I've been wondering recently how things will pan out over the next few years. We all now about increased government control ID cards NIR CCTV camera children databases which are Whitehall policies, but they are, will be, run by private companies. Look at Securitas, Group 4 etc, do you think these massive firms pressure government into having more control? It is so good for profits of course. When will we see the day when firms like Tesco branch out, openly, into 'security' and prisons and education? Or the biggest 4 banks all combining to hold a huge monopoly. It seems as though we are not run by government but by lobby groups from big firms who know that there is mega bucks to be made from our increased servitude.
We are supposedly run by a bunch of Social Democrats who deep down would love all control to go national, it's their age old philosophy along with greater control over our freedoms. But, on the other hand they do love a bit of sweet dollar from the big companies who can run all this for a very economical profit.
What I'm trying to say is I think in ten years we will be run by a weak government but a very powerful private sector.
