Hey, i thought i would share this.

Does anyone here play this game. Or know it?

I loved the game so much, because of it's in depth art and music.

The music is amazing, dark, but when you need that energy, it's the best (Akira Yamaoka) I assure you silent hill 2 music and silent hill 4 are different but the same, see on youtube..

To name a few songs ...

Silent Hill theme (SH1) (Non Vocal)
Room of Angel SH4
Home town SH3
Theme of Laura. (Non vocal) SH2
Cradle of forest SH4
O.R.T - SH ZERO

http://shm.silenthillfever.com/home.htm << Get the music there<<

Although it does contain symbolism, the game started out as a purpose hell game, exploring the mind and psychologies of denile, regret, love, punishment of self - to name a few! And very very well done to that effect. The game was wrote and made by the Japanese team called 'Team silent'. These symbols ware not used to imprint. They were used to tell the story of control, as opposed to a psyop, rather the opposite. An Expose'.

In the Silent hills 1-4 and Zero, the games referenced Metatron ('Seal of Metatron'), the pyramid, ((hence pyramid head - meaning controlled by this)), a drug called Aglophotis I think thats how it's spelled), a mind altering, mind control drug used by the local mason doctor on people. Lisa Garland from Silent Hill 1 represents Cisco Weeler to some effect. It also reference many cultural and religious dogmas, going so far as to quoting them as the devil itself. Sounds Familiar??

They burned a child to bring about the GOD, or rather, the DEMON.

''The Decent of the Holy Mother''. Via the 21 Sacrements. Although via two different story's, had the same direction.

It also talks about Indian spirituality and how white man was corrupted to the core. Silent hill is on Ancient Red Indian Land. Does not go in depth but the part it mentions it is very clear, as i said, theres a lot going on in this ''game''.

Silent hill 4 looked into child abuse. Children where drugged, raped, and kept in a massive cylindrical prison in the woods. This story is best suited to intelligent people as it's very mature and based on reality, not fantasy, only the story is. The protagonists is a lonely recluse who gets caught up in a story you wouldn't beleive. Basically, a hole appears in his room, he travels through it, and uncovers these atrocities. I suggest reading wiki about it Silent hill story's..

Did i mention Silent Hill has the most intricate and unique story of any game?

Believe me i can go on, if you don't know about it i would do some reading about it. For those of you into art, music, story telling, emotion etc.

The main 'demon' was pyramid head. The punisher. A Representation of the subconscious of the protagonist, James Sunderland (SH2)

He killed his wife as she had terminal cancer, he could not bare it no more, so he done her in.. He went into denile and self punishment.

Silent hill calls people to punish them, or rather, to fix them, by making them face their inner most dark selves, or the dark they have within them.

Example of Songs Lyrics featured in the game.

HOME TOWN (by Joe Romersa)

He spoke of tortured souls
So outrageous the toll
You can lose all you have
He refused to give in to the town that takes all
Survive, you must have the will

This movie doesn't end the way we want all the time

Then he shouts at the moon
She's gone, and fear has overcome
He was walking the mile, he was walking alone

So outrageous the toll
You can lose all you have
He refused to give in to the town that takes all
Survive, you must have the will
This movie doesn't end the way we want all the time
Then he shouts at the moon
She's gone, and fear has overcome
He was walking the mile, he was walking alone

Four and twenty deadbirds, they bleed upon the nest
There was no time for reason, they had no sign of a threat
Now it's too late, too late for me
This town will eventually take me
Too late, too late for me
This town will win

(spoken)
Through this fog they come along
Dark creatures singing a terrible song
The rest of the bar laughed at him
Only I felt my hope grow dim
They found him dead the very next day
"No more stories from him," I heard them say
We blamed bad luck for his fate
Only I felt terror so great

She and he will know
that someday all things will end

That misty night
That dismal moon
The dead search for their kin
While angels sing, in endless dark
The dead seek out sin

ROOM of ANGEL (Mary Elizabeth McGlynn)

You lie silent there before me
your tears they mean nothing to me
the wind howling at the window
the love you never gave
I give to you

Really don't deserve it
but now there's nothing you can do
so sleep in your only memory of me
my dearest mother

Here's a lullaby to close your eyes good-bye
it was always you that I despised
I don't feel enough for you to cry oh well
here's a lullaby to close your eyes good-bye
goodbye
goodbye

So insignificant
sleeping dormant deep inside of me
are you hiding away lost
under the sewers
maybe flying high in the clouds
perhaps you're happy without me
so many seeds have been sown in the field
and who could sprout up so blessedly
if I had died
I would have never felt sad at all
you will not hear me say I'm sorry
where is the light
wonder if it's weeping somewhere

Here's a lullaby to close your eyes good-bye
it was always you that I despised
I don't feel enough for you to cry oh well
here's a lullaby to close your eyes good-bye

Here's a lullaby to close your eyes good-bye
it was always you that I despised
I don't feel enough for you to cry oh well
here's a lullaby to close your eyes good-bye
good-bye
good-bye
good-bye
good-bye

Here's a lullaby to close your eyes good-bye
it was always you that I despised
I don't feel enough for you to cry oh well
here's a lullaby to close your eyes good-bye

Here's a lullaby to close your eyes good-bye
it was always you that I despised
I don't feel enough for you to cry oh well
here's a lullaby to close your eyes good-bye
good-bye
good-bye
good-bye
good-bye

Silent Hill has a following that over rivals any other. Trust me, i'm one of them.

For a Story that includes all these things it's funny that most of the fans are completely asleep. They do not connect the dots as the story is so in depth it's easy to get lost.

Thought you might like to read about it.

P.S, the film....ignore it, it has nothing the game has. NOTHING, and the story was changed for an Christian audience. fuckers.

I may add to the page if it had interests.

I've been a S.H fan for a long time and IMO S.H 1 is still the scariest game ever to be made. Resident Evil made you jump but S.H fucks with your mind. I've heard that some people had to stop playing it becouse it gave them nightmares.
I still remember the first time in saw a nurse in the hospital in S.H 1 as it shuffled away from me.I cacked my pants!
The film is also great. I expected it to be shite but the director was a long time fan himself and the film is just like being in the game.
I've played 4 of the series now and I still dont know what its all about but it doesnt really matter. As far as I can make out,S.H is your own personal hell;the monsters are souls in torment.
If you want to feel your hackles rise, buy S.H 1 and play it alone at night with the lights out.

I've had lucid dreams where I've 'woken up' in Silent Hill type worlds (Probably the lower astral plane), full of grotesque creatures and disturbing scenery. Not pleasant experiences. Funnily enough, I only ever seem to have these dreams when I've been drinking. Something to do with a weakened aura possibly?

By the way, if you're a fan of Silent Hill, you should definitely watch the film 'Jacob's Ladder'. Apparently, the Silent Hill games were inspired by that film, and I can definitely see why...

I played through the first in the series, but have not played the rest. It was really eerie and I'm looking forward to Silent Hill V - The Homecoming (ps3) in september :)
In the horror genre nothing beats the first Resident Evil game IMO

Although SH owed the survival horror genre to RE, it is fair to say Silent Hill One was the scariest game ever, (more so than System Shock, Clock Tower or Alone in the Dark, Fatal Frame or a million more, more so than any horror film).
SH 4 The Room, was a strange one, it didnt start out development as an SH game but got taken in. Much differant to the others. The strange thing with it was that the nights I played the game, my brothers door started locking itself somehow while everyone was asleep...and when the keys werent even in the door. The game basically involves a man locked in his apartment, chains all over his door.
I like the simularities some posters have mentioned in terms of the lower astral dimensions (hell). What really gets me is the way silent Hill is basically shrouded in fog most of the time, origionally used just for the purpose of not needing big draw distances in the graphics. Has anyone seen the thread on Steven Kings 'The Mist'. The idea of this fog being used as a breach between our reality and the lower astral dimensions is apparent in quite a few media referances. In the game peoples subconscious is what forms the demonic creatures, just like its said that the lower planes contain the fears of the humans psyche.

Just quickly wanted to add that I've also loved everything about SH so far - games, soundtracks, film.

Amazingly creepy!

Hooray for SH fans! ;)

With regards the film, did anyone else notice the totally unintelligible line delivered by Sean Bean when in the car with the policeman?

I never switched on subtitles to work out what it was though. I prefer to try and work it out each time I watch it! :p

yeah I'm not regretting on that investment:p

I used to be a big console gamer but since my ps2 broke I've changed my mind. I've continually heard stories of 360s repeatedly breaking down for no apparent reason and the ps3 definitely has a lack of interesting games for me. Metal Gear Solid 4, Final Fantasy XIII, Silent Hill 5, are a few I'd definitely be interested in playing but my focus as of late has been on PC games. In particular I've become hooked on Blizzard games and their upcoming titles. I've been playing Starcraft nearly everyday for the past 10 years (I still suck :() and even though the graphics are dated, it's still fun for me. Now they're releasing Starcraft 2 and it looks amazing. World of Warcraft, Diablo 3, and all of the first person shooters and real time simulators one can handle are all on PC. While I've played console games since I was a child and for a large part they actually helped raise me, I'm going to upgrade my computer for gaming purpose and leave the consoles behind. If some windfall of money comes my way then I'd love to own a ps3 as I do feel it's the superior machine but Starcraft 2 makes me full of glee and I can't miss it.

Yea, but theres something i can not understand with SH4, it's like, a deep fascination with me. I love em all, but with 4 i was playing it at a certain time in my life, memories....i fucking love that game man. Oh and i adore eileen:D

And Heather:D

'Silent Hill: Homecoming' Banned in Australia

Bad news for aussie Survival Horror enthusiasts this morning, with reports coming in that Konami’s Silent Hill: Homecoming is the latest title in the country to fall under the axe of Australia’s Office of Film and Literature Classification board.

According to Gamespot via Atari, Konami’s local distributor for the region, the OFLC didn’t take kindly to the abundance of dismembered limbs, blood, decapitations and other such content seen in the upcoming Survival Horror outing, subsequently refusing the game a rating in the territory.

The publisher went on to confirm that further plans to have the game released in Australia have been put "on the backburner until early next year,” pending further discussion with Konami.

For those unaware, Australia’s videogames rating system differs largely from other regions, with the highest rating available being MA15+, as opposed to DVD and Video content, which can go as high as R18+. As a result, any game deemed unsuitable for audiences of that calibre are effectively banned from going on sale.

Silent Hill: Homecoming is due for release in North America in November 2008.
