My wife's expecting our first baby in December, wondered if anyone can recommend a good book covering nutrition/ natural solutions. I'm not keen on getting the baby vaccinated either, but would need to convince my wife. The difficulty is finding any practitioner of any sort around to discuss these issues. The only natural advisers around seem to be homeopaths or people into Reiki/ Acupuncture or similar, as i've never had any success with these types of treatment I can't really be expected to make major decisions without discussing these with a professional/ adviser. The closest thing i've come across is Dr Mercola, but there only based in the US.
If anyone knows of any in the Hampshire/ Dorset (UK) area please let me know.

get her on cod liver oil or other high quality fish oil asap. People complain about the fish being all caught in the oceans and i sympathize completly but there is no time like before birth to soak up those good minerals and oils from the sea! 1 tablespoon a day!
Steer clear of all sugars and these are the only ones that will ever be ok for your baby
raw honey
dehydrated cane juice/rapadura/sucanat
date sugar
molasses
stevia
there could be a few others but those are the best ones
Steer clear of any non fermented grain product, cerials, breads processed foods. Sourdough is ok! soak all grains at least over night in water or even better with yogurt/buttermilk/whey mixed in with the water and a bit of salt!
I usualy soak all my grains over a day
Not a lot of animal protien is needed, mixing small amounts of animal protein with lots of grain and legume (pea, bean sometimes leguminous root) will be better than eating a whole lot of meat.
For growing minds saturated fats and omega 3's are CRUCIAL, feed purslane salads, ground flax raw and raw flax oil, insects, soft boiled free range organic eggs, fatty fish for mega threes and then free range beef, raw free range milk and cheeses, unprocessed coconut, palm oil, bear, goose, duck, beaver, (other large rodents) all have essential saturated fats WHICH ARE A MUST but remember there is no replacement for FRESH MOTHERS MILK WHICH YOU MUST DO. Infact sustaining milk feeding for as long as possible is the best thing to do for the baby but for the mother 2 years is a lot and 3 years is rediculous so she must keep herself in the best of health in order to do so! Fats are the most important part of early development. NO PROCESSED OILS, even cooking many unprocessed oils will ruin them and make them totaly unhealthy, Only olive, peanut, palm, coconut and some animal fats (butter and those animals with high saturated fat) are safe for cooking.
VITAMINS AND MINERALS buy organic produce and lots of leefy green vegtables and find some way to get him to eat them! remember variety is key! if you have green orange red and yellow there is almost every mineral included if your lucky! Chickory, beets, garlic, rose hips, burdock (gobo), broccoli (and the leaves) are a good base start there!
Last but not least, one of the victums of industrialization is the destruction of naturaly fermented foods. Sourcrout, kimchi, kombucha, kvass, raw honey and many many other possibilities out there should be part of everyones diet!
i suggest you buy the book nourishing traditions!

Avoid all MSG containing products too...try google video 'Dr Russell Blaylock' for his presentations about MSG/aspartame and links to behaviour and long term nerve damage of babies in the womb.
MSG is hidden in foods too under various guises such as Yeast Extract, Natural Flavouring etc so you need to check out all names for this and avoid!

I also recommend your wife getting a few Reiki treatments as it will help balance out her chakras and clear out any stagnant energy that may be in her auric field. Baby too will enjoy the sessions.
I support you on your decision not to vaccinate.
Congratulations!!!
