When I first listened to this album last year I really liked it, but didn't think much of it, and I definitely did not connect it with the UFO phenomenon or the 2012 prophecy/Nibiru. However, after I've done all of this research and come to so much knowledge/information that before I had either completely ignored or disregarded as bogus mania, I listened to it again, and this seems like a remarkably accurate (in terms of correlation with popular 2012 theory) picture of the prophecies regarding aliens and the coming 2012 end of the 4th world/reality. It also seems to be heavily thematic concerning the manipulation of information and knowledge by secret societies/religious cults that rule over our dimension. Here are some lyrics for any interested parties:

Down on your knees, you'll be left behind
Down on your knees,
This is the beginning
You'll be left behind.
Watch what you think, they can read your mind
This is the beginning.
This is the beginning
Watch what you think,
I got my mark, see it in my eyes
They can read your mind.
This is the beginning
This is the beginning.
My reflection I don't recognize
I got my mob scene in my eyes
This is the beginning
This is the beginning.

Well, my reflection I don't recognize
We think we climb so high
This is the beginning
All up the backs we've condemned

Facing our consequence
We think we've come so high
This is the beginning of the end
Above all the backs we've come down

We face no consequence
You wait your turn, you'll be last in line
This is the beginning of the end
This is the beginning

Get out the way, 'cause I'm getting mine
You wait your turn,
This is the beginning
you'll be last in line
God helps the ones that can help themselves
This is the beginning
This is the beginning
Get out the way,
May be too late as far as I can tell
Cause I'm getting mine.
This is the beginning
This is the beginning

There are someones that can help themselves.
We think we've come so far
This is the beginning.
On all our lies we depend
May be too late, as far as I can tell.
Facing our consequence
This is the beginning.
This is the beginning of the end

We think we've come so far,
On all our lies been taken.
They say no consequence.
This is the beginning of the end.

^^^

That song seems to clearly refer to ID chips and armageddon.

---

I should have listened to her
So hard to keep control
We kept on eating but
Our bloated belly's still not full
She gave us all she had but
We went and took some more
Can't seem to shut her legs
Our mother nature is a whore

[CHORUS:]
I got my propaganda
I got revisionism
I got my violence
In hi-def ultra-realism
All a part of this great nation
I got my fist
I got my plan
I got survivalism

Hypnotic sound of siren
Echoing through the street
The cocking of the rifles
The marching of the feet
You see your world on fire
Don't try to act surprised
We'll do just what you told us
Lost our faith along the way and found ourselves believing your lies

[CHORUS]
[cut-up speech]

All bruised and broken, bleeding
She asked to take my hand
I turned, just kept on walking
But you'd do the same thing in this circumstance I'm sure you'll understand

[CHORUS]
[guitar solo]

You got your pacifism - I got survivalism (repeat)

^^

This refers to the Illuminati, our attempted murder of the earth, a coming revolution...

--

Gunfire in the street
Where we used to meet
Echoes that are beat
When the bass goes "bomb"
Right over my head
Step over the dead
Remember what you said

You know the part about life
Is just a waking dream
Well I know what you mean
But that ain't how it seems right here, right now

How can this be real?
I can hardly feel
Anymore

I am trying to see
I am trying to believe
This is not where I should be
I am trying to believe

Blood hardens in the sand
Cold metal in my hand
Hope you understand the way that things are gonna be
There's nowhere left to hide
'Cause God is on our side
I keep telling myself

I am trying to see
I am trying to believe
This is not where I should be
I am trying to believe

^^^

This is about revolution in the streets, and revival of faith in the face of great destruction. It could also refer to the war in Iraq but I doubt it's that because of the first line, "gunfire in the streets, where we used to meet" - it seems to refer to domestic terrorism or violence.

--

you and i, we may look the same
but we are very far apart
there's bullet holes where my compassion used to be
and there is violence in my heart

into fire you can send us
from the fire we return
you can label us a consequence
of how much you have to learn

you can try but you'll never understand
this is something you will never understand
can you hear it now?
hear it coming now?
can you hear it now?

on hands and knees
we crawl
you cannot stop us all

our bones, our skin
we will not let you win

you have set something in motion
much greater than you've ever known
standing there in all your grand naivety
about to reap what you have sown

time will feed upon your weaknesses
and soon you'll lose the will to care
when you return to the place that you call home
we will be there, we will be there

on hands and knees
we crawl
you cannot stop us all
our blood will stay
we will not go away

on hands and knees
we crawl
you can not stop us all
our blood our grace
will never leave this place

we crawl
we crawl
we crawl
we crawl

^^

This is a warning to the elites and warmongers that their plan is about to backfire. Trent is saying that they are securing their own destruction by abusing and murdering us, and that they have molded their own destined defeat. I love this song.

--

I let you put it in my mouth
I let it get under my skin
I let you put it in my veins
I let you take me from within

They tell us what we can and cannot do
Same thing we have heard 100 times before
Well, I put you inside of me
But none of that matters anymore

My God, can it go any faster?
Oh my God, I don't think I can last here
My God, Can it go any faster?
Oh my God, I don't think I can last here

I am you and you are me
We will never be alone
I have finally found my place in everything
I have finally found my home

I can leave all the past behind
I can see right through the whole faade
I'm becoming something else, Yeah
I am turning into God

My God, can it go any faster?
Oh my God, I don't think I can last here
My God, can it go any faster?
Oh my God, I don't think I can last here
(repeat)

^^

This song is about spiritual awakening and realizing that we have been manipulated. It also refers specifically to the quickening of time and it seems like Trent can't wait to get it over with, and for humanity to emerge from this disgusting series of events and consequences that have been forced on us.

--

Some say it was a warning
Some say it was a sign
I was standing right there
When it came down from the sky
They were expecting us
We felt it from inside
Said it was up to us
Up to us to decide

You've become a virus
That's eaten up its host
We've been watching you with all our eyes
And what you seem to value most
So much potential, or so we used to say
Your greed, self-importance, and your arrogance
You pissed it all away

We heard a cry
We've come to intervene
You will change your ways and you will make amends
Or we will wipe this place clean

Your time is tick-tick-ticking away

^^

Pretty self-explanatory. A warning from the Galactic Federation? It's clearly about aliens warning the earth that we're about to manifest our own destruction.

--

Hey man, please don't make a sound
Take a look around, can't you see what's right in front of you
Have a little taste, no more time to waste
You don't wanna get left behind cause it's all coming down right now

How hard is it to see
Put your faith in me
'Cause you wouldn't want to be nailed
To the wrong piece of wood
You should get where you belong
Everything you know is wrong
Come on, sing along, everybody now

God given

And it gives us sight
And we see the light
And it burned so bright
Now we know we're right
Still there's kingdom come
And thy will be done

We have just begun
We're the chosen ones

Wait, step into the light
How can this be right?
I'm afraid we're gonna ask you to leave
This you cannot win
With the color of your skin
You won't be getting into the Promised Land
This is just another case
You people still don't know your place
Step aside, out the way, wipe that look of your face
Cause we all get defined
Separated from the swine

Come on, sing along, everybody now
God given

And it gives us sight
And we see the light
And it burned so bright
Now we know we're right
Still there's kingdom come
And thy will be done

We've just begun
We're the chosen ones

And it gives us sight
And we see the light
And it burned so bright
Now we know we're right
Still there's kingdom come
And thy will be done

We've just begun
We're the chosen ones

^^

From the perspective of the "righteous" - shedding light on those illuminated ones who for some reason have to hide their "righteous" works in the dark of deceit and treachery. This song exposes the hypocrites who claim to be "of God"

--

Say your name.
Try to speak as clearly as you can.
You know everything gets written down.
Nod your head.
Just in case they could be watching.
With their shiny satellite.

I hope they cannot see.
The limitless potential.
Building inside of me.
To mirror everything.
I hope they cannot see.
I am the great destroyer.

Turn it up.
Listen to the shit they pump into your head.
Filling you with apathy.
Hold your breath.
Wait until you know the time is right on time.
The end is near.

I hope they cannot see.
The limitless potential
Building inside of me.
To mirror everything.
I hope they cannot see
I am the great destroyer

^^

Recognizing the power to destroy the evil that leeches from us is the message of this song. We are masters of our own fate, and that is the clear message.

--

watch the sun,
as it crawls across a final time
and it feels like,
like it was a friend.
it is watching us,
and the world we set on fire
do you wonder,
if it feels the same?

and the sky is filled with light
can you see it?
all the black is really white
if you believe it
as your time is running out
let me take away your doubt
you can find a better a place
in this twilight

dust to dust,
ashes in your hair remind me
what it feels like
and I won't feel again
night descends
could I have been a better person
if I could only do it all again

and the sky is filled with light
can you see it?
all the black is really white
if you believe it
and the longing that you feel
you know none of this real
you will find a better a place
in this twilight

^^

This song is about the end of our world/era of civilization. Trent is explaining the nature of reality and saying that life is how you perceive it, and that this new end is really a new beginning. It's very beautiful.

--

They're starting to open up the sky, they're starting to reach down through.
It feels like we're living in that split second of a car crash.
And time is slowing down, and if we'd only had a little more time than this, I'll just hold your hand.
Do you remember the time we...?
And all the times we...?
And should have...?
And were going to...?
I know.

And I know you remember. How would he justify it all?
And we knew better; in our hearts... we knew better.
And we told ourselves it didn't matter.
We're trying to continue, and none of that matters anymore.
In the hour of our twilight...
And soon it will be all said and done, and we'll all be back together, as one...
And we will... continue... at all.

Shame on us, doomed from the start
May God have mercy on our dirty little hearts
Shame on us for all we have done
And all we are worth is just zeroes and ones

And you never get away, and you never get to take the easy way,
And all this is a consequence, born by our own hand...
If you believe in that sort of things.
And did you ever really find, when you closed your eyes,
Any place that was still, and at peace?

And I guess I just wanted to tell you, as the lights start to fade,
That you are the reason that I am not afraid.
And I guess I just wanted to mention, as the heavens will fall,
We will be together soon if we will be anything at all.

Shame on us, doomed from the start
May God have mercy on our dirty little hearts
Shame on us for all we have done
And all we are worth is just zeroes and ones

^^

Beautiful...

Anyway, check out this album! It's easily one of the best albums I've ever heard, and I think it's my favorite NIN album. I like it more than Downward Spiral because amidst the destructive imagery, there is a lot of hope and there is a greater universal application to positive imagery. Also the production is out of the world, and sounds like nothing I've ever heard before. Trent is a genius!

On the same lines I'd like to say that the three Marilyn Manson albums, Antichrist Superstar-Mechanical Animals-Holy Wood, despite being very negative, also seem to refer to the same set of events that the "leaders" of this world have set in motion, securing their own destruction.

And no, I'm not some goth kid at all!

I love nine inch nails, great band and awesome music. And the lyrics actualy mean somethin too, heres nine inch nails: the hand that feeds..

The Hand That Feeds

You're keeping in step
In the line
Got your chin held high and you feel just fine
Because you do
What you're told
But inside your heart it is black and it's hollow and it's cold

Just how deep do you believe?
Will you bite the hand that feeds?
Will you chew until it bleeds?
Can you get up off your knees?
Are you brave enough to see?
Do you want to change it?

What if this whole crusade's
A charade
And behind it all there's a price to be paid
For the blood
On which we dine
Justified in the name of the holy and the divine

Just how deep do you believe?
Will you bite the hand that feeds?
Will you chew until it bleeds?
Can you get up off your knees?
Are you brave enough to see?
Do you want to change it?

So naive
I keep holding on to what I want to believe
I can see
But I keep holding on and on and on and on

Will you bite the hand that feeds you?
Will you stay down on your knees?

Very very true about whats going on in the world today. People to afriad to speak out because they are so dependent on the system. So they just go along with it because thats what everyone else seems to be doing. Great tune too :P
