Yeah this is some sick black metal people, but don't get your panties in a bunch. The lyrics are actually quite intelligent and the music is pretty good in my opinion.

I am into black metal, and despite all the controversy wtih this band, they are quite intelligent people as well.

Here is a link to the lyrics, which to me seems to be a concept album about the reptillian idea.

Here is one of the songs for example.

More lyrics can be found by doing a search at www.metal-archives.com under the band mayhem.

Psychic Horns
___________________________

Subordination to another will
Sophisticated subtle techniques
Mind psyche wide opened
Stimulated triggers
Thought forms of malevolence and fear
In the veins of the floating genocide
Robot of voids by ultrasonic stimulations

Holds down the vibrational field

Rituals take place on grid of vortex points
Terror horror and hatred created

Worship of deconstructive negative pole
R-complex evolves the vril-force

Nourishment for the non-physical forms
To contact and manifest entities of another world

Flying through the depths of space
Someones hand on the wheel
From where the lizard eye
Focuses the infinite line of alienation

Enter the gate of eternal lights
Appear another existence form
The immerge bended into the abyss
Inner world in the depths of the planet
Where the inverted sun never set
Illumination the enormous entities
Hiding them from the human eyes
Converse tubes to the surfaces and back
Only certain chosen can enter

I must give this album another spin, I've not listened to it for a while. Thanks very much for pointing out the lyrics as I'd not yet given them my attention, very interesting indeed.

Makes me wonder if Attila is a fan of Icke or if he got his knowledge elsewhere. Definetly in my top 3 album picks of last year and by far the best work they have done since De Mysterious Dom Sathanas.

Let's face it, if they weren't printed out it's not like you could ever sing along is it?! :p

What are you getting at?

You can actually make out the lyrics, I have done it without reading them before. Attilla does have a crazy fucking voice, I'll definetly say that much.

I'm a fan of black metal but never really got into Mayhem. Always preferred other Norwegian bands - Emperor, Satyricon and Burzum. Have you read Lords Of Chaos? Very interesting account of the beginnings of the second wave of black metal.

Yeah I have read the Lords Of Chaos. It is definetly a good read. Read it about 7 or 8 years ago. Satyricon is one of my all time favories and Frost is my favorite influence as a drummer. I always thought Mayhem was just really dark and dungeon style music which I really like.

Last year a guy sold a load of Mayhem memorabilia from the Helvete-era on eBay - letters from Euronymous, Dead, and a load of other crazy shit.

I would say Emperor are my absolute favourite BM band, especially In The Nightside Eclipse.

Some of that Mayhem stuff would be pretty crazy to have.

Emperor put out some sick stuff for sure. I think nowadays that as far as Norway goes the new Mayhem is the best album I have heard from there lately. I think Attila has a pretty unique voice too, and its pretty funny that it is also a vegetarian which I actually respect. Being vegetarian in that band is really quite a suprise. They have had some crazy stage shows recently, one I heard he was dressed in the corpse of a pig with its flesh tied on or something similiar. I saw some pics of it, and he said it was done as a statement to the society which we live in and also to compare pigs to Humans. My favorite album by Emperor is Anthems. That fucking album is amazing work. The drumming alone is worth it. I really like the atmosphere of that album and it was very influential for me back in the day as far as Black Metal goes. I kinda laugh at what Black Metal has become these days.

The craziest item was a letter that Euronymous sent with one of Dead's skull fragments (after he blew his head off) - the guy made it clear that the skull fragment wasn't included in the sale as apparently the existing members of Mayhem were pissed off about it!

Of the more recent BM I like Taake from Norway and Satanic Warmaster from Finland (though they do both have dubious politics)

Wow I'm surprised to read this in a new Mayhem record...I'd really given up on that band after "Grand Declaration of War" which I thought was awful. Didn't even know Atila was singing for them again so it should be interesting, that guy definitely stands far apart from other metallers (in a good way). For Black Metal I mostly like the classics I guess you'd say (i.e. Venom/Bathory/Mercyful Fate etc) though there are a few bands around these days that are quite brilliant. Anyone familiar with the american band Usurper at all? Sadly they recently broke up but have a string of killer albums, real headbanging stuff like early Celtic Frost a bit. Some of the lyrics dealt with conspiracy including a song about the reptilian agenda, "Invincible Overlords":

Fire descends on wings of radiation
Reptilian masters will incarcerate mother earth
From cosmic realms with sinister intent
Slithering claws of apocalyptic doom

Razor sharp attack with massive force
Soundless kill, mankind now on fire
Infinite creatures engulf all the nations
Blood is spilled, our soil is turning red

Mass abduction, end of humanity, annihilation, blasphemy
The final moments, earth's demise, my time is up, I'm fucking dead !

Ultimate conquest to exterminate man
Mutilated, destroyed, a slaughtered holocaust
Deadly invasion from the stars, war descends
Mass destruction, our cities lay in waste

Not quite as poetic as the Mayhem song but still cool!
