I'm not sure what to make of John Lear. From what I've heard, most of the stuff he says have been proved wrong or it contradicts what many others have said.

Don't know that he's been proved wrong by anyone . Certainly much of what he says can't be proved, but that doesn't make him wrong. And it matters not that he contradicts what others say, because the others might be talking crap. I think he's a really interesting character that might well know more than most.

For a start, he says that there's a breatheable atmosphere on the Moon. If there was, it would be visible from Earth, if only by the airglow around the lunar limb.

I actually like John Lear, but he does talk some crap. I think he mixes in some great information with a wee bit of BS just for a laugh... :)

I agree, I think he is having a laugh and slips a few good peaces of info here and there.

The guy is a former test pilot and worked for the CIA, he's got more flight time than any pilot in the world and he does have some serious connections in military aviation...how much of what they're feeding him is the truth is the question though....probably 30% of what he says is true.

I was listening to a recording of him speaking in depth about his knowledge of extraterrestrials and from the one time that I heard him, I had to turn him off because he seemed very arrogant and dismissive of certain completely credible ideas. Honestly, I thought he belonged to a line of thought relating to UFOs that is grounded in the past. He doesn't seem to be connecting all the dots and on top of that, he seems rather petty. He was bitching about some stupid bulletin board argument he had with some people over the validity of Billy Meier's story for literally about 30 minutes, and he just came off to me as some giant nerd who can't stand being contradicted. He seemed very self-righteous. Admittedly, that was the only time I ever bothered giving him a chance (at least so far), so I need to research him more before I make up my mind about what he says. I do know that I instinctively don't trust him, at least not as a source of credible information. I don't know if he's an "operative" or not - he probably is without thinking he is, like most people are.

What bothers me about these deniers is that they never actually put forward any real arguments(I'm not even asking facts), he will go "Oh you know that Billy Meier story, sooo bogus" - "Yeah, why'd you think it is" and they will never give a real answer.
So what you get then is buncha people claiming different contacts and then denying each other or contradicting their stories, sure you can put puzzle yourself, but you will never be sure it's the right combination as you have never seen the real picture.

That is one thing that frustrates me incredibly when it comes to UFO phenomena. So many people would rather allow it to remain unexplained and mysterious than even take the idea of a thorough investigation into the incidences seriously. So many people are willing to just sit by and claim that hundreds of millions of eyewitnesses across the globe are either lying or ignorantly mistaken about "swamp gas" and "weather balloons" - it's completely bogus. If you deny that UFOs are alien, then what is your explanation? If they are government black ops then why aren't we investigating it? If the government has this technology and they are hiding it, then we need to be asking questions anyway. People don't want their little bubbles of illusion burst. One explanation is better than no explanation, and if you don't agree with the alien theory then come up with some alternative research that honestly discredits it, and on top of that, puts forth a plausible new theory to replace it. A PLAUSIBLE THEORY. Meaning one that is not merely an alternative theory, created for the sake of reinforcing the idea that aliens don't exist. Just assuming that anyone who talks about aliens is a delusional twit is not only disrespectful, but it's outright stupid. That seems like an incredibly irresponsible reaction to potentially out-of-this-world phenomena.

He tells interesting stories and sometimes he contradicts himself, so take of it what you will.

John freely states that he has changed his mind about a number of things simply
because new information has come to light. He also states that everything he
says is simply his opinion and what he believes to be true and everyone is
free to take it or leave it. He has no organization or cause and he doesn't
write books or push his ideas particularly. Mostly people come to him and ask
him what he thinks. He doesn't sell anything and makes no income off of any
of this stuff.
John posts on a number of forums and anyone is free to ask him to explain his
views which he happily does. If you want to know why he thinks there's an
atmosphere on the moon, for example, ask him and he will explain why he
thinks that right there on the forum. Not many others in his position will do
that. If you want to talk to him I recommend the Open Minds Forum. There
is a section there devoted to John Lear and you can ask him anything you
want.
Few if any people could be considered more of an expert on aviation than John
Lear so I feel his opinions about 9/11 hold a lot of weight (as opposed to the
armchair idiots who prattle on endlessly about things they know nothing about).
He also has and has had many contacts with government insiders and he was
one himself.
Some people find his opinions startling or outlandish but that's true of many
people including David Icke. Personally, I find John's opinions to be fascinating
and I suspect he is dead right about 90% of what he says.
