While watching the footie tonight, at the half-time ad breaks I was struck by the blatancy of this ad for Mercedes Benz. Listen carefully to what is being said and then notice what the slogan is at the end:
Mercedes Benz 'I am' Commercial (http://www2.mercedes-benz.co.uk/content/unitedkingdom/mpc/mpc_unitedkingdom_website/en/home_mpc/passengercars/home/passenger_cars_world/I_am_Mercedes-Benz_2.flash.html#chapter=1)
The version on the website is slightly different to what I saw on tv. At the end of the tv version 'Mercedes Benz' was down in the bottom right corner of the screen and the words 'I am' sort of faded in front of it and then faded out as if to draw extra attention to them.
I've been noticing an increasing number of adverts recently with spiritual overtones, as if they are sticking spiritual truths right in our face but subverting them. Is this their way of getting in first? You know, put this stuff out there in a dumbed down form in advertising so our subconscious absorbs it and then can't recognise REAL spiritual truth when we come across it.
I can't remember off hand what all the others are but I know one of the ITV digital channels had an ad for their service banging on about 'freedom' and my dad saw an ad for one of those dodgy lawyer/claims people with a strong spiritual slant. Here are a couple more:
