On 26 June 2008, The Daily Express reported thus:

White men could be blocked from jobs and promotions under a so-called equality drive unveiled by Labour today. Instead women and ETHNIC MINORITIES WILL BE FAVOURED… under a new Bill to be revealed by EQUALITIES MINISTER Harriet Harman.

Critics blasted the measure as AN UNWORKABLE PIECE OF POLITICAL CORRECTNESS THAT WILL SEE GOOD CANDIDATES OVERLOOKED FOR JOBS IN THE INTERESTS OF POSITIVE DISCRIMINATION…

John Midgley, of the Campaign Against Political Correctness, said:

There is nothing positive about positive action or discrimination. It is counter-productive and potentially racist and sexist. This is typical of Harriet Harman, who must be THE MOST POLITICALLY CORRECT MP…

Officials insist the move is ‘POSITIVE ACTION’ rather than discrimination…

Speaking at a trade union conference yesterday, Ms Harman said:

We are committed to equality and to tackling discrimination. Equality and an absence of discrimination are the hallmarks of a modern society and a STRONG ECONOMY.

Strong economy?

Has the silver-spoon-in-the-mouth person been asleep whilst the credit was crunching and the household bills soaring? Ah, forgive me, I forgot, Harman doesn’t count those likely to be hardest hit by such trivia.

Speaking of equality, I wonder if Harman has ever thought that the state of marriage, and the stable upbringing for the nation's children that once accrued from it, should be treated equally with absent dads and single mothers.

As long ago as 1990, our Equalities Minister co-authored a report entitled, The Family Way, which criticised the family unit and mothers who stay at home. In fact the booklet went so far as to wonder whether:

... the presence of fathers in families is necessarily a means to social harmony and cohesion.

They are planning to foment chaos.

Can you imagine it: three candidates for a job, a lesbian, a geriatric and an asian.

Who gets it? No idea? Then they will all start squabbling with one another. Take it from me, I used to work in Hackney and I'm a lesbian, the ethnics and the queers HATED each other because they were in direct gravy train competition.

If you're a white man, leave the UK NOW.

Plus, this is the worst time possible to be doing this (or in their malevolent opinion, the best time possible) because the economy is in deep, deep doo doo and unemployment, always a lagging indicator, is about to rocket come the autumn.

Competition for jobs will be rife and white men will be left out in the cold. It's an absolute bloody outrage.

I suspect the real purpose of this legislation is to get a lot of women who don't work back into the workplace , and to deter employers from selecting male candidates over them. Its part of the same lovely scheme to make sure those on Income Support are forced back into work.

The Government is attacking the weakest members of society - single mothers , the sick , the disabled - while at the same time the banks get bailed out and MPs grab for as much money as they can get before the recession hits us.

dead right mr guitarbear, the bail out of the banks totally sucks and then they pass a law so we can't even know how much dosh they're printing at the Bank of England to give out to them.

Fucktards.

They want everyone working on a low wage so they can investigate incomes using the tax credits fiasco/shambles.

social engineering at its worst

this government seem to think they can legislate the nation into a subserviant grey collective with no independent thought, no individuality, no passion, just grey monotony and happy obedience

in reality theyre creating rifts, division and hatred

Thats a great article and she is a dangerous woman. Funny, there are a lot Labour supports who think that Labour represents family values but in actual fact they hate the idea of a secure and traditonal family unit and seek to destroy it.

This policy is easy to defeat. When you apply for a job, put down religion as Hindu, and sexuality as gay.

I mean no offence by this obviously, but if they are looking for quotas to fill, then that profile would fit! :D

I once got a job for being "disabled", Dyslexia counted as a disability and it got me to the front of the queue.

sadly i've been at the back since then and Dyslexia doesnt seem to really exist from what I have worked out - i'm just crap at reading :D

I suppose if we hang on, eventually something like being Married will become the minority thing and we can get work again....
