dark city is an interesting movie . K-pax is a very good one , when i saw it advertised i thought they had done a remake as i had seen it with Jeff bridges as the alien? and he helped the psychiatric ward search for the blue bird of happiness . When i watched the movie Jeff bridges was the psychiatrist ,but the movie panned out the same .As far as i can see it wasn't a remake ! so i dont know how i knew the story line
If you like reading get the trilogy of K-PAX amazing books i read after watching the film the second two books add greatly to the tale .:D

when you said "Good" alien themed movies... i thought it was a good point as how many movies where aliens are portrayed as good beings... and not evil or frightening?

I think ET was one.... but there are not really allot of others...

most of the big titles portray them as anti human..

War of the worlds... Alien.... predator.... V.... fire in the sky... (not seen contact) ... signs....

not many want to portray them as good.

Contact shows them pretty spiritual from what I remember, I'm going to re-view it soon :)

Contact is one of my all-time favourite films. I actually thought it was better than the book, which I found a bit plodding and boring, frankly (sacrilege! :) )

I'm surprised nobody (including me! lol :D ) has mentioned The Day the Earth Stood Still...

or It Came from Outer Space

Both movies had goodie aliens. :)

Then there was The Thing from Another World - baddie or just a fish out of water
Twenty Million Miles To Earth - poor creature transplanted from Venus
First Men in the Moon - more baddies, but soon undone by the meddling of humans
Invasion of the Body Snatchers - more baddies
Forbidden Planet - extinct aliens leave their technology to be found by 'unprepared' humans
Invaders from Mars - or was it all a dream?
Quatermass and the Pit - long gone Martians still affect the human mind
This Island Earth - aliens (not all baddies) need humans to help in war

I need to get out more :)

A.I. also has good aliens in it, and an interesting kind as well.

Star Wars, but I guess everyone in Star Wars are aliens, Star Trek as well.

Star Gate and Star Gate Atlantis (Although Star Gate Atlantis havent gotten any movies yet).

Futurama :)

Transformers, The movie took me a bit by surprise. I thought it would be quite bad as a movie, but they did not make the robots the main characters, and the movie turned out okay in my oppinion. Also they added some nice new stuff the the Transformers universe, and made them a bit more realistic in some ways. I guessing AI will evolve a species of its own at some point, but when it comes to that, I think it will become more and more organic, instead of machine. It might actually need to be fully organic to begin with, to be able to process the amount of data needed to make true AI, thats self learning and evolving.

Superman... :p He is a good natured alien after all.

I guess they arent all good movies or at least good at making a serious guess at what real aliens might be like. Then again:

Men in Black, these movies might actually be a good guess at how aliens are already here. Some of the makers of the movie actually believes aliens are already here amongst us, pretending to be humans.

Yeah, the second is really laim:(
Did you notice the name on Fox's mobile to Dana Scully was saved as Gillian? (her real name)WTF?:D
The first movie just got everything from Black Chopters to the Mothership, this barely got anything paranormal in it and no conspiracy.
A big letdown, but nice to see them back on the screen anyway.
There were rumors of a third film coming in 2012 but I doubt that now..

Yes I noticed that. I was really let down by that movie. I was hoping for a more alien based story. The psychic priest just did not cut it.

Wow, I'm surprised nobody has mentioned Communion (1989)

I'm not really in the Alien thing, but this movie was a fav of mine in the 90s.
Mainly because of its many levels. All about supposed 'Alien abduction'.
But it could also be a commentary on Sleep Paralysis and other things.
Or, making you wonder if it's just mental issues the man is experiencing.
That's what good about it. It makes you think, and make up your own mind.
Christopher Walken is superb in it, and the music through it is great.
Basically, this movie was one of the first, before X-Files, Fire in the Sky, etc.

The UFO Incident, about the Barney and Betty Hill abduction.

Earth vs. The Flying Saucers - generic B-movie, but with great Harryhausen effects and based on Major Donald Keyhoe's book, Flying Saucers from Outer Space (I think it was that one :) ).

Jeff Bridges plays an Alien in the film 'Starman' by John Carpenter. I've not seen it but I will get around to it eventually.

Contact is a fantastic film. Such an underated film in my opinion.
