Was just watching a debate on Irish state TV RTE on the oil price issue and they had on the panel an expert on the oil situation, the top man in the Irish oil retail business and the station's Economics Editor, George Lee.

Now I always wondered about George. He seems to think that a press release issued by a government agency is the last word in terms of reality. What is happening in front of George's own eyes matters not. It's what some government agency press release states is the absolute truth. And how our George loves to read them out on the news with dramatic pauses and excited gasps.

So anyways, tonight the oil expert and oil salesman both stated that there is no shortage of oil at all. Speculators are just hording it and pushing the price up. The journalist George Lee refused to accept these guys knew what they were talking about. He became really miffed and quoted this and that government report that oil was in short supply. It was almost comical. A complete and total moron who is utterly lost in the real world if he does not have a government body press release to read out like gospel.

It's pretty funny to watch: (second segment down)
