I changed my diet about 18 months ago, after reading up about organic stuff, and about how much crap is in most foods.
I especially wanted to avoid MSG (Monosodium Glutamate..and the other names it hides under)
The benefits for me have been brilliant since i made the change.
Here are just some benefits from the top of my head:-
*Not tired after eating meals (i was always tired after eating before I switched to organic, due to 'dead energy' and chemicals in foods)
*More energy
*Clearer thinking
*Younger skin
*Better memory
*Better concentration
*Sleeping better
*Physically stronger

I look about 21-24 years old, soon I will be 37.
I'm sure good food helps to stop ageing.

I would be interested in what people's diets are like on here.
Here is my average 'daily intake':-

Morning:-
Organic cornflakes+Organic musli with organic whole milk on and organic sugar on.
1 large cup of organic chinese green tea, with organic sugar in.
Cod liver oil capsule
1 vitamin C 1000mg tablet
1 Organic spirulina tablet

Another 1 or 2 cups of organic green tea in the morning (or vimto mixed with bottled water)

Lunch:-
1 tin of Organic baked beans/organic pasta or organic tomatoes
A few organic biscuits (or sometimes non-organic)
Large cup of chinese organic green tea.

Several more green teas or vimtos, or a combination.

Tea time(dinner):-
Organic Brown Basmati rice (or just organic basmati, or organic easy cook, but brown basmati usually)
Fried chicken pieces
A chinese or indian sauce
Fresh stir fry vegetables

Organic apple+grapefruit, cut up with organic sugar on and coconut milk on top.

Several more large cups of chinese organic green tea or vimto + bottled water in the evening.
(1 green tea bag can last all day using the same bag instead of a different one for each drink.)

And that's basically what I eat, and I've never felt better.

These last 2 weeks I have felt even better, but I think it is due to carrying out the steps from a book recommended by tru3 and Seamus, and I would like to thank them for that.
Here's the thread about the book, I recommend everyone to read it and carry out the steps, they worked for me anyway.

Great thread, I'm a single guy and have been living on junk food for the past year. I feel the worst I have ever felt in my life physically, I look 5 years older than I am (to me anyway)

I have been looking for ideas on meals etc but i'm not much of a cook. When I go shopping I never know what to buy (what goes with what etc) and always end up buying the ready meals.

I'm gonna be purchasing some of the ingredients you have listed. The ultimate aim is to get proficient at cooking healthy food....and enjoying it obviously.

Any recipe idea would be much appreciated as well peeps.

Very good diet. I recommend you add a good amount of cheese since it is excellent source of saturated fat. Saturated fat is very good for you, especially from fatty meat, despite what the Illuminati health industry tells you. Here in the states we can't buy unpasteurised (unheated) cheese, yet I still feel very good from eating cheese.

Eat a good hormone free red meat. It has TONS of vitamins and minerals that you can't get through the vegeterian diet, despite what others will claim. My body became weak and frail when I stopped eating red meat. Now that I balance everything, things are all good, and I feel fantastic.

You don't have to be a cook to make eggs, or an omlette, or to throw a salad together that isn't cold and depressing. You don't have to be a cook to make a steak, or a sandwich, or a simple pasta. It's all about BASIC things that you combine. But let me tell you something. It's not so much what you eat or cook, it's about what you don't eat and cook. You can't be healthy if you're constanty stuffing filler junk in your mouth. You will never be healthy if you use a microwave! Microwaves were invented to suppress us. They turn food into poison.

Here's some ideas:

A salad that is easy and doesn't suck.
Buy yourself a spring mix.
Add broccoli if available, or any vegetable you like. I'm too lazy and I eat just spring mix.
Open a can of beans, such as garbanzo, kidney, whatever.
Put it in a bowl on the side.
Buy a simple and natural vinagrette salad dressing that doesn't suck.
Add beans on top of salad. Add a prefered amount of olive oil then dressing. Add lots of parmasean cheese on top.

As for pasta:
Boil REAL PASTA until Al Dente. (firm to the bite)
Rice pasta is good and contains brown rice, and water.
Add salt and a bit of fat like butter or olive oil to prevent sticking.
Strain and let cool. Add Olive oil, minced garlic, FINELY ground pepper, and parmasean cheese. It's flippin' good.

When I said i can't cook i wasn't meaning i'm totally helpless. I can heat things up:D I eat lots of pasta and rice, eggs even salad though not enough veg I have to say.

When i say cook, i mean, from basic ingredients, make a healthy wholesome, tasty meal. I know loads of people who say they can cook but they literally follow heating instructions. Theres a big difference to me!!

I'd love to be able to make my own sauces etc. Free from e numbers and all that.

I will scour the net for some recipes but I'm a bit of a picky eater.......suppose you can spice up any meal though.

thanks for all the tips. Much appreciated.

I'm sure you will start feeling a lot healthier once off the junk food.
I still do have the occasional pizza, and biscuits and stuff, but not very often.
I also think when cooking, the intention towards the food is important, and your intention when eating food.
Eating slowly and breaking it down seems to benefit me more too. Savouring it kind of thing.

Personally, I do a lot better if I stay away from grains.
Grains were farmed as food for slaves - to fill the belly, and we don't have the enzymes for it, especially blood group O.

There's a nutshell article at mercola.com:

Im about to turn 20 years old, and I have been experimenting with diets for almost 3 years now. In the beginning at removed all sweets from my diet and restricted my food intake to banna and quick cook oats in the morning, orange and apple and maybe a sandwhich for lunch, then salade and chicken for dinner. I lost lots of weight and was probably close to 3-4 percent body fat or lower. I was playing varsity lacrosse and in great shape. I went away to college for a semester and gave in to some tempations and ended up getting very sick. I went and bought Kevin Trudeaus Natural Cures They Dont Want You to Know About. Changed my diet almost overnight. Still I made some mistakes. For about 2-3 months I ate only organic and spring water. peanut butter and apples in the morning or an orange. Then salade for lunch or more peanut butter and apples. Then for dinner more salade full of fresh organic spinach greens, brocoli, beans, sprouts, veges. I felt .... ok. Later in that spring I began doing yoga exercises on my own and hindu squats and hindu pushups. My diet consisted of organic fruits, veges, lots of peanut butter and beans, as well as sourdough and sprouted grain bread with wild honey. I also ate quite a bit of organic butter and organic coconut oil. The diet and exercise in the sun made me feel fantastic. I spent my summer lifeguarding eating this way also lowering my intake. I would spend 8 plus hours a day in the open sun, without sunscreen and never once got burned, instead got a very deep tan. I was almost a complete vegetarian and again lost weight and had very low body fat but was very fit. I felt .... ok. Come end of summer I had spent lots of money on organic foods and didnt feel like spending so much anymore. I started to eat alot of starchy foods like potatoes, plantains, turnups, bread, beans, and honey. I put on weight and got a thick coat of fat on me mainly around the mid section. I felt terrible. For a while after that about mid winter I decided not eat so much starchy stuff, but was almost addicted to bread and peanut butter. About a month and a half ago, I was reading about the so called ancestral diet or paleolithic diet. This diet is basic in that you do not consume any agricultural bulk crops like wheat, corn, soy, dairy, or other starchy crops such as potatos. The idea is that the human body is made to break down fat, and when excess starch is introduced into the body, the body cant break it down so it triggers an immune response which stores the starch as fat on the body. Over eating of starches and the subsequent immune responses weakens the body, and causes poor health. I adopted this diet and to visual what you can eat, picture a food pyrimid with leafy greens at the bottom, with meat and fish next up, then fruits, then nuts. The idea is to eat things that can be eaten in their raw state, and only eating animals as close to wild as possible so no farm raised fish or factory beef/chicken/pork. Nuts also should be left raw and the use of certain oils like extra virgin olive and coconut are ok. No vegetable oils such as soy, canola, cottonseed, etc and Especially nothing hydrogenated or chemical toxins like MSG, colorings etc. On previous diets I had noticed I had lost my umph physically even though I ate many veges and such. What I was missing was good quality meat. Thats whats important. My umph is back and I doubled my personal record for hindusquats and hindu pushups even though Ive been out of training. So typical day for me, fruit and nuts in the morning, avacado more nuts, or salade for lunch, then more salade fish or meat in evening. I feel great! Sorry if post was long but I love to talk about nutrition and share my results.

Homemade soups stews and curries are pretty easy to try out and go a lot further than shop bought and a lot more tasty as u can make to your own spec, and you can always make sheperds pie from leftover stew easily as well .The more you do the easier it .Aduki beans are a good substitute for mince or vege mince .

Red dragon pie
soak aduki beans overnight then boil slowly for a couple of hours , add whatever veg you want carrots peas etc tomatoes or puree ,add some gravy mix , makes a good stew to go over rice pasta etc , or just go straight to the mash potato topping to make a wicked pie .You can always change the name to truthseekers pie if the dragon bit offends :D cant believe im posting recipes lol but its all part of the process

healthy body healthy mind leave the chemically enhanced crap behind ,cook it slowly dont over boil it ,when its cooked like that its only fit for the toilet .just throw away your microwave designed for keeping you a slave ,cook from scratch and take your time and you'll find that you feel fine , you'll want to eat healthy allthe time .

originally posted on rense maybe on this site to was a report about a school project where a girl watered to new palnts , one with tap water the other with cooled water that had been heated in a microwave the tap water plant thrived whereas the microwaved water one died within the week .

Yes, a quality meat is very important. Even if all you have access to are normal meats, try to buy the best stuff because it is better to eat meat than not to eat it. I used to be vegeterian and let me tell you... that diet makes you ANGRY. I would come onto the forum and would want to rip anyones head off that disagreed with me. This was 3 years ago. You can't substitute meat with anything, in my opinoin. The reason I was angree all the time was because, even though I would eat beans, salads, what not, my body needed something more.

Yep! Threw mine away over ten years ago and guess what? I have never missed it. I only used it to reheat stuff anyway but it doesn't take long to reheat the convential way. We have become the 'instant' society. We want everything NOW!

I can't remember where I first read about the harm they do but here is a good article.

I eat a nice balanced diet, always have and always will. But Im a fruit addict, at least 10 portions a day.
My girlfriend is Greek and cooks amazing, we have long binned our microwave, actually when she moved in.lol.
The difference in the taste of food available in the med countries is incredible, especially compared to the UK. So much more healthier than here, very fresh, you can actually just pick fresh fruit or catch fresh fish, as I did. The difference in lifestyle and culture is incredible, so much so, that I'm going to move to Greece in July.

Yes, I was 100 vegetarian for 4 years because I hate the idea of eating dead animals and still do (I'm an animal lover), but seriously, a little meat in the diet is VERY healthy, especially if the meat is organic and killed humanely. There are nutrients in meat that cannot be found in other foods in the quantities that we need. B12 is the most important one.

Most of the meat available commercially is "stressed" meat, in that fear energy (caused by adrenaline) is circulating in the poor animal's body prior to being killed. I believe this stress energy can transfer to human's so I try to get good meat and eat only enough to be healthy. Our diet is mainly vegetarian, but we avoid eating too many processed carbohydrates (sugar, grains) as they are VERY harmful ...in fact they are the sole reason for the alarming rise in obesity and type2 diabetes worldwide......many vegetarians rely too much on carbohydrate foods to make them feel satisfied.

A wide variety of foods is the best way to remain healthy, and whenever possible, eat organic. WASH EVERYTHING before putting it in your mouth. Restaurants and fastfood outlets very rarely wash any of their vegetables clear of pesticides (especially salad greens), therefore restaurant food is not generally the healthiest food to eat on any regular basis.

Organic free-range eggs and organic dairy (if you can get it) is VERY healthy, so try and include some into your diet. If poss, get only pasturized whole organic milk.....there are places this is available, but it may mean you might have to buy a share in a cow to get round the stupid laws put in place to prevent us having access to REAL milk.

Type "whole milk" and "organic meat" into the search box at www.mercola.com and some links will come up to help you track down source near you for REAL milk and REAL meat.

I used to be ill all the time, it was always one thing after another.
I started to feel so much better, a new lease of life after giving up
diet coke. It used to be my favourite drink, I had about 3 or 4 cans of it a day. I would never touch it ever again, it really was what was causing me to get so ill. So glad I found out about that poison and stopped.

I now mainly have organic foods and drink.

I wish I could get into drinking herbal teas, just can't. I have organic coffee instead.

Does anyone know anything about goats milk? I have semi-skimmed goats milk in my coffee but I can never find organic. Will it be bad if it isn't organic? I don't like cow milk.

I stopped being vegetarian for health reasons, while I still protest to the way that our food chain is grown, I think that being veggie isn't probably the healthiest diet.

On the question of vitamins, as a matter of interest what do people take daily?

Low carb all the way for me and many of my friends. Humans do not fair well on carbs regardless of where those carbs come from. Why? Our mitochondria cells are designed to run on fat for fuel is why. I eat plenty of animal protein along with saturated animal fat and my daily carb intake is typically less than 30 grams.

I've been studying and eating this way for years and I feel great. I'm 42 going on 25 and a recent pic of me on this forum in my birthday suit :o is a result of low carb and a high activity level.

Take care of your inner health and this in turn, over time, will take care of how your body looks. I absolutely promise that. You do not have to slaughter yourself with any exercise to get there either.

The low fat, low protein, high carb diet is one of the biggest bags of nutritional bullshit ever sold to the masses. It's designed to cause many illnesses not least diabetes, obesity, cancer and heart disease.

I just wanted to say thanks for the useful bits of info in this thread!

For me, it's just any organic fruit and vegetabals, decent amounts of whole grains for fiber, and grilled meat. Not a big fan of dairy products, though I do eat alot of ice cream in the summer.:D I LOVE seafood, and I love hot spices and peppers and the like with everything. I still need to get a berkey water filter and a shower filter though, and I'll pretty much be set!

And I still like ordered pizza and beer, I know it's horrible for you but we have to enjoy this experiance a little don't we? The food we consume is just an illusion anyway.:)

Oh, and fuck coca-cola.
