i don't have one, obviously.

remember stuart wilde saying he didn't have a phone (pre-mobile days) and people would say what about emergencies? he retorts i DON'T have emergencies.

now thats not the reason for me not having one, more to do with paranoia and the frequency disruption of carrying one on me all the time.

I dont and never will, no need for it.

If you can't get me at home then you can't get me. Thats it.

It makes me laugh though, when companies ask for a mobile number.

You can hear the stunned silence as they try to figure it out.

Then it's, why not?

It certainly makes you think though, after all most people assume everyone has one, and also think everyone has a car or can drive, or everyone has a TV or even a roof over their head. But that`s obviously not the case yet some people will laugh at you if you say that :confused:

One other thing I use on my phone regularly is it`s camera (K800i) which is excellent for the most part :) And saving myself £10-£15 by unlocking it myself certainly helped :D

A suggestion regarding that, DON`T give your home number to anything such as the council, doctors etc as they now pass it on to any other government departments. As far as they`re concerned I`m no longer on the phone, it`s none of their sodding business anyway...

I love my phone, my little frequency disturber and tracking device also plays nice music and allows me to speak with my mum unlike you rich people, you cant have a ''home phone' because you need a home to have one of those i seem to remember!?!?! Fucking western slimy rich ignorant people. OOHH im so awake....what ever.

I cant even begin to write my real respond. Phones as they should be are not bad, it's whats being done with them. Trully, not having a phone does you no better when the towers that power them are on your back door step. Think you arnt tracked with out a phone hahaha thats funny...

?

I do have one...and must say it probably even saved my life once. A couple of years ago I was living in a very bad area of town, with my grandmother, and she had a landline, which she turned the ringer off every night at 9pm. I didn't get home till 11pm due to work. I had to get off the bus about 5 blocks from the apartment and walk the rest of the way. This area was ghetto...prostitutes walking around, drug deals happening in broad daylight. Random screams in the middle of the night..you get the picture.

This particular night I got off the bus and there was a man walking towards me. He crossed the crosswalk with me and asked me where I was going. I said 'home', and he asked if he could follow me. I was like...uh wth, and said "NO". He continued to follow me. I didn't know anyone else in the city to call, as I had only been living there for 2-3 months. So I decided to call my dad who lives 12 hour drive away. I called my dad and told him to meet me at the door because I was almost home. I made very clear that I was talking to my dad and he was going to meet me. My dad on the other end was clearly confused but the guy who was following me apparently wasn't because he took the hint and walked to the other side of the road. I quickly told my dad what was going on and he stayed on the phone with me. I near the door of my apartment and the guy is suddenly behind me breathing down my neck. I shakingly put my key in the door and proceeded to step in whilst the guy behind me grabs the door and starts to follow me inside. I said "excuse me do you live here?" he said "uh, no" with a wierd grin on his face. I quickly shoved the door shut before he could step inside.

It's also gotten me out of a few other sticky situations. So, maybe it's fine for all you men out there not to have one, but for a female living alone in a shady area it could definitely be an asset.

If I'm going out with other people or during the day I don't have a problem leaving it at home.

I don't have one, officially.

I do have an anonymous pay-as-you-go phone that I take with me in the car in case of an emergency.

I bought 180 minutes of airtime in January, and I still have 90 minutes left. It hardly gets used.

and sometimes one does not have a choice at the time to move to a better area...

Just sayin that in that particular instance it worked for me to have a cell phone.

Also, call me a wuss but it makes me feel better when I have to walk by myself in dodgy areas to have a cell phone with me to contact someone in case things go awry.

They only create more distance between people, rather than bringing them closer together.

They're also just a pain in the ass. Isn't the point of leaving the house to get the hell away from things like the telephone?

The main problem is that pay phones will become more and more scarce as cell phones become more and more common. So at some point in the not-too-distant future they may, unfortunately, become nearly a necessity.

Widespread use of mobile phones on UK airlines moved a step closer today following a ruling by the communications watchdog Ofcom. The decision to grant licences for mobile communications on aircraft means that one of the last refuges from annoying ringtones and loud phone conversations is likely to disappear soon. The prospect of passengers shouting "I'm on the plane" at 11,000 metres (37,000 ft) may fill many with dread, but the airlines could be set to reap bigger profits by charging passengers a premium to make and receive calls in the air.

I have a mobile for business calls, but I don't carry it when I'm out. I had a bugger of a time when I was out recently and needed to make a call, public phones are now very few and far between. Heres an interesting conversation I had with my doctor the other day, I was concerned about my wi fi in my laptop being dangerous to your reproductive organs because of the proximity when it's sitting on your lap, he kind of just laughed and shrugged it off and compared it to mobile phones, he said "it's like mobile phones, even if it's proved they cause cancer, nobodies going to stop using them are they?" I thought this was an extraordinary statement coming from a doctor..:confused:

I think mobiles are a scourge, I'd like to see them all blown up. I travel a lot and have people I travel with and once one of my friends left his phone at home, it left him in a blind panic, so he called his wife and had her send it to him by courier, we were only going away for three or four day's.:rolleyes:

No, never had one never will.

If I need to get in touch with anyone urgently when I'm out (a very rare occurrence) I just ask whoever I'm with to text the person in question or allow me to borrow their mobile for a moment. Its never happened, but if I was alone and in an emergency situation where I needed to make a call, I would simply stop and ask a passer-by to help me in the same way. Sometimes I think I'm the only person on the planet who doesn't have one, so I really don't need one anyway.

I hate them to be honest, but I guess in certain rare circumstances they have a higher calling. :D

Yes! It would take some time for people to adjust though... mobile 'phones seem to be grafted onto so many people's ears these days. It would almost like having a limb missing for them. It used to just be businessmen and drug dealers! ;) When did this all take off (become cult-like).. about the year 1999... 2000?? I mean in the UK/Ireland. I suspect it was a little earlier in the US...

Yeah, blow 'em up! Smash the mobile 'phone transmitters into a thousand pieces! :mad:

I don't need any scientists to tell me they are dangerous. when I used to have one (4 years ago) it used to burn my ears and I had to keep changing ears. Maybe they are better now but I would still avoid using them. Keep calls short etc. I agree that there is a strange culture around them. I see people fiddling with their phone especially girls when ever they are alone in public. As for wifi that is definately real bad especially when it is a strong signal. I was using it last week and could feel the damage. No doubt about it. I am now on a good old fashioned wire.

Once on a train there was a fellow, all business types sitting in all the chairs ,and he was almost going out of his way to let everybody know how he just invested £500.000 (500 thousand) in a business venture.........then......his phone started ringing!!!! HAHA i laughed so hard.

People no longer have proper conversations, it's all crappy chit chat, gossip etc. Sad but true.

I probably make 3 calls a week, when my mum walks at night i phone to make sure sees o.k etc. Did any of you see the thread where i said you can cook a egg from the battery heat and radio waves - this cooks your brain. And if you see articles on educate-yourself.org many articles and letters from people saying how sick they made them and gave them long term health problems. We all have reactions different to each person. You should go check them pages out, he has lots of proof about the damage they cause.

I think most of them are from 2005/2006 so look for the cataloged pages??
I too hate wireless, id never never have a wireless laptop sitting on my lap. We are bombarded day in day out with radio waves and elf towers etc.

One day we will look back and think, the phone was a good idea, but should have been used more like communicators from Star Trek, and we will also look back and think, gee, how disgusting how we used these objects to bring hurt to others.. You know, like people never knew about the harm cigarettes caused back in the day.

Yes exactly. The art of conversation as you say, is an art form- and dying if not dead amongst most of our less educated kids. Hell you dont even need ''popular education'', I.E- schooling. I am self taught in most things. I learned to read at home and write by writing lyrics and poems and learning straight from the thesaurus dictionary. (Thesaurus children is NOT a dinosaur, i repeat NOT a dinosaur!!:eek: HEHEHE

Tavistock and named organisations have scripted many words and flooded them on to circulation via mason rappers, CIA made bands groups etc - with the purposes of changing the meaning of words to mind fuck - you know what i mean im sure. Look how many people now use words that a few years back meant something completely different. Bad=good, wicked=brilliant, sick='good shit'....for example.

People no longer know how to conversation correctly. Which is why i do think we should learn poetry and language as art form young ages. Books are invaluable do you agree?

Kids are becoming even worse with their ''h33t'' speak - i think you call it that? - you know like, 'lol', 'roflmao', 'm8t', '4u' et cetera.

My children will learn to speak properly and also learn how to debate and critically think. Something they will not be taught at school no doubt.

~~~~~~~~:
Can parents here please add your concerns on your childrens speech and influences you are worried about, maybe how and what they learn at school which you do not agree with?
Our world is a sorry state of affairs, but hope is not lost, as WE are here.
'''Leaders Not followers''' is my moto for us all ''truth seekers'':eek::eek::D:o:)
Its only a secret because its such a big, fat, ugly old one. My Mums old one actually, so if I need to use it I have to hide first so no one seems me with such a big, ugly, clumbersome phone.
I dont use it too much, I am scared of the health risks involved in carrying it around with my all day. I mean it is REALLY big, its like having a a heavy weight shoved in my pocket and it gives me a bad back.
The roads are so dangerous, the greatest safeguard I guess is not to drive but if you have too make sure you take responsibility to stay ahead of the game and master your own destiny. It is possible at least to increase your chances of survival. Certainly don't leave it to blame on others bad habits. The road system in general is a death trap and it's generally the ones who dont see it as such on their mobiles. Never drop your concentration.
Yeah, I saw it on a tribute documentary about his life- it was very interesting in fact. It was housed in an attache case.
(Nope, I'm not a closet Elvis fan... hahaha... but the biography was very good.)
Very true it's not very common amongst the youth.
Very true it's not very common amongst the youth.
I’ve come across a few obsessive phone users in college including one girl who has like 3 or 4 or even 5 expensive phones on her at one point and spends money on credits like no tomorrow.
Other lasses in my college once spent £15 by the afternoon just texting. When I did have a Cell Phone £20 lasted about a year because I hardily used it apart from to take photos for this Facebook generation to gawp at and rate your life from 1 - 10.
Socially I’ve probably missed out on long term friendships because I really don’t bother with Cell Phones. I just hope that in the near future (to an extent its happening now) we will arrange things socially by either the internet or face to face. Its all crazy man!
I need to have one for work, and also in case the train is early on my way home from work, means i can ring and get picked up a half hour earlier :D :D
its main purpose in my life is assisting me to get home from work earlier :P
considering im up at 5 am everyday, and don't walk through the door until 7:30 pm that night, and finally sit down at 8pm after ironing tomorrows clothes, to go to bed at 30 minutes later.
ANY TIME i can get is a blessing ;)
hence why i shall keep the phone.
for the record however, i fucking hate the things.
The only thing i can think of that is worse is people driving whilst on the phone.
Especially on the highways. I am going to haveto write a letter to the council or police soon cause its so freakin crazy.
In California they now have a law making it it illegal to drive and talk on your cell phone, unless you have a hands free device (ei a bluetooth). If you are caught driving without a hands free set, you get fined.
Once you are ALL totally dependant upon your mobile phones, i.e. no public phone-boxes, or land-lines at home....that's when they will shut it all down.
Why is everything going digital? All books , and paper records , are going onto computer. One em pulse and it's all gone.
Cling to your books folks.
Yeah I'm with you there - my books are very treasured & I wouldn't want to be without them.
Oops I do have a moby though as I find it useful at the mo, but I'm probably guilty of using it a bit too much:o It's so handy for my music, camera & keeping in touch though:p I also agree with the comment about having one with you as a woman for safety too, it's comforting when you're out & about on your lonesome at times:)
Me? I hardly even use mines. My cell phone is a annoying small piece of electronic crap that can be both useful and useless. Someone stole my cell phone in my sophomore year, I broke my cell phone when I was quite angry, and now I finally got my third one. See, the thing is crappy.
I only use it for emergencies.
it is a fine piece of electronic, but too delicate. if it falls 3 feet onto the pavement it may break. i will buy me a telepathy whenever they start selling them.
In fact my mobile crashed today for several hours i got really worried since i need it to get to work.
Something i forgot to mention earlier in regard to cell phones, you can always just use the speaker phone function. I always do, that way the radiation is going outward and not in your brain.
Still though, fuck cell phones.
i hate them and hardly turn mine on,which angers people,which in turn angers me because folk think you should be availeble to them at all times.its a funny thing that people actuly get pissed of with you when you either dont have one or simply just dont turn the thing on.even times when ive got rid of one someone has either baught me a new one or given me ther old one.i cant get away from the things no matter how mutch i hate them,thats why i like to keep it off most of the time just to piss sheeple off.
I don't have one and couldn't use one even if i wanted to . I suffer from ES(Electrical Sensitivity) and mobile phones make me ill. My skin goes red and i get terrible headaches, ditto for wireless networks too.
I speak to fellow ES sufferers(and i believe there are many who truly don't realise their phone has affected their health) and we find frequencies of mobile phones differ greately. The more modern ones, especially the sliding ones emit higher frequencies, the same with the flip phones. The simple ones seem to emit less EMF.
Socially people have got used to the fact i don't have one, though despite my insistence they make me ill, they simply don't understand it.
What worries me is all the talk about reducing the world population by 80-90%. What if they don't even need to do anything, and just sit on their lizard arses laughing at us all dying from brain cancer?
At the end of 2007, the total number of cell phone users worldwide reached 3.3 billion! Half the world's population. Maybe one day when their are even more users they can just flick a switch, change the frequency, and go in for the kill.
