Something that interests me is the power we have in our dreams. For example a couple of times in my dreams a dog has bit me in the leg and i felt a really warm sensation in in my leg then I wake up. Ive also done things in my dreams where it feels so real. Another thing that happens quite often is just when I start to fall to sleep sometimes I have this feeling where I feel as if I have missed a step and then my body jumps and I wake up. What could all this be and how are we able to do these thingsand feel them in our dreams? Also what is this matrix thing all about?

I used to get this feeling of my body jumping out of, well my body. I am pretty sure that it is when we are on the threshold of sleep (hypnogogic) and our etheric/astral bodies are coming out of our physical bodies.
The hardest thing is not to get involved in the 'fear' type feeling our mortal bodies generate, and end up getting pulled back into out 5 sense reality, if you can try and be detached about the experience and know that you will be safe, that your etheric/astral/soul body will come back into the physical if there is any danger.
I am speaking from personal experience, that's why it doesn't read like a book.
I don't get this feeling so much now, maybe there is a time or life circumstance that makes this happen.
Try remain detached but observant, and get your conciousness into your etheric body, if you manage it, explore, if you want to come back to your body focus on your feet.
I hope this make some sort of sense.

The matrix thing is about our entire reality (physical and others) being part of a conspirational illusion. We're not supposed to be here, living this meaningless physical existence.

Because there's NO diffrence between our "awake" state or our "dream" state. The problem is that WE "believe" our "awake" state to be "Real".
The Matrix is this holographic world in which we interpret it through the 5-senses and believe it to be real.

So what you are all saying is we are all in a matrix where everything is basically a visual illusion that we believe to be real. Does this mean everything we expeirence is fake? So is there anyway to get out and into reality basically wake up. Also what happens when we die then?

The matrix movies talk about living a computer generated dreamworld, we are in fact living in a mind generating type of computer world and believing it to be real. EVERYTHING is decoded by our brains into apparent physical experiences. How can anything be real if its just electrical signals interpretated by our brain?
The way to get out is to stop identifying with the mind program and let true pure awareness i.e. Infinite Consciousness to express itself with this matrix.
Death is just another part of the computer program, its like described as walking in ur mind i.e. different levels of awareness.

Every thing is an illusion and a lie, even the words on this screen.
There is one truth alone and that truth is your true nature, ask yourself what am I? The I you have been since a child, not the body or the beliefs or your changing personality. The I that is always watching your thoughts and even your dreams at night. The I that is the awareness separate from your thoughts and emotions. Strip the illusions away to find the real I that was always there.
That is what you are, that is the ultimate truth beyond belief systems, beyond thought, totally natural.

Even when we look into 'matter' we find it doesn't exist(according to our standards of an existence)
The matter is said to be made of atoms, that are made from protons, neutrons and electrons. These 3 and all other elementary particles can be placed in 3 categories: bosons, quarks and leptons (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Elementary_particle). At the end of the line, we enter the supersymmetric world where string theory takes over and tells you that everything is made up of energy 'strings' that vibrates in nowhere.
The point was: 'Something' (that is made of matter) only exists when an observer can be AWARE(consciousness) of its existence.
The conclusion, if consciousness(that is NOT matter) is not conscious of matter, the matter doesn't exist! Making matter the creation of consciousness.
My intuitions about why we are conscious:
1-every consciousness in all universes, in all different realities in all different time lines are the same consciousness. It, us, you, I are the same one. Think of it as a computer that creates sprites for a game, it controls all of them at once, giving them different characters, etc.
2-We are here because we chose to be AWARE of not knowing everything. Instead of having all the possibilities to be anything, we chose to experience all of them at the same time.
