.

The only time I have encountered this problem is if I have logged in without checking the 'remember me' field. I run os x, dunno if that makes any diff.

I do however have constant incompletely loaded pages where the "quick reply to this message" icon on each post doesn't work, or emoticons don't work. But I think that is my b grade isp.

it's never happened to me here, but it has on some other forums, i've also taken to copying my longer posts to notepad or something before i post.

This has happened to me loads of times. I always copy and paste now too, although recently if it times out and i log in again the post reappears where it should.

Hey Phoenix honey :)

Yeah I get this too, it's bloody annoying sometimes!! I'm also in the habit of copying in case it gets lost!! It also runs really slow at times. Hopefully something can be done to sort it soon...:)

Yes I know what you mean, it is very annoying but if you re-login you will find that your post will still be there and you can finish it then post it. Next time it tells you that your not logged in enter your username and password again, and you should be able to finish where you left off.

Emma's right. If you write a long post and before you post it you find yourself logged out.....your post is NOT LOST.....simply re-enter your details and your post will go ahead an post for you.

As a mod, I'm often on here for long periods of time. I do other work on my computer, and I leave my office to go do other things etc. When I come back to check in and see what's happening on the forum, I'm ALWAYS logged out and have to re-enter deatils. On that score I must be the queen of "login".....I do it about 30 times a flippin' day!!!!

Jolly annoying! Would be good if we had an option that allowed us to just stay logged on till we chose to log out?

Wouldn't that make more sense?

I don't know ANYTHING about the technical side of the setting up of the forum protocols, but I'll draw Seans attention to this thread as he might be able to shed some light on this for us.

One of the MOST frustrating problems I encounter on the forum is EXCRUCIATINGLY SLOW page loads......and the many "time-outs" associated with that. Some days it drives me crazy!

It is frustrating but I am not sure what the cause is. Sometimes I can stay logged in all day even if I close the browser. Others I have to log in often. I have actually opened my browser next day and am still logged in

When I was staying with my son and using his computer, I could come back at anytime, next day even, and would still be logged in unless I had specifically logged out.

As has been suggested, if making a long post, do it in notepad or word and then copy and paste. Easy peasy :D

Must be a pc thing... I never have this problem on my mac unless I click 'log out' and then log in later without checking the 'remember me' field. I can switch the mac off and still be logged in when I next open the browser... must be your operating systems, dunno why else it doesn't happen to me. That's windows for ya... My isp on the other hand? Don't get me started on that..

You know I_am...I have also experienced the odd day here and there when I have remained logged in myself - much to my surprise - so THIS doesn't really make sense in light of my other post does it?

Nah!! Not sure what it is, mabe ISP, maybe security settings, maybe.....who knows??

My son has a pc but I never had to login the whole week I was there, even after disconnecting from the net.

I reckon it's a timeout setting based upon the length of time your account is inactive. After what seems to be a short time if your account is inactive you are logged out automatically. The keystrokes when writing a post I think are ignored so if it's a lengthy one or one you come back to it then you can be timed out.

Time outs are deliberate and are used for various reasons. System resource protection and security spring immediately to mind.

The time out on here is a little too quick tho imho.

Hi JA, Couldn't agree with you more. Very annoying to be logging on all the time.:(

Everyone needs to do this, it's just such a bummer to lose your post to a timeout. It's so easy. Ctrl + C - V does the trick also =)

This forum has some sort of defense software that blocks the dark forces and the Illuminati spyware watch.
