View Full Version : What does Don Imus case PROVE?

When I watch the interviews with "people on the street" by CNN/SBC or ABC.... I notice that the white people say that Isum was screwed for NOTHING (he was fired after a THIRTY YEARS career!) and the whole event stinks...

But black people say that it is good that he was fired (even after he apologized) and that they will get everyone in the future...

So, what does it prove?

I think it proves that USA is very divided and that the Blacks want to see more blood.

And this makes you wonder - WHAT is going to happen in the future in that former British colony (aka USA)?

A civil war?

I saw this on the telly,

these people think they are untouchable when it comes to racism

We had this with big Ron atkinson [football manager] when he described Marcel Desally [Chelsea midfielder] as a lazy .............

He got his commeuppance when he was sacked from match of the day. instantly

Racism should have no part of our or any society

It is a ridiculous outmoded, banckrupt way of thinking, totally corrupt

as we all know beauty is only skin deep ,about 2 mm

Racism is just a pigment of our imaginations

and should be consigned to the rubbish bins ,along with sexism, slavery, and religion

Or basically all forms of bullying.

It proves that the mainstream media and the government want our attention fixed on trivial stories like this instead of on important issue like what's going on in Iraq and elsewhere.

It's misdirection.

Nappyhead is not such a bad word. I live in the south and we use it a lot, even amongst white people, and I have more black friends than I do white ones. They've called me nappyhead when I haven't groomed my hair as well as I could have.

This is minuscule comparing to the atrocities committed daily by politicians. It has been blown out of proportion, which makes me wonder what this is really about!? What about Governor Corzine who was en route to meet with Imus and the Rutgers' basketball team and ended up in a serious car accident? How the accident happened, we don't know. When they later found the driver suspected of causing the accident, he said that he was unaware that he caused this accident which unfolded as the other two vehicles passed him...

Oh really? What about the other two vehicles? Are they searching for them? Were they big black SUV's?

Dunno, this whole thing is fishy. You don't fire a guy for using the word "nappyhead", but not impeach Bush for war crimes. Ya know what I'm saying?

You're going to love this -

American radio icon Don Imus disgraced, fired after threat to reveal 9/11 secrets.

In a clear sign of its intent to reign in dissident American media personalities, and their growing influence in American culture, US War Leaders this past week launched an unprecedented attack upon one of their most politically 'connected', and legendary, radio hosts named Don Imus after his threats to release information relating to the September 11, 2001 attacks upon that country.

According to European reports of the events surrounding Don Imus that have gripped the United States this past week, it was during an interview with another American media personality, Tim Russert, who is the host of a television programme frequently used by US War Leaders, wherein while decrying the state of care being given to American War wounded stated, "So those bastards want to keep these boys [in reference to US Soldiers] secret? Let's see how they like it if I start talking about their [in reference to US War Leaders] secrets, starting with 9/11."

interesting angle, but imus has been a hate monger for years; i doubt seriously if he gives a rat's ass about the truth, he just wants ratings. please don't put rosie in the same slime bucket with him!

I Suggest if derogatory comments about your fellow human beings is alright go and see the meuseum of slavery at Bristol,

set up by William Wilberforce

Nigger was the word used to dehumanise all slaves [so its not cool even amongst black people]

Particularly poignant is the graveston of a man called Nobody

Put bush, blair ,cheney etc on trail for war crimes aswell

its not an either/or situation.

If funny how black people call each other nigger, and that's alright.

If you're going to think like that, then why should they allow a black miss USA? How would it be perceived if there was a white-only miss USA, for example? Isn't that racist?

What about their black only magazines? Or, black only clubs etc.

It's all nonsense. This has been blown way out of proportion.

Imus might be a dick, but this entire thing is fishy.

i don't disagree with you about pc overkill. i (sort of) don't disagree with you about "reverse racism".

it seems like someone is being "outed" and fired for racism every week these days. it's a new tyranny of thought. politicallycorrectthinkspeak. is anyone really naive enough to think that just because no one says racist things, that racist thought is eliminated? LOL! most everyone on this planet has at least a mild case of bigotry and ethnocentrism. why is it embarrasing? there are people on this forum have giant chips on their shoulders about white people, "religious nutters", qabbalah meddlers (that would be me ;) ) ,politicians, "the sheeple". 100,000 years ago, cromagnon man was probably burning crosses in front of the neanderthal's cave.

so what? it is part of the human condition, to judge what one has not experienced. the best we can do is widen our conscious awareness of it, and honor Unity in diversity.

but sweeping it under the rug and denying it just lets the wound fester.

i just feel like making imus out to be some freedom fighter is a waste of time. imus is out for imus. he tripped over his dick this time and, because everyone's skin is so thin these days, he's out on the street.

Agreed!

Btw, I don't mean to hijack this thread, but I have to ask...Tru3, is your avatar from a Tin Tin comic?

first there is genuine opposition to the use of this word ,led by, i beleive former labour mp Oona king, she got romeo out of so solid crew on her side and he was quite hardcore with this word

said that it gave them empowerment

he was introduced to community leders etc who educated him in its origins, and cultural history which he knew vry little about

in reality it was found to be derogatory and was having the opposite effect

2emancipate yourself from mental slavery...... B Marley

I dont know about mrs black usa,but these cattle markets went out of favour here sometime towards the end of the last millenium

too cheesy and sleezy

If anyone is going to wake up spiritually aware ,they are going to have to unburden their prejudices and fight bigotry whenever it rears its ugly head

remember Rosa Parks on a bus

Yeah, look I just think it was blown way out of proportion. That's all.

My black friends just laughed when I asked them about their opinions on this. Mostly they agreed that the girls could have done a better job with their hair and that "nappyhead" was appropriate.

So, I dunno, I just think there are people that want to perpetuate the racist thing and make it a big issue and grasp at straws (like this skinny pathetic straw) to force a race issue when most people probably feel like there is no issue at all....but are going along with it because of herd mentality.

Most people (including black people I know) are like "whatever", but there are some people that just have nothing better to do with their time than insist it's racist, and incite hatred and ongoing division.

Utterly pathetic indeed. I wish someone would just tell these politicians that we don't subscribe to their insistence of herd mentality. Just because THEY insist it's racist, doesn't mean that it is.

Divide and conquer....pathetic...and it's not going to work.

fair enough,I hadn't even herd of this chap till the other night, when i breifly saw it on the telly

i suppose shock jocks or whatever these people call themselves are more of a phenomena on your side of the pond

its not a good idea to play the race card anyhow as it is a trump card and
any thing said against it can make anyone look like a racist

When i saw it i thought it was a bit of a joke anyhow,
dominus

i thought that was the word in "the exorcist "to stop that girls head from spinning around?

I know exactly what you are saying. The whole thing with the governor is very suspicious. He just happened to get in an accident on the way there? There is definitely more to that story. The race issues are really not worth touching. This shows us that our level of consciousness as a whole is still very low.

Yep, it's so obviously stupid, it's ridiculous!
