Have been thinking lately about the role of the family in modern society.

The standard model for the modern family, man, woman, kids under one roof. I know it's not always the case but it's a fairly common set up.

My question, do you think some indigenous tribes had a better handle on it, the community all staying together, eating together, looking after each other's kids.

Also been thinking about monogamy, good/bad? If we lived in a more community style set up where everyone was honest with partners and nobody hid secrets, would it improve our lives? Would living in a group improve our psyche, does living in a box cut off from other people have any benifits?
