Really, very interesting. Binoculars better than telescope?

Binoculars are always a better way to look at the celestial objects in the night sky, than a cheap telescope.

But if you want to look at the night sky seriously, you need a proper scientific telescope - [not cheap]!

Im an avid amateur astronomer, if you're looking to get into it I recommend binoculars and a planesphere/star map to learn the constellations first.

Then when you go to get a telescope, dont skimp. lowest aparteur I recommend is 8 inches. Get a nice newtonion reflector with a dobson mount, but be ready to learn how to collimate.

Good luck.

Just bought a huge pair of binoculars ready for the staged alien invasion if nothing else. Also long range observation. Typically we haven't had a clear night since!

Image stabilised binoculars for me. Really not cheap! But I'm worth it! ;)

I have been meaning to get a telescope for AGES, it's amazing looking at planets/stars through them and they arent really as expensive as they used to be I believe. :)

Hi loderlive :)

Did you ever get any binoculars? I wished I had took mine to the meet.. I saw patrick moore do a lecture years ago and he said the same as others on here.. If you think you have enough money for a telescope, you dont! Spend the cash on the best pair of binoculars you can.. :)
