these kind of set peices are just for show.
alot of it is real but impossible to pull off in a real fight.
just goto bullshido.net or wildko and look at aikido. very similar, but in a fight they suck

Staged event is much easier to pull off, no different to Jackie Chan movies, prep and controlled environment.

The "bullshido" generation is so fast to make fun of traditional styles. What we musnt forget is that these traditional martial arts are tried and tested, yeah, are we aware of what it takes to be Russian special forces? At one point 30 percent of troops died while trying to pass the examination. Are we aware of how violent just living in certain parts of Russia can be? So when we have some people on Bullshido.com or the like who are mainly young or come from backgrounds, where people fight for fun or ego not for survival, saying that Brazilian JJ is more effective than Systema or Tai-Chi (BJJ is great, but for real world combat it is not particulary useful, it is a style derived from Japanese Jui-Jitsu, which was created for samurais fighting in armour, you cant punch through armour, so its etter to try and break bones). They are under these opinions because they believe that fighting in a cage match is "tried and tested", when of course the UFC is nothing like fighting for your life in a combat situation, which is where systems such as Systema actually came from.
It is true Systema and others used by other militaries including the US, are used to some extent for propaganda style purposes, and to encourage soldiers to fight even when they have lost their weapon. And they can, like every practice, be close to useless if trained incorrectly.
In regards to that video, it is just a demonstration of various techniques, it isnt a real fight and it isnt meant to look like one, it isnt meant to prove anything, its an example. To make moves like that work you have to repeat them thousands upon thousands of times and understand every breakdown of the moves intricately.
Furthermore if I were to ask someone to provide us any disarmament techniques that are more effective than what is shown on the video they will have trouble with most popular martial arts today, even Krav Maga will not bring up anything better. The only advantage is that Krav Maga can be learned more quickly by the average person.
Systema is ridiculed for the concept of "chi" like orgone energy that it incorparates, but even if you dont believe in this it misses a vital point, the idea of using and feeling this type of energy adds the "aliveness" of combat. The concept of aliveness is used today in MMA to a great degree, but Systema and Tai Chi and some others help us to develop the true understanding of the term. The power that can be developed in these martial arts is so much more for such less energy, the projection of strikes and the feeling you get for the way the body moves and reacts is so much more refined than say Boxing or Muay Thai.
The other thing that people forget is that traditional soft martial arts, unlike modern or the so called reality based mas, often have other benefits. the training can be hard in Tai-Chi but training Muay Thai leaves you with injuries, what good is training to fight and then when a fight comes your way (because they aways come at the most inopportune circumstances) you cant do shit because you are to banged up?
All that above is my personal opinion, what I will say is I wouldant go criticising other martial arts without getting to know them at least a little.
And what is always true without fail, is that there are no good or bad martial arts, there are only good and bad martial artists.

Of course I don't anything about this or the participants but if it's the way it appears you would think the "Master" would test it out before putting on a challenge..... regardless it made the poor guy look pretty lame.... and I was hopin he would at least do SOMETHING.

Well, you`ve obviously done neither.

Trust me, if you`d have trained in traditional, Ueshiba Aikido, or Systema for that matter, you`d know it`s not bullshit.

It`s more effective than that bollocks you see in th UFC.
