Hope you don't mind; the new Battlestar Galactica is quite a favorite of mine - and considering I don't even watch TV - with just these few exceptions - that is saying quite something.
Anyway during the course of the series run I have noticed that the show conveys a lot about the nature of reality - however it does so on quite a subtle level.
It has a lot of its own symbolism and illustrates how symbolism is used with in real world. It also highlights the nature of hidden manipulators - both the physical type, and the non-physical type.
