As many in the UK might know our Government is ever increasing its nanny state grip on how we live even down to what we eat and whether those over weight should be taxed simply because their obese (I say you'd need to Tax anorexia and bulimia in that case, but don't believe a tax would help full stop)

So lets get down to the truth of it. Were all told we should cut down on fat, cut down on salt and eat fruit & veg. five-a-day. All sounds good. But then look at the taxes already about on certain types of food and you see an underlying cruelty.

If you wanna eat chips (fries to the American members) or a hot dog for example its tax free, but you want to have something healthy, like a fruit juice or smothie its taxed at 17.5%! Where's the encouragement to eat and drink healthy -given how expensive it is to live in this country in general- when the healthy food is taxed and the food were told not to eat isn’t and ultimately cheaper?

Isn't this just further political manipulation?

Good point. We definitely should tax the junk food and leave the healthy food alone. Tax the fatties!

Very true. The main reason being that it's more expensive to eat healthy, so if we reversed that, and made junk food more expensive instead, the poor could eat healthy. Is it just me or is that a good idea?

Its a great idea but do you think average fatty joe bloggs is going to change his diet? proccessed sugar is more addictive than cocain and we consume more per person each year. I think people should be told exacly how important diet is, if your diet is not nurishing you its killing you theres no inbetween.

I think that's common knowledge in this day and age. Unfortunately, some people just don't care. Ironically, the biggest proof of free will is that some people still choose not to take care of themselves.
